NHL Highlights | Oilers vs. Red Wings | October 19, 2025

And just as we saw in downtown Detroit this
morning, the hockey season, it’s a marathon, not a sprint. The two captains, they face
off Dylan Larkin and Conor McDavid, who’s an impossibility with the way these two guys play and
the numbers that they’re able to put up. There’s a save made. And speaking of Jake Wman, he signed a
big deal with an injured ankle, then reinjured it. able to go in the playoffs. There’s a shot from
Apple, especially with Kane unable to go to get him back. The winning goal here versus Toronto
and injured at Toronto on Monday. Right in puck loose and got cleared away. What a great chance
this is early in a hockey game. Hook and play off a skate right to Andrew Cop. He’s alone. He
tried to go five hole. Evan Bard to pick it up. He’s really struggled early on this season, but a
good young defenseman from the turnover has been his issue. There’s a good save off Echolm, his
defense partner. Dryidle, he got knocked down at center ice by Larkin, who finds Finny on the
wing. Finny with a shot and that’ll be gloved by Steuart Skinner. Hang on. I’ll say to that, the
wing wheel has discovered a taxi. There’s a shot from the Brinket got handled by Skinner and a
bright future with the Wings they hope and a save there by the goalender currently. A save by
John Gibson. The Oilers with at least one point in seven consecutive against Detroit and they won
the last three in this building. Franc Negard with a good move in tight and a nice save off to
Brinket in search of his first goal of the season. again for a second time and Carolina. Look at
this. Berg on the left wing cuts to the goal. Didn’t have much to shoot at and a save made
and Skinner kept it moving. Boy sure could have used a goal there. He said trouble taking
advantage of the time he’s in the lineup, but something like that can really catapult you
into another game real quickly. Koulak’s pass deflected in by Isaac Howard. Ben Sherro onto
his backand tipped by Cop. Van Remdsteike up there along with Steter. Van Remsteike press and
he panned on a bouncing puck in front and another shot in by Cop who’s had two chances. Look at
that pressure and he got knocked down by Sher. Loved and we’ll get a face off in the
Oilers zone with a dozen seconds to go in the period. Played it up the wall for Kaan. On it though is Cop. Escapes a hit. Looks
to center. He does. Loose backhand shot played it up the wall for Kaan on it though is
cop escapes a hit looks the center he does loose backhand shot Van Reamsteike 12 of the next
16 are against non-playoff teams but that’s where the Red Wings have to rise even more
because you don’t take anybody lightly scores what a shot Dylan Lurin off a one-time
from Ben Sherro and it’s one- Nothing. This is This is almost almost L like dry.
Larkin wins the draw. Goes to the slot. And this is really an awkward play to make. Boy,
oh boy. It’s very awkward. And to be able to pull it off. Look at the pass by Sherrod’s
got to be over the stick and right on the ice as it hit the ice. should hit the stick
of Larkin the blade. Two Oilers are back. Back gets fed in. Comes to Larkin. Plays one
back to the line for Bernard Docker. Finny in front. Roots. He scores. EMTT Finny
with number one. And it’s two nothing. All be done. We’ve got some puck retrievalss going on early
this season. EMTT Finn’s got his first. A strange play. The puck, this is the end of the play.
I mean, a nice rebound that there’s not much the goalender could do about that puck was
tipped on the way to him, but the the dump in the pressure by Detroit. We’ll get a chance
to look at that. Vinnie gets loose from the two defenseman right in the middle. makes no mistake.
And he’s put on about 20 pounds since then, too. Two nothing. Scores. They get it right back. Two to one game with 735 to go in period two. Well, Edmonton with some goes to the front of the
net and that’s been a complaint they’ve had. Boy, this baby’s going to change direction big
time and your goalender can only hope it hits him. It doesn’t and you have a one-shot
game. But to the front of the net they go. Great tip. Nicely done. David, his pass back
for Dryidle didn’t work. And out the center it comes and then knocked away by Finny.
Finny drives the net. backhand shot and then he drove Skinner right into the net.
Fortuitous bounce there for Detroit. Penny in the middle to Larkin. Larkin driven
wide by Frederick. Put on the brakes onto his forehand now. Larkin toward the goal.
Score a seeing eye shot and it’s three to one. Boy. Oh boy. living right when he’s go in.
Wow. He just turns around and lets it go. Does it go off an Oilers defenseman? No.
Well, it went off the left skate, I think, of Ekholm. And Finny had his stick right
there. I wonder if he got a piece of it. They’ll have to replay that a couple of times.
Nonetheless, huge goal for Detroit inside. That went off McDavid stick. Couldn’t corral
it. Larkin able to knock it out of the air. He’s got two and off the goalpost. That
close to a hattick and one hat hit the ice. Clearly post. Oh boy. And then you’ll watch when you’ll see this one here. The
post and here comes the lone hat puck in the Red Wing zone. McDavid, he’s on it. High slide. Echol feeds off
Koulak. They score. Dry Cidle. What a pass. his 17th goal on John Gibson. The most
Gibson has surrendered to any player in his career. Leon Dryidle’s done it again. Once
again, that’s that left hand shot on the right side. Edmonton with their pressure is able to
create possession and oh, slam dunk for Dryidle. Great pass by Kulak. Yep. So Leon dryidle has good play by Van Remsteike
to Rasmus. Stetcher coming back. Rasmus to the goal. Stetcher took him out. Loose puck. Van
Rejike on that. Played in behind by Cop in for Dryider. Knocked away from McDavid. Here comes
Finny. The speedster. Penny in a goal and a save made Skinner behind Barren. Now it’s in behind
the goal. Van Rebike centering one. Barren on it. Taken away by Ryan Nan Hopkins. Ahead
for Stetcher. On it there is Matias Echol into the slot. Knocked down by Larkin. That gets
cleared ahead. An empty net for Penny. Penny goes for it toward the up the goal. He scores. Damn
it. Penny’s got two. The Red Wings up by two. Boy, I’ll tell you what shot and Emtt Kenny with
a with a roller gets his second of the night. Oh my goodness, what a home stand this has been for
the Red Wing. Well, we know he’s a diesel engine and boy, he’s had a maintenance day yesterday.
no practice and uh boy oh boy this one probably 10 points for him in a six game point streak for
the Red Wings captain and yes the crowd standing

  2. Bowman has a lot of explaining to do. Gutting the 2024 core that made it to game 7 of the SCF, losing by 1 goal only to trade and let go of a vast majority of that team all while Florida has maintained most of their winning team leading to consecutive cup wins!

  3. This has been a great run by the Red Wings so far. Let's hope they can stay consistent throughout the season and that the young guys continue to get better.
