On this day 20 years ago, the Cardinals played their final game at Busch Memorial Stadium: Game 6 of the 2005 NLCS.
October 19, 2025
The Cardinals lost the game to the Houston Astros 1-5, and the Astros then went to the World Series. Demolition of Busch Memorial Stadium began on November 7, 2005. The Cardinals moved to the current Busch Stadium in 2006.

Still prefer Busch Memorial post-1995 to Busch III. It isn’t that I think Busch II was irreplaceable; it’s that as someone that has been to 32 Major League Stadiums over 30+ years, the new Busch could have been SO much better.
I went to this game. Kept seeing people grabbing “memorabilia” Kinda wish I had joined in looking back.
After game 5 I thought for sure we were coming all the way back.
Drove from Northwest Ohio on a lark to watch the game with my buddy who lived in St. Louis. I bought one of the small bats as a souvenir.
