POST CAST: Wild Prevail in Shootout over Kings 4-3 #mnwildhockey #minnesotawild #wildhockey
Hello. Yesper. Minnesota Wild pick up a shootout win. And all I want to talk about is the play of Yesper Valstead down the stretch. How about that shootout? How about that OT penalty kill? We’ll talk about the standouts and we’ll get your thoughts as well. Hey, guess what? It is postcast time. [Music] You are locked on wild postcast part of lockdown Minnesota on the locked on podcast network. Your team every day. all rise for another lockedown wild postcast as the Minnesota Wilds pick up a 4 to3 win in a shootout over the Los Angeles Kings. Now, we’re still in we’re in game three of the season. There are still plenty of things that are works in progress, but I want to talk about a couple of youngsters that uh really factored in to this game here tonight. Of course, the man in the net, yes, who was, I thought, great, honestly, throughout the night. We’ll uh we’ll talk about his game throughout. Uh and how about Danilov in his NHL debut? Just crushing in the faceoff circle. And the Wilds end up rallying after giving up three goals in the third period. They uh they rally to get the win and uh two points over a uh a good Kings team. I’m I’m not convinced that the uh one and two record coming in that’s that’s not going to be where they finish. So all told, uh let’s talk about the standouts. New bit that we’re bringing to our postcasts each and every game that we do them. uh we’re talking about the standouts and just highlighting. Now, the reason I say standouts is because that can be good or bad depending on um depending on how things are going. Um standouts tonight. Yesper, you look at the uh the overall numbers for uh for the Vall, 31 to 34 as far as saves go. Uh he so that’s a 912 save percentage goals against average against or under three. Um as far as the goals saved above expected, yes still managed to be in positive territory there as well as the Kings managed a 3.76 expected goals. Yesper gives up three. So he he still was uh above advertised and honestly the goals that were given up. So the first goal that uh that Kevin Fial scored is a leaker that that was a that was a just a leaker goal. You know Yesper was in position trying to kind of wall off the net and it just it just snuck in um on his side. Yeah. That that’s one where it that is about as good a position as you can be in and that’s just a that’s just a good play that uh that was made by FIA. You know the Quinton Biffield goal as well. Yesper swings out to get in position and Biffield able to just kind of laser one that uh that sneaks by the um the goal by Adrien Kempy. I have seen about a million times um over the course of the last couple of years where the goalie makes the initial save. Brock Faber was um Brock Faber was trying to to clear out the front of the net. He’s pushing um and then all of a sudden Kemp is just there by himself and he I I can’t really put that one on the goalie. All that counts is the fact that Yesper made the saves in OT. Matt Baldi gets called for the slashing penalty. Yesper makes the saves in OT and he makes all four saves that he needed to make in the shootout. And you can tell Yesper was amped for this game. He was amped to uh to get in after what happened last year. Uh he I think his confidence is is at a pretty high level right now. Um he was excited after every shot. I mean and he should be like I’m I’m perfectly fine with him showing a little emotion after all the stuff that he went through last year and all of his teammates giving him some love after he slammed the door in the shootout. So, I thought it was a great season debut for Yesper. Um, it’s pretty clear that he has uh moved on from what happened last year and he put in the work in the off seasonason. He talked about that a little bit with Kevin Gorg after the game. He put in the time in the offseason, put himself in position to um make the the winning saves and he did. Another standout tonight for me, uh, Denil Yurov. Now, he the the Wild eased him in. He went six of eight in the faceoff circle. Um, I I thought he made some some very solid plays, especially on defense. Um, throughout the course of the night, I I think the defensive side of his game, I think, is ready to play now. And I I was glad to see him get in and I was glad to see him look comfortable. So, he definitely gets um he definitely gets one of my standouts for this game and the power play gets the other. We’re we’re going with three standouts here tonight. Doesn’t mean that there weren’t other players that uh that stood out. Um the the power play is on just a heater right now. Three more power play goals. Now by extension, and we’ll talk about this after the break, uh the five on five scoring, as Alex and I talked about earlier today, five on five scoring is very much still a work in progress. Uh, so I’m glad that the power play has been off to a good start, but power play scoring is not, you know, it’s it’s nice to have a great power play, but that’s not