Is it just me or have the Giants not had many new players who “earn” their nickname while with the Giants in a while?
I also feel like the fans and team don’t lean into the nicknames as much as they used to. While we have a few nicknames like Grandson of the Wind, he already had the nickname from Korea and there haven’t been any giveaways or promotions regarding the nickname, to the best of my knowledge.
I recently learned that Samardzija was called The Shark but I haven’t been able to come up with more recent nicknames, much less about animals. We were really on an animal kick for a while, with the Panda, baby giraffe, horse, alpaca, and many more.
Small disclaimer: I did not watch much baseball during the second half of Belt’s career but remember seeing the fans wearing the captain’s hat. But even that was at least 3 years ago.
Are there any that I am missing? What is your favorite nickname for a Giants player? Mine is Big Time Timmy Jim, but no one even calls him that.

He’s taller than a giraffe.
Unfortunately the team hasn’t had many fun new players experience success in recent years and even fewer with personalities. Add no deep playoff runs since 2014 and you’re just not gonna get that fun fan base vibe
Nobody knows, but it’s provocative?
Bro who cares, have a winning season and then we can worry about all that.
Let’s not forget Luke “Jump Scare” Jackson.
Belt had to have hated Baby Giraffe. That was the weakest nickname and biggest reach ever for a player marketing ploy.
It’s all intials now: PB, JV, and BDSM
Panda, Thrill, Say Hey, Stretch, The Count, The Ripper, Hac Man, Dominican Dandy, Baby Bull, The Freak, The Reverend and Woody.
That’s what I got
