Instant preseason analysis on the Utah Jazz making a big shot to win vs the Portland Trail Blazers!
Good YouTube Quinn Wade coming in here because I witnessed the Utah Jazz get their first pre-season victory in Portland and them have the same record in preseason one to one win and three losses. But Portland, they let the Jazz get ahead 34 to 32 by the end of the first quarter, but they got the lead back and was leading in halftime because of 32 to 26 second quarter, but they allowed the Jazz to score 43 points to their 35 in the third quarter, while they did outscore in the fourth quarter by one point. It wasn’t enough for them to win, unfortunately for them. Big three was made in this game, as y’all know, to give them the lead. And they tried to shoot one. Jeremy Grant did, but it didn’t come close to being in the basket, so they had to walk off with the loss. But Jeremy Grant was balling. 31 minutes, 7 to 16 from the field, five of 12 from three, 13 of 14 from the free throw line. He ended up having 32 points. That’s real good. He was just knocking down them jumpers. Man, if your jumper is going, you’re tough and you’re hard to guard. Plus, most of the defenses are going to concede that shot because they rather you shoot it. and he was making them and he was making them pay and it almost won them the game as crazy as that’s going to sound. But he did get six rebounds. One of them was offensive with two steals, three blocks, also two turnovers and four person foul was a minus 7 and plus minus. Dei Aia 16 minutes, three or nine from the field or a three from the three-point line to a two from the free throw line. Three rebounds, three assists, one turnover, a plus six and plus minus eight points. um you you expect him to do better and you expect him to be a little bit more efficient, but he was working for those baskets and he that’s why he came up short a lot. Donovan Clingan was a little disappointing. He went two of four from the free throw line but went one to two from three and he was three of eight from the field but he played 29 minutes. You expect a little bit more. The best thing he did was crash the boards which he’s amazing at as a rookie now going into his sophomore year. U five of them was offensive, 10 total. you’ll take it. Two assists, three blocks. Also, he he has shown that he can be stifling at the realm. You’re going to try him. You most likely going to pay for it. But he did help them out a lot by getting five personal fouls. So, they didn’t fear him the way that you would think they would because of the rejections that he had in his game on him. One turnover, nine points. Drew Holidayiday, they need him to do a lot even though he’s older. um when their bench start playing and other guys get ready for the regular season, you know, he ain’t gonna have to do what he had to do in preseason, but he’s still showing you that he’s capable of it. So, that’s not a bad thing. That’s a good sign. If anything, eight of 13 from the field for him, six of nine from three, two of two from the free throw line. He did have seven rebounds and seven assists. He’s a team player. He’s going to always look to score and look to pass. He’s really good at that. Two steals also. He did have three turnovers, though, and two personal fouls. That was all right. He was a minus two and plus minus. He ended up finishing with 24. And then Shaden Sharp, he didn’t lead the team in scoring, but he did take a lot of shots, which actually was the most on the team. He also played the most minutes with 35 being played, six of 17 from the field, two of nine from three, six and seven from the free throw line. Three rebounds, one of his offensive with three assists, a steel, four turnovers, three personal fouls, and a minus three and plus minus with 20 points. Chris Murray, 19 minutes, 101 from the field. It was a three, but he did go to a four from the free throw line. Finished with five points, six rebounds, four of them was offensive, which was good effort and energy. They needed it to stay in the game. Um, two assists, one steal. He did foul out with six personal fouls. So did Young. Um, two, he ended up having six. They kept attacking him. So he finished with three points, a minus three and plus minus went. One of two from the field because he shot 101 also from three. No free throws, one assist, one steal, one block, three turnovers for Young. This was the worst game he has played since he’s been a NBA player. Caleb Love 21 minutes, six of 12 from the field, three and nine from three. One and one from the free throw line, three rebounds, two of them was offensive, two assists, one steal, one turnover, three personal fouls, a minus six and plus minus 16 points, which was the best off the bench. He was the only guy to get in double figures in any statistical category. Um Blake Wesley 18 minutes, one of four from the field, 03 from the three-point line. Four boards, two of them was offensive, three assists, one steal, two turnovers, a plus one and plus minus. He had two points. City 16 minutes three or six from the field, one to four from three. Four assists, two steals, one turnover, five personal fouls, a plus eight and plus minus seven points. And then Ryan, eight minutes, one to two from the field, one to one from three. three rebounds, one assists, one turnover, four personal fouls, and was a plus one and plus minus. They all scored off the bench. They all almost helped on the rebounding end, and they all helped with the assist, and most of them helped on the steel end of the stat sheet, which shows you that they can play well together. They can do some things, but they do need some other players to step up when the season start if they’re going to get wins, especially against top level opponents. 40, 90, 44% from the field. Um they shot 38% from three and 82% from the free throw line. They did a good job um with the the rebounds and the assists. And they did a good job getting the steals and blocks and turning the ball over and getting the personal fouls. They did that well. The Jazz, the team that actually won this game cuz Steve Mai Luke hit a nice three. He was wide open, which is something you don’t want to see if you’re a coach with the game on the line, but it happened today. And that’s why you don’t leave NBA players open because they got a good chance of making it. Lori Marketing 20 21 minutes, six of 10 from the field, one of four from three, two, two from the free throw line. Three rebounds, five assists, one block, three turnovers, four personal fouls, plus 11 and plus minus. He finished with 15. You know, it’s good to see him do other things besides stick himself in the corner and try to shoot a three. It was good to see him switch it up a little bit and do some other things. and he also is a decent passer if he needs to make one or do a dribble handoff. But that’s something they got to continue to work on as they continue to add perimeter players to this team. Kyle Filipovski 24 minutes, 207 from the field, 104 from three, four from the free throw line, nine points, two rebounds, two personal fouls of minus three and plus minus. Walker Kesler 26 minutes for him, six and nine from the field, one from three, one two from the free throw line. They even got him out there shooting threes, but he made it. So, he gonna keep taking them, I guess. 