Head Coach Mike Macdonald Gives Final Updates Ahead Of Week 7 vs. Texans.
All right. I’m assuming some folks are uh on the road right now. So, all right. Good to see everybody. Uh just had a really good practice. Good good week of work so far. It’s Friday as far as we as we’re concerned and we’re kind of operating accordingly throughout the weekend into the game. How’s uh how’s Spoon doing? I think we I think we listed him as questionable. Yeah, those guys are questionable. He practiced in a limited fashion today. Julian as well. Yeah. What would that mean to get those guys back? Just I mean, we talked about that before, but the secondary obviously you’ve had a lot of moving parts on this year. Yeah, I mean uh it’d be great be awesome to have those guys back. I mean I mean you know like you know the answer. I mean Julian’s a great player. Spoon’s a great player. Um, but we got we got great players that are that are playing too that if they don’t play, we’ll we’ll count on those guys, too. So, Mike, what has Kobe Bryant given you just in terms of communication? Well, yeah, consistency, you know, he’s he’s he’s uh he’s been out there all the time. Um, he’s got a he’s got a competitive mindset that we need on our on our defense. he’s uh he’s not satisfied with where we’re at and that’s contagious throughout the group. And I I know I I know I speak for the coaches when I say this, but I’m really appreciative of that mentality. We need that. And uh that on top of his ball production and being able to make tackles coming out of the roof is uh really important. What kind of progress is Dar making? He’s coming along. Uh you know, he’s not he’s not going to play this game, but we should expect him back after the buy. their their uh rush ends are obviously really good. What is what is kind of the main challenge with with those guys? I they really kind of do anything specific with them to kind of get the Well, yeah, they I mean they play a little bit different than um than the way we play our our scheme and uh they’re a little bit wider. Uh they’re up the field, you know, like in more of attack mentality. Both extremely talented, powerful guys. uh they play hard, you know, so you got to you got to block them long. You gota takes you can’t just, you know, block them for a half count and then the down’s over. They’re going to they’re going to take it through the the spirit of the whistle, which is why you respect them. And um yeah, we’re going to have to account for those guys. They’re they’re really good players. The way the way they play their coverages lets the um the rush come alive as well. Along those lines, we we asked you back in like training camp about a and just having him back and healthy compared to coming in mid-season last year. Now that you’ve got a third of a season, what does he do for this offense when he’s back and he’s right? Yeah, I think I think Abe um I’m glad that he’s feeling better health, you know, with his health and and uh him at his best is someone that we’re going to need with his mentality, you know, on the right side of our line and we got to keep going, you know. Um there’s times where we got to be a little more consistent across our entire offensive line. The guys are playing hard, um determined, but we got we got room to grow as well. and I know he’s determined to do that. We talked to you, Chenna, the other day. He was saying he still feels like he’s, you know, kind of working his way back. Not maybe not completely back, but how have you kind of seen him progress? Well, I mean, his production is speaks for itself. Uh, I think I think we’re seeing the Chenna that we wanted to have all last year and he, you know, he expects to, you know, the level that he expects himself to play at. It’s great to hear that that he feels like he’s still on his way back because I think he’s playing at a high level right now. Um yeah, all those things are coming to life. You know, he’s he’s versatile, he’s tough, um complimentary rusher, he’s smart, he can handle the drops. So, um you feel like he can do everything when he’s on the field. Looks like Reek is cleared from a concussion. Just what what how do you look this week? Just how’s he doing? I’ll tell you what, uh Reek has Reek’s had a great week of practice. um told him yesterday I’m really excited to see him play. Um so I I can’t wait to see him go out there and do his thing. You said you getting consist you need consistency from your offensive line. What do you need from your running backs in terms of the run game? Yeah, same thing. Same thing. Again, I’m I’m really pleased with our week of practice in the run game. Uh the guys are doing a great job. Um I’m excited to see it come to life. You know, now we get to go do it uh at our home stadium. So, it’ll be fun. Said yesterday, u said Ken’s earning more opportunities because of how he’s practicing. Have you seen the difference how he’s