The Bulls Just Did It AGAIN!
The Bulls just did it again. We just added a new two-way talent in Trenton Flowers. While three hours after getting him, decided to wave both Mac McClung and fan favorite Yuki Quamora setting the stage to see all how all of this comes together to start our big season. Hey, what’s up everybody? Welcome to Bulls Digest. Happy to have you here. We got a great show for you today. Um, a lot of trade talk. There is a lot of stuff going on quickly and fast right before the start of the season. So, we want to get to you guys up to date on everything going on. But before we begin, please do make sure to hit that subscribe button. We’re noticing that even though you’re stopping by, uh, only 32.5% are subscribing while the other 67.5% are not. You are going to want to subscribe so you guys can be up todate on all things Chicago Bulls, especially with the season starting and especially with everything going on with people moving in, people moving out, positions changing, all that fun stuff. All right, let’s get underway. So, this is our guy that we got in the pickup and he is Trenton Flowers. He is a raw talent. The athleticism is clearly there. So, let’s kind of break down what we see as his his talents, his good side. He’s got athleticism. He’s got length at 68. He can he can run the floor. He seems to fit in with the Noah Essenay group, the IO group, the Isaiah Isaac Isaac Isaac group, you know, like that kind of like 67 to 69 length and can run the floor. So, these are all really good things for us. Now, here’s the here’s the here’s the wrinkle. He is still a project. Let’s just call it what it is. He’s a project and that’s a fact. Those numbers are heinous. uh because he play he spent most of the league in the G-League and you’re going to see that in the next slide. So uh but this is the transition. This is what he did last season. So he’s not on the floor. His field goal percentage is down. He doesn’t have any points right now. He’s a project. He is a plug-andplay into our system. He is definitely not a starter. He’s a guy or or a side piece component coming off the bench at best. And we need to elevate him instantly. Otherwise, this doesn’t make a heck of a lot of sense to me. And the only reason I say it doesn’t make a heck of a lot of sense is because it seems like we’re doing busy work before the test of the season. And the busy work doesn’t move a lot of needles. You’re talking about three different players that are all kind of mired in that. Hey, we’re great in the GLeague. Let’s see how that translates to the pro. Well, it’s not translating yet. Well, now hopefully, and this is the goal, this is what they’re trying to do. Hopefully, Billy Donovan and our tourists, they’ve got the idea to get him mixed in with the young group and get him running. That could be really interesting. So, what did Trenton Flowers do in the G-League? You can see on the very bottom line, 20 points per game and um five assists. That’s the kind of production we’d like to see in the pros. He’s the only problem is he does he’s going to be off the bench. So, basically, every time he comes off the bench, he has to make a massive contribution otherwise he’s going to sit on the bench. So, there in the G- League, he was able to play. And when you’re able to play, that’s actually a better time. Be it’s it’s better developmental time for you cuz you’re out there more frequently. This is going to be hard for him. But if he starts working in practice and starts working with the younger guys, I think, and I’m I’m very sure that he could start to become a piece off the bench that could make a nice contribution in deeper ball games when you have foul trouble or if you have stretches where you got to get someone to breather and he can come in. I’d like to see his points go up significantly in the pros. that hasn’t translated for when he was with the Clippers. That could translate with him with the Bulls. So, let’s talk about some of these other pieces that were moved. Uh M. McClung. Um spectacularly uninspiring and I I like him. He’s a cool dude. We did a video before on it, but he’s not he’s he doesn’t move the needle for us offensively. He was the dunk champion. That’s his So, slam dunk trade for that. three hours later, you wave him because he’s really not he doesn’t fit aside from him being a former dunk winner. He just doesn’t fit on our team and he doesn’t fit our system and he doesn’t fit what we’re trying to accomplish. So knowing that we have this this is this is not a massive trade. This is an important trade because this will add to what we have going on with the youth movement and the young guys that are starting whether it’s Mattis, whether it’s Kobe getting healthy, whether it’s Giddy, uh IO IO is going to take a leap. Um this is all good stuff for us. The the the question is what does this actually get us? Okay. Well, the we also it gets us a lot. We also didn’t lose much. I love Yuki. So, this is what Will Got said. The Bulls also chose to wave fan favorite Yuki Quamra after his sustained medical condition in his right leg. So, to me that tells me Yuki aka Mr. Magic, he’s a fan favorite. I like him because for So, he wasn’t going to be great defensively except blocking and getting in lanes to stop short chip passes down low. He he actually had a couple of those steals in the preseason, but he wasn’t going to massively move the needle. And he’s really fun. Mr. Magic, I mean, he’s a fan favorite because he’s electric. He He’s a He’s He’s what you call a spark plug, an offensive spark plug to be able to slash the floor and be able to stretch the floor. So, aside from that, what else did he really offer us? Not a whole heck of a lot. He would have spent most of his time in the G-League, very similar to our guy Trenton that we just got. So the the only So the problem is we have too many young players who are taller, stretch the floor and are better than what there’s no place for them to play right now. So I’d rather he go somewhere and play, make a check, and have some fun. So what else do we have here as far as Trenton Flowers? This was the basic breakdown scouting report on what he offers the NBA when he started to come in. Um, you can see right there very clearly his athleticism is massive at nine. His size is good. We’re at a seven. His defense and his strength and his quickness are all good things. So is his jump shot. That’s in an 82. The only other eight I see on there is potential. Now, while we love potential, and everybody loves potential, we like reality better. I’m sick of hearing potential. We’re Bulls fans. We want to see some results. No more play in game. No more five just below 500. We need to see some we need to see a large leap this season both offensively and defensively and we need to see it fast and is he going to contribute to that? The answer is yes. But it’s there’s a question mark as to how much that determination will be. So knowing that we also have to say who are these people coming in to give a blow to or breather? Well, at his length, I don’t think it’s Kobe White, but you there’s there’s only so much time for Quimera. It was Kobe White. There is no way was uh that Yuki was going to see the floor cuz you can’t cut into his time. And if you look at those 20 points, the most important thing about those 20 points is it was actually higher towards the end of the season. And Yuki, I think, was averaging two to three points per game for his 10 to 15 minutes. That’s not going to cut it. You’re not going to replace him. That’s why we parted ways with him. And as far as Matt goes, that was just a splash signing that really was going to go nowhere because you couldn’t you can’t do anything with him. That’s my take right now on this. You guys let me know what you think in the comments section. I’m always happy to hear what you guys have to say. And before you leave, make sure to hit that subscribe and like button because uh without you, there’s no us. And we want to make sure that you guys are up to date on all things Chicago Bulls, especially with the start of the season coming right around the corner. Tip off is happening. It’s happening on the 22nd. So, let’s get ready to rock and roll. And most importantly, let’s go Bulls. Let’s go Bulls. Let’s go Bulls.

Why would you sign someone to just waive them? Just for the G league team I assume?