14 points, 10 boards, a double double. That’s very good to see because he was on the perimeter sometimes, even defensively. Five of his rebounds offensive. He also found a way to get eight assists, almost a triple double, two steals, and two blocks, one turnover, three personal fouls, a plus 11 and plus minus. A real game from him. was very very good to see him do multiple things and do it at a high level in the minutes that he played. Steve five of 13 from the field in 26 minutes, five of 10 from three, 15 points, four assists, two boards, two turnovers, plus four and plus minus. Just a great game just filling in the gap. Just making sure you had the right spots at the right time and just taking high percentage shots when they’re given to you. Kante George creating some of the chaos. seven of 11 from the field, three of six from three, three of three from the free throw line, 20 points. Um, he ended up having the most points on the team, one rebound, two assists, two steals, one block, two turnovers, a plus 11 and plus minus. He’s going to have to play better defense if he wants to stay in that starter spot, which we don’t even know if he will be because Isaiah Culler and those guys are out right now. And I think that that was the battle that we want him or him or him or him. We’ll see what they end up doing with their lineups when the season is young and as it continues to go on. John 10 minutes 03 from the field 02 from three, two or two from the free throw line. Two points, three rebounds, one of them was offensive, one turnover, plus three and plus minus. Taylor Hendricks 25 minutes, three or four from the field, one from three, one and two from the free throw line. Eight points, seven boards, two of them was offensive, two assists, three personal fouls, a plus six and plus minus. He was good, man. Taylor Hendricks had a good preseason. The man was very efficient and he took shots he knew he could make. That’s what you should be doing. It sounds goofy to say it that way because people don’t and Kee had that problem, you know, throughout his career and you could be trigger happy too as a player because you get the ball a lot. But you still got to take smart shots to make good decisions unless you’re hurting your team. Um, that’s what I try to tell everybody every time I do an instant analysis. That does matter. Your decision making is crucial to the impact that you have on the game. Bryce 21 minutes four or seven from the field, one or three from the three-point line, three or four from the free throw line, 12 points, five boards, one assist, four turnovers, a minus seven and plus minus. You Nerkish 14 minutes, three of six from the field, six of eight from the free throw line, 12 points, four boards, two of them was offensive with assist, three personal fouls, and a minus 12 and plus minus. He did a good job of handling the ball and he did a good job of helping his teammates get good looks um throughout this game. Bryce has just been a bucket getter, you know, this whole preseason, too. And I think it will continue because they’re going to need him to be that for them off the bench. Moamba got on the court and scored. He went five of six from the free throw line, 101 from three, and one of three from the field. You happy to see that from him because you don’t really expect him to give you much. But if you can get this, you’re happy with that for sure, even if it’s in the regular season because he’s not going to play that many minutes either. Three, three rebounds, two offensive, two assists, one block. uh plus four and plus minus. Elijah Harkless 21 minutes, one of four from the field. 0 of two from three, seven of eight from the free throw line, nine points, two steals, one personal foul, minus 7 and plus minus. Matthew uh played a couple seconds, he didn’t do anything because of that. Walter Clayton Jr., he’s getting shots up, but he didn’t shoot that ball particularly well. 19 minutes, three of nine from the field or four from three to a two from the free throw line. Eight points, five assists, three rebounds. One of them was offensive, one steal, two turnovers, minus six and plus minus from him. You just hope he can be a better shot maker and and continue to keep the ball moving if he doesn’t have a shot that he likes or he feel like he should take. I like that he’s in that mode already because that’s what it’s going to be to be a role player and a team player. That’s where his career is looking like it’s going to go. So, he’s already buying into it. He already liking it. It’s going to keep him in the league for a couple years, maybe 10 plus. That’s still a good career. make some money, have some fun, who compete on the basketball court. More power to you, my guy. The rest of the guys did not play coach decision. 47% from the field, 36% from three, 80% 83% from the free throw line. That’s all they really needed to get this one done. They did rebound the ball decently. They did pass a lot, and they did make some things happen for them defensively, and they also foul less. So, the Jazz eaked out a victory. They needed it. They wanted it. They didn’t want to go home without without no wins. We already getting predicted by most people to be a bad team. Most people don’t see us making the playoffs. Let’s go out there and feel good about ourselves. Let’s go out there and play our game and show that we can go out there and play with the best of them. Portland, not one of the best of them, but you got to win these games, too. If you want to be a playing type of team and prove the doubters and the haters wrong, however you want to say it, the Jazz did a good thing today. They need to do more of it and they need to get a lot of their better players on the court so we can really see what they’re about and what they’re really doing and what they’re really trying to be and what they’re really trying to achieve this year besides player development. Got to get some wins and you got to be respectable. You know, you don’t want to be one of the worst teams in NBA history, which people do have them possibly being. And watching their preseason games, they can score. They can give up a lot of points, too. But they also been playing with a lot of their best players out.