practicing? Well, I’d say with I’d say with Ken, um, one one thing you appreciate about all of our backs is how they practice. So, it’s it’s Ken’s always had an incredible like practice habits, as does Zack, as does George. Um, but it’s it’s important. I mean, it’s important to get all the reps, you know, it it takes muscle memory to get the tracks right and uh be confident in those things and keep the consistency going. And um I think that’s what you’re seeing with Ken is that um he’s gaining more confidence and and uh with those like little details and and he did a great job this week, but his his effort and intent is has always been there. He’s he’s a great practice player. This is a later kickoff even than like a normal Monday night game. What do you guys do all day Monday? Sit around, stare at each other. Uh we’ll treat it like a preseason game in terms of schedule. Um something that’s was different for me coming out west playing like prime time games at like four or five was a little was a little different. So really going to adhere to the schedule that you know we were used to on the East Coast. So, um, you know, just like a light light meetings, light walkth through in the morning at the hotel and then, uh, and then we’ll meet up before the game and go play the game. You you mentioned Rick had a really good week of practice. Obviously, it sounds like he’s handling I mean, obvious obviously there’s some speculation about his future or whatever. I mean, sounds like he’s handling all of that pretty well in your eyes. Yeah, I there’s there’s no speculation with me. Guysy’s kicking butt for us. You settle you settled in on Ernest and and Drake there. Is T9 still? Yeah. Look, uh yeah, there I mean everything everyone’s always competing, but Drake’s going to Drake’s going to start um as he’s earned it and I keep saying it, but like but Tite is um he’s doing a great job as well. He’s he’s competing, practicing hard, knows what to do. He’s been great in the meeting rooms. He’s he’s doing a great job for uh for Jay. So, unrelated question. Whose idea was it to uh have the blown up pictures of the stadium in the auditorium? Oh, the walls in the stadium. Sorry. Uh in the auditorium, the blown up pictures of the stands field. Dave, was that your idea? I think you invented it. I invented it? No. Uh I don’t even know if that was my idea or not. I don’t know. I think I think we threw some ideas around and um have a couple proofs and I think it looks I think it looks really cool. Was that part of just the whole getting back home field advantage? There’s some there’s some inception involved there. Yeah. Yeah. More you feel like you’re at home, you know? You like it? Looks good. Yeah. Okay. Well, thank you. Thanks. Zoomed in on the press box a little more. We should We should do that in the back. Where is the press box? I don’t even know. It keeps shrinking. Yeah, sorry about that. That wasn’t that wasn’t my idea for the three questions. Will they need to do pregame workouts to determine their availability? Uh, no. No. Anything else? Okay. All right. Thank you.

Let’s Go Hawks!!!
Quarterback draw would undress Texans
Whoever asked coach about pictures of the stadium needs to be removed from the press team 100%
Good thing some of the players will be back for Monday Night Football
Please DO NOT GET INJURED
Some dry ass questions…
Riq is gonna have a great game watch
This year we’re good… Next year we’re going to be even scarier
Did coach just drop another Inception reference?
It appears we may have underestimated you Mr. Bond.
Hawks don’t lose this game. Ezpz
This is the fun team I suspected it would be.

BLOW OUT GAME 30 -10 GO SEAHAWKS
I’m a huge Seahawks fan, and LITERALLY cannot with M’s going down right now
John Benton & Rick Dennison have some work to do. We better win at home ffs 🤦🏼♀️
Let’s see some Holani. Hope this is a big Arroyo break out game.
moving coby to safety last year through this year definitely saved his career. he wasn't the best CB and once he moved to S, he's been on for us. not really worried about Texans O, but their D worries me a little. Though, we faced Bosa and Watt and Cross and Lucas didn't give up much (except the strip sack in week 1) so will anderson hopefully can be contained. Horton and Kupp can capitalize the extra attention JSN he's been getting. Riq got a huge weight on his shoulders, if he gives up a lot he may not be on this squad after the bye.
What does it mean to be doing great in the meeting room? That they stayed awake? 😂
What’s up with Riley Mills
Beautiful!! 💙 💚 ✨ 😻
Another home loss incoming. Just trade Spoon and Love already. Clearly these dudes are fine china and can't handle the work.
Bob Condotta is an abject moron.
Coach Mike, if you're reading this please tell JSN to save the celebrating after the game, less penalties. Thanks Coach 😂👋. #12ALLTHEWAY
Freaking love coach mike he’s a beast at everything he does 💯💯🔥
