Remind yourself this is only Drake’s 2nd season.
1) Drake just set the franchise record for completion percentage in a single game (min 20 pass attempts), with a 91.3% completion percentage. Tom Brady's best game (completion percentage wise) came in Jacksonville in 2009. He finished with an 88.5% completion percentage.
2) Drake now has the 8th highest single game completion percentage in NFL history.
3) Drake just tied Tom Brady’s NFL record with 4 games with at least: 200 passing yards, 135 passer rating and 2 passing touchdowns. Maye tied the record in just his first 7 games this year.
4) Drake just became the first QB in NFL history to finish a game with over 90% completion percentage, 200 passing yards and 50 rushing yards in a single game.
5) Drake’s deep passing (20+ yards) is off the charts. His touchdown pass to Boutte to end the first half traveled 52.6 yards through the air. And that was his 2nd touchdown pass of the season with over 50 air yards. No one else in the NFL has more than 1 right now.
6) After yesterday, Drake’s now completing 80% of his passes on deep balls (20+ yards). To put that 80% in context, here's the leader in completion percentage on deep throws over the last 10 years:
2024 – Russell Wilson: 54%
2023 – CJ Stroud: 58.5%
2022 – Sam Darnold: 56%
2021 – Justin Herbert: 48.4%
2020 – Dak Prescott: 53.6%
2019 – Patrick Mahomes: 43.4%
2018 – Drew Brees: 48.4%
2017 – Drew Brees: 49.3%
2016 – Matt Ryan: 53.3%
2015 – Drew Brees: 44.3%
7) How has Drake stacked up against Tom on these throws? Tom's best completion percentage on deep passes in any single season was in 2016 when he completed 50.1%. Even in his historic 2007 MVP season, throwing to Randy Moss, he finished with just a 38.1% completion percentage on 20+ yard passes. In fact, Tom only finished with a completion percentage over 40% on deep passes in two seasons in his career: 2016 & 2021.
8) Drake is currently lapping the field of QB's in his 2024 draft class with deep passing percentage:
Drake Maye: 80%
Jayden Daniels: 41.2%
Spencer Rattler: 35.7%
JJ McCarthy: 33.3%
Caleb Williams: 33.3%
Bo Nix: 30%
Michael Penix Jr: 18.2%
9) Drake leads all of them in yards, yards per attempt, completions and touchdowns on deep passes. He's also the only one who hasn't thrown an interception on a 20+ yard throw (well, Penix hasn't either but he's only completed 2 of these passes.)
10) Drake currently has 7 touchdowns and no interceptions on deep balls. The only player in the entire NFL with more is the current MVP favorite Baker Mayfield (8 TDs, 0 int)
11) Drake currently leads every NFL QB in EPA per play AND success rate on passes that travel at least 10 yards down the field.
12) Drake is one of only three quarterbacks in NFL history under the age of 24 to have a six-game streak with over 200 passing yards and a passer rating of 100+.
PS Obviously Brady is the GOAT, so this post isn’t saying Drake Maye is better or another coming of Brady… just comparisons. (Statistics compiled by Mr. Dunn of Patriots Fans Worldwide.)

love the Drake
Baker Mayfield being considered for MVP is just silly but sadly that’s how the NFL works. If we lose only one or two games and drakes completion stays over 70% and he’s healthy there’s no reason for Maye to not get it.
Wish I had the receipts of all my friends who said I was crazy for wanting him badly and having him as my QB1 in that draft.
>Tom Brady’s best game (completion percentage wise) came in Jacksonville in 2009. He finished with an 88.5% completion percentage.
Not to downplay what Maye did, but this isn’t quite true. Brady had a 26/28 game (92.9%) in the playoffs against Jacksonville in 2008. His *regular season* best was 88.5%.
Brady had a higher percentage completion once in the playoffs against jags ’07 – ’08 season. 26 out of 28 attempts. 92.9%. That doesn’t make waht Maye did any less, but we should give Brady his due aswell.
My friends hate me. I’ve become a full blown Drake Maye lunatic. This guy has brought back my joy of Sunday football.
I love the guy but Bouttes catch was amazing, pass was off target but Boutte made a great play. Same thing on the fourth down to Pop. Well I don’t know if he expected Pop to sit in that spot or if it was a bad throw but Pop saved our asses there.
Drake is playing great but some of his mistakes are being covered up by some amazing WR play. They deserve pop too.
Maye had a turnover worthy play yesterday. That 4th-and-1 pass to Douglas was a full arm length behind him and only wasn’t a turnover on downs because of a [spectacular recovery by Douglas.](https://www.reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/1oaxm77/highlight_pop_douglas_saves_the_drive_with_this/)
I will keep adding the caveat that I was skeptical at first because it is only fair to own my poor predictions. But going all fan boy for a minute, watching Drake Maye lately feels so much like Tom Brady once he really figured it out. For the first time in years during a 2-minute drill I felt like I knew we would score.
At the end of the first half I even said to myself and in the game thread, “At least we will go into halftime tied or with the lead.”
It hasn’t felt that automatic since Brady and it feels so damn good.
Cue the Brady bots and the Jacksonville playoff game.
My goat 🙏
