Cam actually played a good game and the offense actually looked much improved, he just had 2 or three mistakes that made him look much worse
Getting better every game.
Only thing that worries me about Cam is he can’t hold onto the ball. This is like the 3rd straight game the ball just falls out of his hands
Yeah i felt like the game thread was overreacting a little. I still see insufficient information as to if ward will be the guy or not but want to give him another season with a different coach and hopefully a somewhat improved offensive roster(however much it can be fixed in 1 offseason when we aren’t a dream free agent destination)
Did we watch the same game? Lots of those completions were check downs. His INT was thrown behind Chig. He handed them a free touchdown. Some good throws were made but let’s not make it seem this was a good start
Started well, dropped a bit then the Pats went into prevent.
That fumble is doing a lot of heavy lifting on the perception of his performance today
So many check downs in stat padding end of game, though? He started well, then did nothing for 2+ quarters best I could tell watching from the stands. Then when the came was basically out of reach he moved the ball but still didn’t score.
The first quarter was good. The rest was mediocre. I don’t care that he completed passes during garbage time. He’s got to play complete games. If he can’t, it doesn’t matter.
The good thing is Ward’s issues are largely fixable.
The main problems he’s had are struggling to hit receivers in stride on short routes (mainly slants), holding onto the ball too long instead of tucking and running, and straight up dropping the ball on his fumbles. All of those are common rookie mistakes except for the fumbles.
2 turnovers, neither forced by pressure
I don’t know what’s going on with the unforced fumbles, but I thought he looked good today.
We just aren’t able to get guys open downfield, it’s that simple. I was there, I was watching the WRs because I was curious, it’s just not happening.
He probably needs to start running the ball a little bit, because the time he’s buying in the backfield just isn’t leading to dudes getting open. Probably need to switch to a more one read and go mentality. But it’s tricky because if we had a single half decent WR, I don’t want him running.
Chig’s gotta catch that ball. I get that it wasn’t perfect, and Ward’s placement is a bit erratic, but I just don’t understand how we’re having such serious hands issues.
Cam has a fumble issue. Everything else after that I don’t want to hear about quite honestly. This roster is horrid.
Lined up today with our starting receivers being rookie 4th and 5th round picks. The right side of the line is god awful.
I’m frustrated beyond belief but when he cleans up the fumbles things will trend upward.
It’s pathetic quite honestly that at times today the offense showed more consistency with our best receiver out and a head coach with a week to prepare.
How many of those completions were check down or >5 yds?

If he could stop fumbling stupidly and throwing behind receivers on timing routes he’ll be in good shape
The most disappointing thing for me so far is extending plays and running has been less than I was expecting from him

Ward played like an NFL QB the first quarter. He played like a dumpster fire the rest of game up until the game was out of reach. He then padded in soft d. The biggest problem I see in Ward in every game is that his mechanics/footwork are lazy and his side arm improv puts the ball in danger more often than resulting in a positive play. And really what is up with the ghost fumbles! just awful!
Not amazing but much, much better. At least with Callahan gone, we can start to see some actual development week to week
I thought Cam played pretty well outside the obvious gaffes. Pats defense is good and our already thin WR core was down its best player.
That said, no one is popping champagne after that one. Still a lot of room for improvement
Cam played well in the first half but has stats boosted by taking underneath routes vs prevent D.
Hopefully it taught him to checkdown.
If it wasn’t for the fumble I wouldn’t have hated this game for Cam. The throw behind is just a shit happens thing which isn’t great, but isn’t the end of the world. The fumble should just never happen. Like Levis bad. This team is way too bad to be giving a free 6 points away.
We gotta stop babying the guy. He played like shit outside 1 quarter this week. Stat padding with check downs in garbage time.
Numbers look good, except for the fact that he gave the Pats defense as many TDs as he gave the Titans this game.
Nope-1 quarter of looking like a normal NFL QB. Then pure meltdown. Followed by garbage time stat padding and a really bad interception. That’s the reality of yesterday. Kid is not it.
