Houston Astros Sign Nate Pearson My Thoughts!!
Yo, what’s going on guys? It’s Houston Sports Talk back in the video day and today Houston Astros have signed Nate Pearson. the Astros end of the season was a downfall and I think when a team like the Houston Astros have had so much success in the past almost decade when they have a situation like they did at the end of the year where they missed the playoffs for the first time since 2016 and they they have the second half of the season the way they did after the moves they made at the trade deadline which was not they weren’t sellers they were big buyers and you see what happened in the second half of the year you just knew watching what the end of of the end of the season. What happened to this team? This would be a long off season. Maybe it’d be a good one, maybe it’ be a bad one, but you knew there would be a lot of things happening for this Astros team in the offseason and there’d be a lot a lot of things to figure out. And this is one of the first dominoes to fall. The Astros, you know, earlier last week or late last week were in the headlines for letting guys go. Uh a long time hitting coach has been throughout, you know, throughout with the Astros. the throughout this entire run, Alex Centron was let go. The Astros also let go of Troy Snicker, their other hitting coach let go. A lot of other coaches as well, their their head of the medical staff. They let go a lot of a lot of coaching, you know, a lot of guys on the coaching staff. Now, they make their first signing. Now, you’re wondering who could they sign? Free agency hasn’t even begun yet. The MLB World Series hasn’t even started yet. The ALCS and NLCS aren’t even over yet. But the Astros have signed Nate Pearson pitcher who they signed to a one-year $1.35 million deal. This is a major league. This is a major league deal. And according to Chandler Rome, which I’m not a huge fan of this, the Astros bring him in as a as a starter. Keep in mind, Pearson has pitched 123 games in his career since taking over in the major leagues since 2020, and he’s only started in six games. I I don’t mind the signing. This is cheap. It’s a $1.35 million deal. Yes, Pearson struggled a lot in 2025 with the Cubs, playing 11 games, 15 innings, giving up 15 earned runs, right? That’s that’s true. He really struggled. His numbers were really bad if you look this year, but Pearson was really good in 2024 for the Chicago Cubs. 2.73 RA in 19 games in one start, 26 innings, eight earned runs with 23 strikeouts in 2024. So, I look at the way Pearson pitched in 2024 for the Chicago Cubs pitching some great baseball. And I know that, you know, I know that the Astros, you know, this might not be the greatest addition with the fact of his struggles last year, but also consider the good baseball he played in 2024, $1.35 million deal, that’s not terrible. But turning him into a starter is something I don’t love. If this was an addition to improve the bullpen, I’m in support of this signing for the Houston Astros because but because of the reports of it not being that and him coming in to be a starter, I don’t love this addition for the Astros. But this is a, you know, lowrisk, highreward situation with the fact that this is a $1.35 million deal. It’s one year. So you guys know your thoughts of the signing in the comments section.
What do you think about the signing??

He's gonna be given a chance to start and earn a rotation spot in ST. He's more or less depth though not Framber's replacement(/s). If he cant stick in the rotation, he'll get a chance in the bullpen.
He's a former top prospect with excellent stuff but no control. He's worth a look even if it doesnt work out
