Dunks, shot making & more, Khaman Maluach shows out in preseason finale for Phoenix Suns | 10-14-25
But especially the veterans, you know, they they they notice all those little details. The rookies both playing hard and also communicating, asking questions before he is even re-evaluating. So the Lakers also in a process of kind of seeing what their team’s going to look like without the likes of LeBron. I look around and I’m like, I’m about ready to coop against these guys. These guys, the top guys ever. So he said it’s been really surreal, but also just a great experience for him so far. Yeah, that loose ball rebound box out especially on free throws tends to bring bad results for the defense inside. Malawatch takes him to the boom room. Dod for 14. Both he and Reeves has come to life here in this second quarter. Pass up top. Good recovery by the Suns rookie Malwatch up the Butler gets the finish in the foul. Great fast break. the rookie big man and and it underscores what the vets have said about him and his son’s able to get the back tap on the free throw miss but considering that was Luca as man. Yes, he can can you know in these situations he’s got to get better at it right now. He’s getting the opportunity to play here. Yeah, and you know he he hasn’t been on the floor a lot the last two years and again Malawatch defending that lob beautifully. Suns get the turnover. Good one up top. Malawats for the finish. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Malaw with the screen with a pocket pass. Rolls to the basket and brings the boom opposed to the facility. Getting in that game mindset. He said, “I like getting shots at the rim where we play and when the lights are shining bright. I like to get shots in the arena whenever I can and just get that experience.” He did it in Houston, in Memphis, and he said he was just working on his shots. And to not feel, you know, pressed to get the ball back into the hands of Devin Booker or Dylan Brooks or any of the other vets. Exactly right. Put the camera back on Book again. We get a chance. See, there’s certain things that you and I can’t do, you know, cuz we’re a little older. He was a number three prospect coming out of high school. Malawatch on the drive off balance. How about the finish for the young fella? Trailed by as many as 15. But Raby on the drive. Malawatch says not on my watch. Oh boy. Had Malawatch too. Oh man, he had
High-flying to the rim, stour defense, impressive range and more. Khaman Maluach did it all in this preseason finale as he showed off why he was the 10th overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. so maluach was who Dillon Brooks was hinting at, when he said there was someone he could mold into a pest like himself
UNBELIEVABLE
We got a good one
Not on my Maluach 2:27
whoa, Mal looked phenomenal! where did this come from??
That was a monster game for manman! He's going to be an allstar, sooner than you think.
17p, 8rb, 3stl, 2blk, 2ast. Start calling him stat 2.0!
1:17 love how he makes the defensive play here then runs the floor. Great job of the teammate for recognizing it and rewarding him with the touch inside for his effort. That kind of behavior from your teammates will keep the desire to run the floor and establish position after a defensive play.
What makes this moment so special is understanding where it all began for Khaman Maluach. He was born in Rumbek, South Sudan, in 2006 β a country torn apart by years of civil war. His family fled to Uganda seeking safety, where he was raised by his mother in a refugee community in Kawempe, just outside Kampala.
He didnβt even start playing basketball until around the age of 13, when a motorcyclist told him he was too tall not to give it a try. Not long after, he earned a scholarship to the NBA Academy Africa in Senegal, where his raw talent was shaped into elite skill.
Fast forward a few short years, and heβs representing South Sudan on the world stage β first at the 2023 FIBA World Cup, then at the 2024 Paris Olympics. After that, he made his mark at Duke University, showing he could compete with the best in college basketball.
Now, in 2025, heβs a top-10 NBA draft pick and already making waves.
Maluach made a lot of progress since summer league. He looks stronger and a lil more explosive.
He levels Luka with that screen lmao
Made Ayton look like a bum π
I hope he gets a lot mins this year
