  1. He has to send Jokic a Christmas card for making him play way better than if he was drafted by the Hornets

  2. Devils Advocate, is he worth 25m AAV? I guess that’s right down the middle of some of these other extensions

  3. Braun got paid for his fit with Jokic. Now we don’t have to consider how he’d look on other teams, just his value to the nuggets.

  4. Braun is a starter and this starter money. Reasonable deal for both sides. Think Braun maybe could get more money it free agency but its really risky for an extra 10-20 million.

  5. Fuck yeah! Christian is so much more important to our team than people realize

  6. Good lord that’s a lot of chicken. He’s a perfect guy to play with Joker though.

  7. This is *great* value considering what the Blazers just gave Shaedon Sharpe for shooting 31% from 3. The market is definitely warped but saving $5M AAV of the originally reported $150M is a good price.

  8. Before people freak out, this would be 9.4m back in the 2008-2014 era of an incredibly stable cap.

Players in that range were Gerrald Wallace and Cuttino Mobley. LeBron was $17m that year. Kobe $25.

Which is to say, this isn’t a crazy contract by % of the cap.

  9. There comes a time where someone is offering you $125 million guaran-fucking-teed and you have to ask yourself “why on god’s green earth would I say NO to that.” Braun had that moment. Great deal for both sides

  10. Braun is super solid so good for the nuggets locking him up. Super efficient, smart player.

  11. People really need to adjust to the new cap and stop basing opinions off of the raw number. If this deal is structured the same way as Naz Reid’s 5 year, $125 million dollar deal, then Braun will make about $22 million next season. If the cap rises by 8% next season, then $22 million will be about 13% of the salary cap. For comparison, in 2020, 13% of the cap was $14 million. Players who made around that much were Bobby Portis, Danny Green, Rudy Gay, Cody Zeller, Eric Gordon, and Marcus Morris. In 2015, 13% of the cap was about $8 million. Players who made around that much were Jeff Teague, Taj Gibson, Taurean Prince, George Hill, and Goran Dragic. 13% of the cap is starter level money. Christian Braun is a quality starter level player. This is a great deal for both sides.
