Russell Westbrook on potentially retiring after this season: “Yeah right.” 😭

  1. I will never in my life forget watching peak Russ from 2014-2019. Electrifying player that played with his heart on his sleeve. Triple double god. If this is his last season I’m going to cherish it. Man it sucks to see all the superstars in the 2010s age and get old. I remember when Kawhi, Bron, KD, Steph & Russ were running the league at one point.

  2. I love this man, I’m not gonna lie. People talk about Mamba mentality, but I need me that Brodie mentality.

    Why not?

  3. Don’t know if this has been mentioned elsewhere but am I correct in thinking Russ is the only former MVP to suit up for the Kings in their franchise’s history?

  4. Players retire when they are forced to whether it’s injuries, being too washed, family, burnout, etc. If he can find someone to sign him and his body is up for it why the hell would he retire?

  5. Which Sacramento King will u/MITWestbrook pin the blame on for Westbrook’s struggles this season and why will it be Dennis Schröder?

  6. He won’t retire til we finally get him like the tabloids have tried to will into existence for at least half a decade

  7. I truly doubt money is a priority at this point. I doubt even winning a chip is a priority. The guy loves to play and is okay with declining physically. He’ll probably still be playing at age 40.

  8. I’m sad he’s not on the nuggets anymore. I thought he found a solid home there

  9. He can be the new goat with his athleticism playing in China following stephen Marbury’s step

  10. ive always disliked the idea of going out ontop before you start declining. I find theres so much more substance and respect in a person going from star, to role player, then clinging on getting every last ounce out of their body, and pushing perhaps a few more years through injuries (assuming its logical) before retiring.

Obviously theres nuance here, and it assumes a player is on the roster 100% due to merit still, not reputation or who you know.

Its just such a wholesome fucking story when they battle on and give everything they have.

  11. Wouldn’t expect a different answer from Russ, but the reality is that the league is telling him it’s time. He had some good stretches for Denver, but benefited from the gravity and selflessness of Joker. Literally the opposite of SAC roster.

  12. He’s going to play for every team on 1 year deals with decreasing salary from here on out.
