Time is running out FAST… – Spurs make MULTIPLE moves
Time is running out for the San Antonio Spurs as Jeremy Sohan is due for a contract extension, but a certain deadline that will determine his status after this season is rapidly approaching. We have to dive into the Jeremy Sohan contract talks and some comparables that he is very likely to get nearer. But not just that, the Spurs been making moves. The final roster cuts have been announced and some fans are up in arms about what happened. We got to break it all down coming up here and we’ll start with this. Per hoops hype, the Spurs have waved. Adam Flaggler, Micah Potter, and Stanley Um. In addition, the Spurs have signed a wave. James Banks, Jamari Buouya, and Kyle Mangus, Jamari Buouya, legend, Austin Spurs legend. Of course, the roster is ready for the regular season with 18 players. And so, the first reaction I saw to a lot of this is, well, why did we wave these guys, right? Well, the simple answer is that there’s not enough spots on the team. Again, your regular season roster in San Antonio, you need a certain number of guys. So, what does this mean then? Well, these guys being waved. First off, I want to give a shout out to guys like Micah Potter, Stanley New Moody. They were brought in on exhibit 10, which are training camp deals, and they’re fighting for roster depth and development minutes in Austin, but they both showed they belong. And yeah, absolutely. I would also argue Adam Flagler had a great little stretch as well. But you can see Stanley Ammude 2425 G-League stats, 18.7 points per game, four and a half boards. He shot 37% from three. And you can see he had some pretty good preseason games there. 13-2 against the Jazz, three points against the Pacers, eight points against the Pacers the second time around, and he was pretty good. And Adam Flaggler, he looked like he belonged for sure in the preseason there. He played a bit of uh, you know, back in July in summer league, but against Guang Joey put up 10 points, six assists, I think a lob to WBY as well. Now, don’t bother too much with those G-League stats from last year because it was just one game, maybe two games, I believe. But yeah, he did look really good in the G-League last year and he brought some excellent shooting. Mah Potter as well, which is a guy whose stats I don’t have here, but he absolutely showed that he has the ability to knock a three ball down with the rest of them and he was quite physical. So, really, really nice stuff from them. But what this ultimately means is that Bismak Biombo has secured a spot. Now, I didn’t think this was necessarily in question. I think he’s kind of the perfect third guy to go along with Cornet at that five position. And again, Kelly Olen will probably play some minutes there as the season goes on as a guy who can shoot 40% from three. We’ll see when he’s healthy how the Spurs want to deploy him. But Visc Bombbo, as you can see here, he brings leadership, emer protection, and great character. I mean, ever since we brought him in last year, he started 26 of his 28 games last year. Of course, that will change now. He’s now the third stringer. But to have Bismbo on this team is such a feel-good thing for the Spurs. And you know, those locker room guys are so important. We saw it with Udonis has them with the Miami Heat for so many years. And I don’t claim to know that Bism has that same level of impact on the Spurs locker room. But ultimately, when you’re making these moves, you’re making these decisions, you are keeping the guys that give your team the best chance to win in general on any given night. And guys like, you know, Micah Potter is sort of a big, but he can’t replicate what Byombo gives, right? And with the Spurs lacking some center depth for years, especially that rim protection depth behind when Binyama, if say a cornet injury were to happen, god forbid, you know, knock on wood, right? Now, Byambo can fill in in those spot minutes. He’s 33. I don’t know if is it just me or does begamo feel like he’s 37? He’s not, right? He’s 33 years old. I don’t remind you guys of that. But he brings leadership. He brings locker room presence. And while I really hope to see these other guys thrive, I I think it’s going to be very interesting to watch the Spurs this year. And a final note on this again to have these guys waved. The question as to, oh, why were they waved? We get their G-League rights, right? So, right now in the G- League, again, our main two-way guys, guys like Harrison Ingram, Riley, Min, David Jones, Garcia. As far as I understand, we have G-League rights to guys like Flaggler, Potter, and Umude. Now, they could get claimed by other teams and stuff, but I don’t anticipate that. I anticipate the Austin Spurs be in a really nice funnel where if we do have injury trouble, the Spurs can make the best of it. So, I’m very intrigued by that. Leave your thoughts on all that down below. But, we got to transition quickly into Jeremy Sohan. And I talked about it. Time is running out. And the main reason for that is this. The deadline for the Sohan extension is tomorrow. As the recording of this video, it is Sunday, October 19th. So, the deadline is Monday, October 20th at 5:00 PM Central, 600 PM Eastern. If you’re on the East Coast like myself, unless something changes in the next 31 hours, it’s looking like he will be a restricted free agent next summer. So, you know, the ultimate question with Jeremy Sohan is how much can he reasonably get, right? And there have been a lot of contracts signed in the last little while. I brought up a guy like Nicolola Yovic who signed a bit of a bigger deal or not a bigger deal but I think it was like 156 million per year roughly. You had Keegan Murray out in Sacramento who I talked about a few videos ago. That’s maybe on the higher end. And then today Shaden Sharp and Tumani Kamara both signed deals. Kamar’s closer to I think it was what is it four year I think it was about 1520$20 million as well. So ultimately what this is painting a picture of is that Jeremy Sohan is looking to be about a 15 to20 million player. But then if you look at the stats, it’s like, okay, you