sustainable as like what you rely upon. Um, so the it’s it’s got to be it’s got to be figured out, but uh there are some questions as to like how long of a leash are different people going to get. We’ll talk about that after the break. But um power play so far, I mean, three power play goals in this one. Uh nearly a fourth if not for pretty tickytac goalender interference call. I I watched that play 10 times probably. I watched that play 10 times and I’m still trying to figure out where Ryan Hartman is responsible for making contact with Darcy Keer. I still think that Quinton Biffield pushed Hartman into the net or into Keer at least. So I I don’t see how that’s Hartman’s I don’t see how that’s Hartman’s issue. I also fully understand not challenging that. I think had the Wild challenged it, they may have been able to uh to win it, but I just I I I also fully support not um not challenging there. So, power play a standout. Yesper a standout. I really liked what we saw from Denil Yurov. Uh, I thought Zeve Boyham had a a nice game, too, uh, here tonight. And we’ll talk about the D pairings. Those were juggled, uh, a bit throughout the course of the game. So, we’ll talk about that as well. Um, we’ll get to some of your questions. We’ll uh we’ll play lineup roulette. Um, so and all in all, you know, it’s rack up as many points as you can early on in the season until things start to get ironed out. This team is far from a finished product. But honestly, I would rather build to something as opposed to be great um as opposed to be great at the beginning and fade. So yeah, thankfully didn’t seem like anybody exerted too much in the way of energy because you got the second night of a backto-back coming up against Dallas tomorrow night. Always Dallas. It’s always Dallas. So that’s that’s kind of my preamble. Um we’ll get your thoughts on the game as well as uh lines, whatever else. Uh plenty more to come on uh tonight’s postcast. Minnesota Wild win 4-3 in a shootout over the Los Angeles Kings. We’ll get your thoughts as we continue this Locked on Wild Post after this. Postcast rolls on here tonight as the Minnesota Wild pick up a 4 to3 shootout win over the Los Angeles Kings. Two-1 now on the season. One and one. I’m uh I’m glad that we avoided that because the third number just throws me every time. Yes. Uh appreciate everybody pointing out in the comments. Let’s let’s give Marco Rossi a uh let’s give Marco Rossi some love for that game winner. Um I I don’t know. I don’t know what it is in the shootout, but like I I’m I would go with the Vladimir Terasenko approach where you you try to go high like try to tip one in off the pipe. Both Capri off and Baldi tried to go five hole. Um the Kings just were throwing everything that they had at Yper and he didn’t budge. Me if I were if I were shooting um in a shootout I would go bar down. Shout out to the bar down beauties, friends of the show. Jesse Pierce joining the show later this week. So be on the lookout for that. Uh so let’s let’s talk about some of the let’s talk about the offense because uh the defense got shuffled around a little bit as the game wore on. Um the offense by and large five on five is a work in progress. The Minnesota Wilds generated 3.03 expected goals. Uh they had 38 unblocked shot attempts. 25 of them were low danger, nine were medium danger, and four were high danger. Uh but you know, it just it seems like the puck handling in particular has been uh an issue. Like just pucks bouncing off the sticks, like guys trying to to do a little too much. Uh, I still think the um I still think we’re trying to gel these combinations together. And another point that I’ll make, think about this. This Wild roster has been largely the same for three years with the exception of a couple of new pieces. And by and large, guys have been playing with the same linemates. And now all of a sudden you’re adding new players into the mix and player A may not get to a particular spot in the same manner in which the previous line may did. Um and so you know you you just you got to work on those types of things. I think at this point what sort of a leash does Vladimir Terasenko get? I I think he still gets um I I think he still gets plenty. Like I I think he will still get looks on that second line. I don’t think he’s going to be the move. Um as far as that as far as that goes, uh I I think if there were a move to be made on that second line, it would be in that opposite spot. But, you know, he did have two assists tonight, so he was he was involved. It’s just it’s a work, you know, I keep using this phrase work in progress to death. Um, it is something that, you know, by and large in the preseason you throw out these line combinations against either other people on the Wild roster or preseason teams. Uh, you didn’t get a ton of run against actual NHLers. So, it’s just it’s going to be a feeling out process. you know, if Danilla Eurovv can just own that faceoff circle and he’s not going to go six of eight every night, but if he can win more