Go the other way to the Timberwolves. They’ll play at Portland to open up their season on Wednesday. The Bulls will be right here at the United Center to take on the Pistons. Veteran Mike Connley out there in his 19th season. 38 years of age, still a very highc caliber point guard in this league. There’s McDaniels. I like this match up with Buzzel. That’s going to be a good match up for Mis in terms of challenge tonight. Well, he’s done a good job defensively throughout preseason. He’s had to guard a lot of different guys. You know, he had Giannis a couple a couple of week a week ago and did really good against him again, you know, and Allen Cleveland. So he’s he’s been tested five blocks in his Denver. We’ll hear more about that from Casey Johnson tonight. Smith off target on the three. Go’s got the rebound. [Music] So Jones working on Randall again. Gets the help from Vuvich. Smith is covering Goar. So you see where the two bigs actually play into the favor of the Bulls defensively there. Giddy trying to muscle. Jones flashes and drives. step through in the kick and out of bounds. Another Bulls turnover. Well, if if they can show that they can play together and they see it very often late in the year a couple times last year that was Randall know Buchvich holds off Goar for the rebound. Well, Jaylen Smith is really a good compliment. Both him and Zack Collins are because they can stretch the floor and stretch forward. [Applause] Here’s Edwards. Otis got some nice praise from the fellow Lithuanian Yonis Valenunis the other night. The captain of the Lithuanian national team. McDaniel was a nice jumper from the baseline. That’s that’s high praise for a veteran like Valenunis who’s played a lot of international ball too to say what he said about Bales. We’ll dive into that later, too. Here is Mis and one on McDaniel. Oh, on McDaniel and with the left is how he finished with the left. Yeah, his first step he switched to the left. Pushed that ball. He’s looking to get to the rim and get to the foul. How much do you think that last 20ame stretch affected how Josh Giddy sees himself as an NBA scorer in particular? Well, I think he went into the summer recognizing some things he has to work on. He’s got to work on being a better defensive player, use his size to his advantage at 6’8 and and the outside shot. I think he’s really worked on those elements of his game and it’s shown here preseason. Edwards off target. Smith has it. So, the Bulls have worked themselves back and they look for their first lead and Connley ends up committing the foul as Buzzel was on the attack. [Music] One thing that we’ve noticed in preseason and this team has a lot of depth to it. Yeah, you know, we’re reasons before it’s been really guard dominated, but it’s so much balance on the floor and a lot of guys that can actually play multiple positions that are 67 68 St. We’ve been tracking that for the last several years now, right? More positionless in terms of how the threes, the fours, the fives are used now in the NBA. Even even a guy like Josh Giddy who’s 68 playing basically at the one. Kevin Herurder is in along with Dalon Terry Jones and Buzzel to the bench. There’s Brandon. He’s such a beast on that post. Well, they are building around Edwards and they’re sticking with the same core was looking for the foul. It’s a late whistle, but it is a foul against after last game. He said that’s a great role model to have. That’s like family to him. He says if he can live up to his uh example and have a 14-year NBA career, he’ll be doing something right. How about that? If he’s going to keep working like this, speaking about Buzzelis’s work ethic, how much he spends with coaches, exactly the example that Casey was talking about, he’s going to be one of the greats. McDaniels, nice fake. Nice step through by J McDaniels. And the one thing I I I like about Bis and we talked about this from the day one as a rookie. He just has tremendous confidence in himself. He doesn’t he doesn’t you never see him waver. You never see him. He just has tremendous confidence in himself. He walks with a swag a swagger to him and he just and he’s a good kid, too. Really good kid. Randle on the cross. Giddy was sticking with him. That’s a nice move by Julius Randle to make it a five-point Minnesota lead with a little cut that time. The shot won’t go but cut through and Smith found him for big to big pass. Nice job by Giddy to break up that attempt from Randall to find McDaniels. Venzo redhead on redhead there as he beats Herder to the basket with a nice cut off the double screen. Yeah, he just did a little wheel action that used the bigs as a screen. It’s no rebounds. [Music] There’s a nice challenge. Giddy is on Edwards. Now Phillips with the switch. Edwards time that three up right when the switch was taking place. It feels like the good shooters know when that’s about to take place. So he he knows the defense is getting ready to switch in and relax a little bit. McDaniel blocks. This is such a lengthy Minnesota team. Edwards on the transition [Applause] just has that that old school mentality. The way he thinks, the way he thinks, and you listen to him talk, he really gets it. You know, he understands about the who’s the best part on the league team. He said, “I am.” Yep. And that’s on a team with like the Durant and the Curry is like, “No, give me the ball.” That’s the same confidence that you appreciate about Musellis as a young player. Edwards has that. When I tuned in the other night, he wasn’t playing. I was like, “Oh man, that’s that’s Stacy’s guy, too. He loves Yuki. He’s my CTV.” Like he is he plays with such a like a joy of the game. They have to avoid having their key guys being out. That’s the that’s really the one thing that can derail them. Yeah. And their growth and development. There wasn’t a whole lot of turnover. They’re really focused on this core. They resigned Joe Engles, resigned the excellent Nas Reed, and resigned Randall. And they’re continuing to build around Anthony Edwards. Oh, and they got two young players and Shannon and Rob Dillingham who’s going to get some playing time this year as well as backing up Mike Conley. Yeah, both first round picks last year. They had two of them and both got chances to play a little bit, but didn’t really have the roles that they’re going to have this year. Randle into Collins. He gets that one to go and a chance at a three-point play. Well, he’s so he’s so tough to guard because he he goes left extremely hard and a lot of times, you know, give you a few minutes if you don’t remember right off the top. But I was curious. Well, there’s not a lot of them cuz again, that’s why I asked cuz they’re they’re rare to see. They’re they’re dime a dozen. Only a few of us out there and a few of us. Oh, good to see him hit a three from around the steel and one. And that’s what I like about Jaylen Terry. He says if he can focus on being that Energizer Bunny off the bench and a defensive stopper, he’s going to have an opportunity to play a lot of minutes. Oh, the Bulls with 13 bench points so far, but that’s been the that’s been the key for them in preseason. They’re bring the first two games against Cleveland. The first group got off to a slow start. Bulls are down double digits. They brought in the second group with IO and you know Trey Jones and Modest kind of floated in there with him at the power position and they came back and oh my goodness Edwards. He’s explosive man. Here’s he’s been one of those guys who has started a bunch in his career. Certainly in Atlanta. Collins the save. Collins the left would not go and it’s off of Zack to the Timberwolves getting ready to come back into the game and he’ll grab Herder. Six points in seven minutes for Kevin Herurder knocking down a couple of threes. Bulls have hit three of 11 from outside. All three of their makes came off the bench. Herder was good in his minutes today knocking down shots. He really when he’s on boy, he makes a huge difference. Bull’s offense in a four spacer.