can understand where Jeremy Soan and his camp, his agent might be coming from in the sense of like look at what he did when healthy for the San Antonio Spurs. And let me also say that the when healthy is a very big caveat here because he has had some injury trouble. Of course, recovering from a calf strain and then a wrist sprain that’s now going to keep him out of the season opener. Last year, he had some problems with his back. But so when healthy is such an incredible, enormous defensive force who can also slash very well. Well, he works well with WBY even in the twoman game. We saw it a bit. Might see it a bit less this year, but who knows? He worked well as an offball slasher. His three is coming along a little bit. He’s gone back to the two-handed free throw. Things are changing for Jeremy So, so on the open market, like you wonder now if he’s going to be a restricted free agent. San Antonio luckily has the ability to, you know, work in a give him a bit of a decent contract, a sizable one, should I say, for now. But the thing is in the future when you look at the Spurs payroll, guys like Stefan Castle, guys like Dylan Harper, WebMyama, these extensions are going to be coming in very soon. And with box on the max contract, you have to be very prudent with what you do, right? With a Jeremy Soan extension, you can’t just go throw him $25 million and say he’ll probably grow into it. I wish we could, right? And if we were a little bit, you know, if we didn’t have a Webinyama that makes this team theoretically a perennial contender within the next year or two, three, I don’t know. Oh, I maybe I’m getting ahead of myself. You might not worry about this too much cuz he’s one of your young guys. You want to lock him up, but a team friendly deal would do wonders for this team. And the question is then, will this happen? And I I to me, if I’ve just given my straightup opinion, I actually don’t see a deal being struck before that deadline simply because Jeremy San has been hurt. And I’m sure that he and his agent are going to want to show that they have more in the tank to get maybe a little bit more money. And again, that restricted free agency thing. If you don’t extend, right, and you just go to RFA, there’s that added pressure that other teams could theoretically come in and be like, “Hey, Jeremy, this is what we’d like to offer you. This is what we’d like to offer you.” It puts a lot more pressure on the San Antonio Spurs. So, ultimately, I don’t think it’ll have too much of an effect on his performance this season, but it does throw a bit of a I don’t want to say a wrench into the Spurs plans, but it’ll make it a little more difficult naturally when you can’t lock up the guy, one of your key young core guys on an extension. I think his open market value again 16 to 22 million and I’d rather keep him under 20 and I think as you approach 20 it might be getting a bit iffy again the defense is so so so good and the Spurs look so good defensively he very well could be an anchor alongside when for many years and years and years to come but yeah the time is running out right now and I still want to see so for a long time but look you see him in a lot of mock trades does his lack of shooting cause him to be a little bit of an odd man out when we’re looking at future trades to make this team better. I don’t know, right? I love Jeremy Sohan. You guys know that. But as the days go by, I start to wonder like, is there a world where I could see us moving on from him? But maybe that’s a topic for another video. Thank you for watching this one. And then let me know all your thoughts on the young guys, the wavings, the Jeremy so extension, all that down below. Honestly thought Flagler fit better than Garcia with Spurs ….
He knocks down 3s consistently & good playmaker
Sochan must be in roster whether in the starting 5 or not, he's a forward with excellent defensive skills imođź’Şđź’Şđź’Ş
I love Sochan but I can see Carter Bryant getting better in the next 2 years and also filling that role
This might be a hot take but the spurs should not offer him a contract and make him play out the rest of the year and see what he gets in RFA. If someone throws 20 mil a year at him we should walk. Jeremy just doesn’t fit in how the spurs play, you can’t just be good at defense anymore in the NBA, when he’s on the floor you are basically playing 4 on 5 on offense since he can’t shoot. Idk i feel like carter Bryant basically provides the same thing Jeremy does just on a rookie scale contract.
sochan a bum get rid of him
Just makes sense to let him go to restricted free agency if he wants more than the Toumani Camara deal that was just signed. He's not going to have some crazy market next year. The only risk is him having a great season from 3 and then costing more, but in that case you just pay more cause he's worth it
Sochan can still get his 12 paint points/game and play good defense. I would keep him if he can average 10 rebounds.
Spurs 2022 picks are all trash. Sochan, branham,Wesley.
He’s literally the only player willing to the “dirty work” for the SPURS! The only player!! Spurs better not lose him…
I think Sochan is out. Carter Bryant do the same as him bit he can make 3s

Sochan is just so cringe on offense….I can't remember any shot he takes that I'm thinking "yup that's going in!!". His points are from a dunk or a layup, anything else, forget it.
Sochan had enough time to prove his worth and failed…. dude is a brick layer in offense.
I want Sochan to be our Draymond of this Dynasty
I think Sochan is worth holding onto, rather it's starting or bench role. I think he's better coming in on the second string. If anything, I'd trade him, Vassell, Ingram, & first/second round picks for Markannen. I think he'd mesh well as a dependable starter with the Spurs. I'm just ready for Vassell to get the hell on somewhere… It seems like every single game is an off game, & he's the downfall of the Spurs progression. I'd rather see KJ playing his position… He usually scores with an and 1 every time he gets downhill. I think once everyone gets back up to par healthy, they are going to be one hell of a team.