often than he doesn’t, you know, maybe that allows the Wild to try some things, i.e. moving Ryan Hartman up in the lineup, which as Hoptics points out, he certainly has earned. He certainly has earned the ability. Um, I think outside of Capri off and Baldi, Hartman’s been one of the best players on the roster through the first three games of the season. So, he certainly has earned the opportunity. He’s going to get a look there. That that’s that’s how this is going to work is, hey, such and such player is going to get a look. If it works, okay, you stick with it for a little bit. If it doesn’t, you uh you move on to the next you move on to the next thing. But I don’t think um I don’t think the Wild will break Baldi and Capri off up unless absolutely necessary. You think about what they have generated as a combination. Now a lot of that is on the power play, but think about what they have generated so far as a combination. Um that’s that’s hard to replicate. So I think that’s a last resort for the Wild breaking up Capri off and Baldi to try to deepen the lineup. So they’re just going to continue to they’re going to continue to plug and play on that second line. And the Hartman um the Hartman Felino Trenion line tonight that had some that had some good run defensively. So, it’s just a matter of, you know, it’s just a matter of feeling it out. It’s a feeling out process for about, you know, 10 15 games. Um, but it it does it is something that definitely needs to definitely needs to improve because you can’t bank on you can’t bank on five delay of game penalties or in the case of the Columbus Blue Jackets, four of them. You can’t bank on a team going to the penalty box six times. That’s not going to happen all the time. You’re going to play more disciplined teams that are going to force you to beat them at five on five. And you just need to find the formula that allows you to do that. Uh let’s look at the let’s look at the D pairings a little bit. Um, although first I should probably give my thoughts on Cam Fowler. Uh, a top end elite defenseman that scores as well as Wayne Gretzky did and defends as well as Dion Sanders while also being a member of the St. Louis Blues, which is, you know, it’s unfortunate. Should really be playing somewhere else. Uh the deep pairings tonight uh Jonas Broaddin and Brock Faber were uh 18 minutes played 18 minutes together. We did see the return of uh Jake Middleton and Jared Spurgeon to the ice. We also saw we saw a healthy amount of uh Zeve Boyam and Zack Begoian together. Other than that, it was, you know, one guy coming off of a of a shift, switching a little bit. Um, so it’ll be interesting to see if those are the pairings that we get going forward. Um, Broaddin Faber, Middleton Spurgeon, and Buojian. We’ll see. Uh again, these these will be these will be worked on uh until they find a combination that works. I think a lot of the reason that we’re seeing Jonas Broaddin play with Brock Faber is because they are trying to work Broaddin back in. Um and it looks as though Broaddin is kind of starting to figure it up figure it out. He got 22 minutes tonight. I know he didn’t he didn’t play a ton on the penalty kill which was interesting but um you know trying to trying to not overload his limits right off of an injury which I’m perfectly fine with. Uh but Zeve uh so well let’s give Zeve a little credit here. I think part of the reason that this power play has been as good as it has is Zeve is looking Zeve is looking for the kill up on top. Like he’s not looking to just kind of keep the puck moving like he’s he’s looking to go down and attack. And you’ve got the cross you got the cross ice chemistry between Carill and Baldi. Matt Baldi has worked on that one-timer, by the way, which is great. And I loved Baldi on the uh the greasy goal that he scored. I loved him taking the puck from the side of the net, skating it straight up, and jamming it down Darcy Keer’s throat. That was nice. That is that is a mentality I would love to see more of from Baldi this year. And so to see him do that, to see him take that puck to the net and just ram that thing straight down Darcy Keer’s throat was gorgeous. I know it’s a greasy goal and it’s one of those like tip your cap kind of a goals, but still Baldi could have passed that puck from there or tried to work it, you know, further down the wall, but he said, “No, I’m going to go make a play.” And him and Carill so far this year, absurd. So that’s that was nice to see. And you know, we we talked about it in the episode today. We we had this theme of um growing pains. And I I don’t mean that from a negative perspective, but I think we saw a real good example of that with Yesper. Now, he he started off really good. I thought he was seeing the puck really well. I thought he was putting himself in position. There were a couple of times that he got in position to make a save and the puck either got blocked or kind of deflected a little bit, but he didn’t panic. He just stayed in position and made the save. Uh