[charania] Atlanta Hawks All-Defensive guard Dyson Daniels has agreed to a four-year, $100 million rookie contract extension with the franchise, agent Daniel Moldovan of Lighthouse Sports Management tells ESPN.
Daniels won the NBA's Most Improved Player of the Year, was runner-up for Defensive Player of the Year, made first team All-Defense and finished with 229 steals last season, the most in a season by any player since Gary Payton in 1995-96.

Massive steal
Same as Braun
Ok, that Keegan deal looking terrible now.
I guess defense does pay.
I’m gonna nut
Really good deal for the Hawks
what a steal
Insanely good deal when you see what Braun just got
20-25 mil for Daniels is good, 30 mil would have been an overpay imo. Let’s see if Daniels can improve in the half court(esp FTs and 3 ball)
Wow, that is nice.. assuming it is a player option on the end cause this is cheap!
Decent compromise
That’s awesome
My god, thats Christian Braun money
I absolutely love it
These contracts are insane lmao. Its deserved. Just nba money is insane.
Really wonder what dorts next contract will be after his 5/87.5 finishes
I LOVE YOU ONSI SALEH
Yeah 25m a year for a 1st team all defense 22 year old who just put up 15/6/5 in his first real opportunity to prove himself on offense is just good business
Incredible deal for the Hawks, and Dyson sets himself up to hit FA after his age 26 Season
um what the fuck??
Crazy steal on a young DPOY player.
Hawks GM been on fire for some time allready 😀
Onsi is a real one
Season hasn’t even started and the Hawks already have a steal in the stats column
Smart. He’s gonna be an all star
This deal is a steal
Ohhh my!!
Great deal for the Hawks
These RFAs aren’t chancing it, think Kuminga made a mistake
Man SAC overpaid the fuck outta Keagan.
With the way Onsi Saleh has been able to get everyone on team friendly deals this offseason, it feels like the entire team has really bought into the system and believes they can be a championship contender. Hawks are in a really good position rn, just Trae left for extensions, kp already indicated he’s interested in resigning as well!
At this point you could argue that the Atlanta Hawks got more out of the Anthony Davis trade than the Pelicans did lol.
How is 25M a year a steal?
We’re seeing some of the returns on the new CBA. Guys like Daniels, Braun, And Sharpe would’ve been pushing for maxes in the last CBA and are now settling because their RFA markets won’t be great.
INSALEH ONSI
Hawks have Daniels and Okongwu locked in on affordable contracts throughout their youth and Risacher is in the second year of his rookie contract. Lots of flexibility
kinda love this Hawks team ngl
Every contract post is making me feel worse about Keegan lol
Same contract as international teammate Josh Giddey
Jalen Johnson, Okongwu, and Daniels might be three of the best contracts in the league. Hawks are killing it.
That’s a steal for the hawks . Obviously Dyson”s offensive game needs a lot of improvement. But he is still young and can only improve on that area of his game .
This is the only recent contract I’ve heard the terms of and was shocked at how low it is (rather than the inverse). Daniels is probably the best defensive guard in the entire league and decent efficiency and usage on offense as well. Daniels is also maybe the only guy who can reasonably cover for Trae Young’s complete absence of defense.
Something worth noting, since this is considered a steal at the moment, is that the hawks took dyson from being buried in the depth chart and unknown to MIP AND 2nd in dpoy. He made so much more money this offseason than he would if the hawks didn’t give him that chance and that goes a decent way
The Daniels and Sharpe signings are making that Keegan deal age horribly already
Great deal
Onsi Salah Speaks!!!
Fully deserved, possibly underpaid
Atlanta has been phenomenal with contract extensions the past 3 years. OO Jalen Dejounte Vit and now Dyson all signed below market value. Gueye is also on a great contract.
