Post-Game | Ryan Huska – 18.10.25

Ryan, when you look back at this game, um, you know, in your mind, in your staff’s mind, where did this one get away from you tonight? Um, we made some poor individual mistakes in the first period that cost us three goals. We gave up three chances in the first period and they were mental mistakes from um, some players. The majority of the first period was really good and then I just didn’t think we had any push back from that point. when you’re faced uh with a situation where you’re dealing with a bit of diversity like you are now, how much do you kind of look to your group of six, seven leaders that you’ve talked about before to to drive the bus and and and kind of try to set things the right way? Well, you need you need your your best players to be your best players every night. There’s no question about that. I thought the Cadri and Hubo Farbey line, I thought they were excellent for us tonight consistently. They they had the puck a lot. They were dangerous to me. they were they were good players for us. Um the challenge becomes it’s everybody, right? You can’t just rely on the the one group of guys and I don’t think um we had enough other players that were as engaged as that line. The Zary line with Lombberg and Clapka I thought gave us a great effort tonight. Um two good fights from the the two guys on that line. Um but we didn’t have much from the other two two lines tonight. as a whole. How quickly do you absorb the lessons learned tonight now and look ahead to Monday with Winnipeg coming to town? We have to Well, tonight’s going to for sure you’ll think about it. Um and then you have to turn the page quickly. That’s what that’s what it’s all about. We’re in a stretch right now where we’re we’re not playing um poorly. I I thought tonight’s game got away from us for sure in that situation, but it’s the the consistency that our team has to play with um for a full 60 minutes. So, if we get away from our structure or our detail or someone takes a shift off like we saw in the first period, there’s three goals that end up in your back of the net. And we need to be um more committed, I feel like, and more detailed for a full 60 minutes than what we’ve shown so far this year. [Music]

  1. What happened. It's like no one cares anymore. No passion, no care, nothing. At this point, throw out the playbook and just let the young guys play. If I were team owner, I would say no one is off the table, from coaching staff to players.

  2. Honestly?? It was a bad night, plain and simple. It happens, y'all!! 🤷‍♀️ This has been a rough start to the season, but it's still just THE START.
I love Huska's attitude: you can be upset tonight, but this game is over. Festering in frustration is not the way. You gotta keep looking ahead and focusing on the next game!!
With that said, GO FLAMES GO!! ❤❤❤ I can hardly wait for the next game!! Loved Klapka and Lombo with the fights tonight, I really hops we get to see Klapka be unleashed more often 😍

  3. Bahl had a bad night.. Wolf looks shook.. you know things are sad when Hubie's the only one going to the net and connecting offensively.. and these guys can't hold onto pucks.. the forward groups are too afraid to pay the price up front…

I saw many situations where a forward would have room to take a couple more strides and be in a great spot to beat out the defender and shoot from the slot.. instead, they turned back to the outside looking to pass to trailers that were not even coming.. that's fear..

If a team's too fast for you (because your skating is trash), lay on the body and be on the lookout in your own zone… awful defensive awareness tonight…

The vegas powerplay did the exact same move to them 3 times.. protect the slot! Jesus.. why do the flames have to re-learn basic defense every couple of months..

It's frustrating because I think this team can be good.. it makes me wonder if there's something very wrong with their preparation

  4. everyone needs to chill, we have the same lineup that over achieved ? we can have a last place finish and get the #1 pick and be just fine next year…keep on supportin !

  5. Let’s call a spade a spade. Aside from Zayne Parekh there is no true élite talent on this team as it stands now. Better hope they win the draft lottery.

  6. The Rookies are not cutting the cake. Calgary Flames need a few high-priced forwards to get the team going. 1 win dismal. Huberdeau is only one guy. Its not enough. I know Calgary Flames wants to keep their price cap low with rookie players. Vegas Golden Knights loaded with forwards fire power. I feel for Calgary Flames.