then the Kings started to kind of claw back in. You get a a just a real nice like snipe play from Kevin Fiala and you uh you get a wideopen rebound tip. Yesper made the initial save. You you hope that your teammates are going to be able to pick up that rebound, but he didn’t he didn’t let that phase him. He made the saves in OT. He regrouped, made the saves in OT, made the saves in the shootout. And that’s the kind of thing that we look for with young players. That’s the kind of thing that we are hoping to see from the young guys. Um is you’re it’s not going to be a perfect game, but just learn from learn from what happened. Learn from what happens and uh utilize it as the uh as the game rolls on. And Yasper did that. That’s that’s exactly what you’re hoping to see from uh from the young buck. So, all in all, um again, third game of the season, we have seen some nice flashes. Uh there are also plenty of things that need to get cleaned up, but bank early points. Bank early points as much as you can before the absolute S hits the absolute fan. Um, oh shoot. I uh looks like Alex wants to uh get in here for a few thoughts. So, we’ll let him do that and then we’ll kind of uh kind of wrap a bow on this one um so that I can get the NHL show recorded and uh get to bed for a 445 wakeup call. I’ll never bank points. Um yeah, this is this is all we’re asking for. hit manner. You You take the up and the down. Um you take the up and the down and you roll with it. Not sure on Ogrren yet. I I So here’s my thing. Here’s my thing on Liam Ogrren. I just I I you just keep him in the lineup. Keep him in the lineup. I my thoughts if I was the coach I say okay the pressure the pressure of making the team is gone now just go out there and play. So I leave Ogrren in the lineup and let him let him hit his light bulb moment. And once he does, again, you’re going to have you’re going to have the hiccups. You’re going to have the learning moments, but just let him let him figure it out. Keep him in the lineup. You know, if he has a rough game, just have a talk with him. just have a talk with him and just, you know, just communicate and just see where he’s at. You know, how how are you handling things? Are do you feel like you’re acclimating well to NHL life? There anything we can help you out with? Anything the coaching staff can help you out with? Um, just stuff like that. like just just get him in the lineup, keep him in the lineup, and just live through the mistakes, learn from the mistakes, and just go from there. Alex Mleti joins the postcast. Alex, your thoughts on the uh the game here. Yeah, they hung on, right? Um and uh good uh confidence booster. I tweeted out a good confidence booster for Yesper. And I mean, in this in this day and age, it’s like nearly impossible not to score on a fouron-ree in overtime on the power play. And they held it together. Made he made some saves and some some key blocks out there, too. And uh yeah, it was just, you know, the the young guys came through for it. You know, Marco gets the gets the game winner and uh you know, Yasper shuts down Kevin Fiala, too, right? it uh it stopped the Minnesota sports narrative from from happening. Um so kudos kudos to Yper for for getting the job done and uh yeah just huge with having the back to back and having to fly to Dallas and so you know you get your two points tonight and hope you can scrape to claw your way to at least a point in Dallas. Um but kind of like we talked about um on earlier episode tonight uh uh you know you have to keep keep pace with the Central because everybody around them is getting getting two points even you know we thought Winnipeg was gonna struggle out the gates and they’ve they’ve been winning and they had a you know big win today too. Uh we gotta we gotta abolish the shootout too. like Gary’s got to Gary’s got to do something cuz you so you you’re now at a point where and this is being mentioned multiple times in the chat which is why I kind of want to bring it up. You’re at the point now where teams basically play keepway and OT and it’s not a fun product. It’s not, you know, it used to be super exciting, but I don’t I don’t know what what changed with coaches or I don’t know. I I feel like sometimes coaches just play for the tie, you know, and like they use it as an opportunity to kind of regroup and just don’t make any hideous mistakes, glide through the glide through the OT and just go to the shootout. And it’s like, no, the shootout is terrible. We got to get rid of the shootout. Yeah, it’s I would rather literally watch both teams fight each other than a shootout. A lot of those attempts too, it it looked like they weren’t even trying. I don’t know what, you know, either some guys shouldn’t ever be in the shootout. Like I I don’t know what what they were trying, you know, to attempt to do. Sometimes I think like they overthink things in the whatever scouting stuff they get. Yeah. It’s just uh Yeah, it’s it’s not it’s not good for the fans. I would um if it were me, I would aim every