Wyatt Johnston On Stars 5-2 Win Over Minnesota Wild

and made some important plays. Yeah, I think um you definitely could have been you know maybe a little prettier. Um you know I think just the biggest thing is just keep playing, keep you know playing our game, keep you know staying on them. You don’t want to lay back and you know kind of take on water. But um I mean you got to win all sorts of different ways in this league and um at the end of the day I mean two points is two points. What do you see on your goal? Obviously, the defense has dropped a stick. Did that just open the door for you? Yeah. Yeah. I think um I mean I know when I lose a stick, you feel pretty helpless out there. So, it’s just trying to um you know, take it to the net there. It’s just, you know, such a tough play when you don’t have a stick if someone’s going at you. There’s, you know, not a you know, a ton you can do without kind of grabbing and taking a penalty. So, just kind of trying to take it there and see what happens. see if I can take it to the net and make a play or, you know, he grabs me or something like that to then maybe drop penalties, something like that. You’re the only the fourth player in franchise history to score goals in three straight games to open a season. What’s it like to hear you setting records like that? Does it mean anything? Um, yeah. I mean, I think it’s cool. Um, but I mean, I think at the end of the day, it’s just, you know, for me, I’m just trying to come in and help the team win games, kind of whatever that may be. Um, so yeah, I mean for me it’s just kind of, you know, come try to help the team win, whether that’s scoring a goal, making a play, bucking a shot, you know, kind of whatever whatever that is. Um, but yeah, I mean, at the same time, it’s pretty cool when Jake’s playing like that behind you guys the last couple games. How much confidence does that give your group? Yeah, it’s uh it’s great. He’s um he’s awesome. I mean, we love him. He’s been so good for us. Um, you know, ever since I’ve been here and, you know, this year as well, he’s been he’s been awesome. So, I think it gives us a ton of confidence. Um, you know, in a perfect world, we’d, you know, like him to not see a ton and, you know, control the play and, you know, not give him anything, but, um, it’s great when he’s there to, you know, back us up. What’s a night like this for the franchise? I mean, green carpet, Pavs is here, big cheer for Jamie, big cheer for Go. It just seems like there was a lot of energy in the building. Yeah, it’s uh it’s super exciting. I think it makes you, you know, really, you know, appreciate, you know, the situation that um you know, for me personally, this is a you know, organization, you know, the situation that we’re in. Um you can really appreciate, you know, the love, the support. Um and it just uh it’s really cool. You know, you can kind of take a step back and kind of just appreciate, you know, how how cool it is what we’re doing. Three wins over three playoff teams, three divisional opponents. any sort of message that you guys think you’re sending early on this season? Um, yeah. I mean, I think, you know, you know, I think we all believe we’re a team that can win the Stanley Cup and, um, you know, that’s the goal and that starts with, you know, a good start to the season. Um, you know, still still a ton of hockey to go, but um, yeah, I mean, getting three big wins against three divisional opponents and three really good hockey teams is, um, you know, I think obviously a great thing. With that said, you know, there’s still a ton to ton to improve on and, you know, still more, you know, messages we can send to the league, I think. What have been your initial assessments under Glenn and his leadership and leading you guys in these three wins to start the season? Yeah, I think he’s been he’s been great. Um, you know, obviously there’s some some different things and different um, you know, systems, you know, X’s and O’s, stuff like that, but I think he’s done great job with, you know, trying to teach us and, you know, still keeping, you know, our identity as a team and not, you know, trying to reinvent the wheel. Um, because I think we have a really good base and I think it’s just kind of adding, you know, as you talked about, adding that 1% um, you know, in some some different aspects of our game. How is the balance adjusting to those, you know, new systems that he’s kind of building up? Um, I mean, I think it’s been good. I mean, there’s some some learning spots and you still, you know, it’s still pretty early, you know, still, you know, played a couple preseason games, only three regular season games, so there’s still, you know, a lot of learning, adjusting, and, you know, still, I think, a little bit more to make it so it’s kind of second nature. But, um, I think that’s just part of the, you know, the process. Um, you know, as we as we talk about, just keep building and keep, you know, adding things and, you know, making corrections when we