shootout shot at the same trajectory that Jared Spurgeon’s uh power play goal went in. Like just zip it right past the ear hole. And can we talk about the one of the worst things I hate about is you get a loser point. You get you still get a point for losing, which is so abolish the loser. Hockey is so NHL is so backwards in there. you get a point for losing. Like what? You don’t see that in any other, you know? No. Green Bay didn’t get rewarded for a tie, right? Dallas didn’t get rewarded for a tie. I I don’t know. But um yeah, I mean, look, it’s it is far from a finished product, but as we said in the episode today, think of the entire regular season as studying for a final. You can study however you feel you need to. You can go crazy right off the bat. You can wait until the last couple weeks before the final to cram and try to frantically study. Um, but basically use the 82 games to figure out your lines, figure out your goalie, add whatever you feel you need. Tage Thompson. Um, and then get into the playoffs and then make as much noise as possible. That’s that’s pretty much what it comes down to. Yeah, 100%. And uh, you know, this Kings team is such is they’re so weird. They are really hard to figure out. I mean, for a majority of that game, it didn’t even seem they seemed like they wanted to just get back uh back to LA. And uh they feel very much like a flip the switch on and off whenever you feel like it team. I mean you you look at Kempe and there’s not there’s not a whole lot of players, you know, there’s very few of them that can just, you know, it’s just he’s just like Capri off. You know, they can they can turn it on on a dime. And uh you know, Biffield might get there at some point. Uh they just uh they they need more offense. I don’t know. They’re uh um they need to add add to their offense for sure. They could really use uh K Thompson. Yes, that he perfect perfect for LA, you know, and he’s coming here. You can really you can really tell Copitar is on his last legs, too. Um it’s Yeah, it’s uh it’s too bad because he’s gonna be a Hall of Fame Hall of Famer, but uh yeah, I think it’s probably you know, you know, correct decision to to hang him up. Um, great question by Dylan. What do the Wild have for cap space to try to add someone of note? Uh, so I’ll explain it out like this. So, the Wild have officially uh fourish million in cap space. I’m pulling it up on Puck Peter right now. Um, $3.5 million in cap space right now. But if they limit the moves that they make between now and the trade deadline, they could have they could have excess of $20 million in cap space. It just depends on how much cap space they acrew on a daily basis. And if you don’t make roster moves, if you do the thing where you’re like, “We’re going to only carry 22 players,” stuff like that, then you acrew additional cap space. And if the Wild do that a bunch between now and the deadline, um, they could have, you know, now it looks like the number is $16.2 million. Uh, but I think that factors in having Mattello on What? Locked on Sharks put in the chat. Oh, ick. Plenty of space for Barkley Goodro. Remember the Remember the drama with Barklay Goodro where uh uh instead of uh we’ll come back to uh we’ll come back to that from Alex. Um, I think he may have accidentally exited out of the of the chat, but basically if Oh, there he’s back. There he’s back. I don’t know what happened. Oh, what I was going to say was I don’t know if you heard me, but uh um you know, Goodro had boy, the internet just does not want this Berkeley Goodro point to get out. It’s [Laughter] B Barclay’s agent is uh um hacking the hacking the freaking internet. I don’t know. We’re we’re being we’re being targeted. We’re being targeted. Uh anyway, uh third time’s the charm. Can you hear me? Yeah, we got you. Okay. I I was um Barklay Goodro uh he had San Jose like on his no trade clause and so they just released him instead and then San Jose picked him up. It was it was so scummy by jury. Yeah, I don’t need that. I need Tage Thompson. I need Tage Thompson and Conor McDavid immediately because clearly I’m kidding. Um, go get Tage. He’s making $7 million a year every year until 2031. You can fit that in your cap. You can fit that in your cap wherever you want. I still maintain as if Buffalo continues to Buffalo, he will be available. just just hope that somebody there doesn’t flip on a light switch and say, “Hey, we should do something about this,” right? Yeah. I mean, even our old friend Jordan Greenway’s on the IR, too. They like to have everybody hurt. I think Josh Norris is out for a couple months now, too. Yikes. H um welfare check on the Sabres. Oh, they scored a goal. There you go. Uh, who scored it? Taage Thompson. It’s like the It’s like the Chris Paul meme where you you know he makes a you know you see it uh hits a three to cut the lead to 30. Yeah, he he’s got 53 points and they’re losing by 40. It’s like sick performance. Um, where did you put Zuki when he comes back? That’s a good question. And back with Capri off probably. That’s probably what they’ll do. But honestly, Gold Baldi Goldie with Eric Sak again. I wouldn’t mind seeing Zukarella with Terraenko because I think the playmaker shooter thing can work. But yeah, I will just read the tea leaves and assume that John uh John Hines will put him uh put him back in the top line. It’s nice to see some signs of life from uh um Terasenko tonight rose from the dead. Um couple apples, but I don’t know. It’s He’s weird to figure out here still. I don’t know. I don’t know why he was out for the shootout, but Who knows? But um yeah, I see I see the chat. I see, you know, keep Cap and Bully together. The Yeah, I would love that. It’s just, you know, it seems like again the second line is still, you know, that’s that’s where that’s where Baldi and Eric’s Neck could, you know, get get some chemistry. And then, you know, you know, Zukarelloo’s got that with Capri off. Yeah. I don’t know. They need they need a second line if they you know in the playoffs they it keeps happening where they just have one line and that um that doesn’t get it done. They can’t keep getting away with it. You know this is you know this is setting up for another rematch with with Vegas. It just and this time God and this time they have Marner, you know, so it’s like and they’re going to be able to use that uh Petrangelo money to get a better defenseman, you know, because Peter Angelo. Yeah, Peter. Uh so yeah, uh it’s just setting up for another Vegas. At least this time we won’t have to worry about Nyquest. He had an assist with Winnipeg in their most recent game. Um I think Jonathan Taves did too and I’m like well that’ll be the last one they have for a month. First first point in a couple years. Yeah. Awesome. Sick. Well a uh a good win again. Hashbankpoints. Umame3. Uh that’s that’s my takeaways from uh that’s my takeaways from this one. Uh we’ve got another game coming up Mñana against the Dallas Stars. Philip Gustoson should be in net for that game. Um beyond that I don’t know. I I don’t think Yurov warrants getting pulled out of the lineup. I wouldn’t pull Ogrren. Maybe you pull Vinnie. Um I don’t know. I I don’t I don’t think Villy was I don’t think Vinnie was a problem either. Um you know, it’s just he had a nice screen on the on the goal, Spurgeon’s goal. Yeah, that was that was a gorgeous screen. Um yeah, so I don’t know. Uh again, we’re we’re still we’ll s we’re still in the early part of the season, so we just continue to uh continue to evaluate. We get to about the game 10 mark and we’ll uh we’ll have a little better beat on where things are at. We will have a postcast for you tomorrow night uh after the Dallas game as well. So you can tune in then. We’ll have an episode for you uh in the early afternoon tomorrow. Again, I like to uh I like to wait till after morning skate just to kind of see some of the things, see what we’re doing with lines. Uh but we’ll uh we’ll dive a little further into the standouts from tonight, which again for those uh keeping score at home, Yesper, the power play, and Denilov. So, we’ll talk a little bit more about those three for you on tomorrow’s episode of Lockdown Wild. again. Appreciate all y’all listening on a nightly basis. Late game late game tomorrow, too. Uh, which is which is good for the for the Wild. Yes. Thankfully, thankfully after a shootout, they get a late one tomorrow. I think of a rip about no sleep. Uh, so we’ll uh we’ll see you tomorrow night right here. Make sure to like before you head out. And uh as always, thanks for listening and uh we’ll catch you on the next one right here on Locked on Wild.
The Minnesota Wild improved to 2-1 after a 4-3 win over the Los Angeles Kings on Monday night at Grand Casino Arena. The Wild led 3-0 after 1 period on the strength of Power Play goals by Jared Spurgeon, Kirill Kaprizov, and Matt Boldy. But the Kings answered back with 3 goals in the 3rd period from Kevin Fiala, Quinton Byfield and Adrian Kempe. After the Wild killed off a penalty in Overtime, Jesper Wallstedt made 4 saves in the shootout and Marco Rossi scored to win it for the Wild. The Wild will head to Dallas for their next game Tuesday.

Wow. Giving up a 3 goal lead in the third. Why in the fuck am I not surprised.
Yurov and Walley definitely looked good. 5 on 5 is horrible for our offense.
Jesper looked good Tonight. Good work Seth keep up the great work. Ufff 4:45 is to early 😮
Wild avoid the complete collapse. Jesper was serviceable……Dallas North Stars tonight so no rest for the wicked……..I expect no lineup changes…..Per Russo, Haight was sent to Iowa and Jones was recalled. He alluded to, or inquired on, whether that was going to happen with Jiricek too. It's to keep Haight playing hockey instead of sitting in a press box. If Jiricek is going to be the 7th man it's probably best to send him to Iowa too.
Last night is the start for Edmonton fans asking why in the hell didn’t we draft him. On the shootout he was so square to the puck against outstanding shooters, what a one / two tandom with gusty.
