Moses quickly over to Kulie. Oh, shoot. Hit against the wall. And you know they felt that one. Well, and that’s a tone setter. That’s sending a message to every player on your team. New York’s found some offense and now they suddenly have made this game a lot more interesting here in the second and they changed the momentum. Strung along the wall. Back to the blue line. Oh, one of his teammates is right in the shooting lane there. Puck is frozen and we’ll get a face off here in the late going of the period. Minnesota’s got a 32 lead at this point. New York’s got it and they’re on the attack. Sacrifices the body to block that in front. Swing and a miss. Oh, waffle force it to keep it out. That’s just textbook positioning to break up the play. The coach won’t be very happy with that play, James. And that’s a good way to get your butt. [Applause] A double take there, James. When you hear that sound, sometimes you think it’s this one goes in. I like the effort and intangibles to their game tonight, James. I mean it has been an uphill battle as they found themselves down in this game. They continue to battle to chip away. They were urgent on the puck and now they find themselves getting the equalizer. This power play feels like it’s in rhythm and it’s concise tonight here, James. Sometimes it’s just working for you. They’ve scored already on it and they’re looking to get another. Tries to feed it over to Sabinhad. New York’s got it along the wall. Middleton’s out of the box. He owes a lot of credit to that penalty killing unit. Solid check to slow him down. That’s the scores. Puts them in front. James upward trajectory as the games progress and they find the back of the net. This is the type of play that generates urgency up and down your lineup. When you see a player be that hard and heavy on a puck, use their size to their advantage and separate the opponent from the puck, you kind of stand up and you’re like, “Yeah, guy, keep it going.” And he finds a way to keep it going and makes a beautiful play that results in a goal. New York’s got to feel like they’ve got some extra energy now with that onegoal lead here in the third. Well, you can see the finish line, but you’re not there yet. So, you got to make sure that you continue to press change. You got to close quickly on your opponent when they have the puck. Don’t give them an inch in all three zones. Handles the sweet be. New York’s got it across the line. Minnesota’s got the puck. exploring options here inside the defensive zone and he moves it up to Sucarello. Back to the point. He set it up and it doesn’t reach the net cuz it goes off a stick. Feeds the puck to Fox. Shakes off the defender with some nifty moves. And that’s a smart heads up play by Zucarella. Oh, and a good heads up defensive play. They fight for it along the boards and it’s kicked away. Here he is. takes the shot and a great read to turn that play aside and the puck’s kicked free. That’s picked away with a pass by Isa Stricken and the puck stopper jumps on top of it to get a stoppage in play. Still lots of time left here in this frame. The Rangers lead it 4-3. Carrick won the draw deep in the defensive zone. Works it across to Radish. The Rangers move the puck in the defensive zone. Here’s a chance to get it out. Angles it over to Edstrom. And he took one hard. Coming off a heated battle like that, it’s important to allow those emotions to just simmer so they can cool off in the penalty box for five minutes, get some rest and some water. Action set to resume here after what was a wild couple of minutes on the ice there. Croch’s gain possession and is great work inside the faceoff circle pays off again. And that’s offside stopping the play. [Applause] [Music] Minnesota’s been the better team tonight in my opinion, but still they trail here in the third period despite having the advantage in shots. New York’s got the puck after winning the defensive zone faceoff. Carries the puck up through center. The Wild have taken possession in their own end. Here they come up along the wing. Quick shot and not much on that one. Shurkens got the puck and we’ll get a whistle here in the stoppage of play. Well, and this is a smart play, James. He’s made huge saves all throughout the game and this is a smart decision to be able to preserve the lead. He knows exactly where he’s at and he gets a much needed face off. Most to Schneider. The Rangers will play it from the defensive zone. Picked up by Paneran. Oh, and there’s a great save by Just the shot. Makes another stop. He has been under siege. I’m loving his compete level. I mean, he’s making consecutive saves one after another. Things starting to get a little physical out there. Scooped up along the wall by the frontier. Pass in front and that carries off a twig in front of the net. Takes the feed. Here’s a chance. A rocker off the blocker. Pass to Perau and he side steps the kick there. shot and that’s blocked away. Carer Senko’s crossed the line and is on the attack now. Slides the puck down low. Here’s a short pass to Rossy. Denied by the goender. Wow, James. I mean, not everyone can elicit a thunderous hit like that. I mean, he just clobbered his opponent. Nearing the midway mark of the period, this one has been a good back and forth contest. We’re sitting with a 4-3 hockey game. Oh, puts it off the iron. Had the side of the net, but doesn’t go. Minnesota’s players and staff are going to be extremely frustrated here. They keep wiring it off the post and get real good looks, but their shots are just a little too fine. Gets control of the puck here in his own end. Scrum along the boards knocked loose after that hit. You can feel the energy in the building right now in this tight game. The pressure is on. You have to find a way to embrace it at this moment. Big game in the offensive zone from the middle. steps inside, moves it quickly over to Miller. Tremendous block on the play. Well, an event really erupts on that one because otherwise it would have been in the back of the net. Picked up along the boards by Favor. The Rangers have it now. Slides it across. Oh, what a save in front. This is just great puck control to put the puck to the corner. No second shot opportunity. Caught gets a glove on it to make the save. Brodine’s last chance is going to ring off the post here. James, he is frustrated looking up at the stands, up at the sky right now. He can’t believe he didn’t put it in the net. More than half the period has gone by. Hope you’re enjoying this one. The Rangers have just had a little more offense than their opponents tonight. They lead it 4-3. New York’s won the draw. Just a little too much contact and couldn’t hang on to the puck. Quick feed to Carrick. Takes the feed. Steps across the blue line. Battle along the boards. The Rangers gain control of the puck against the wall. On the heels of their blades trying to get it out. Let’s see what the officials are calling. The Wild have to kill off this penalty. Crossing is the call. Whoever has the role in this PK unit knows that they not only have to kill this penalty off and keep the game within reach, but maybe they can be opportunistic and pounce on a loose puck for an opportunity. Another special teams opportunity for both sides as the man advantage is back to work again. Wow, this power play has already connected once looking to cash in again here. James, I love the options that they have on it. It keeps it unpredictable. When it’s unpredictable, real difficult for the PK to find out where to go first. The Rangers will play in their own end. And that’s picked off by Ericson. Minnesota’s across the blue line. New York’s looking to break out of their own end. Moves around along the half wall. Tried to get 2Q with it and loses possession. Close to finding a hole there and just an extra move. thought he had a little more time and space than he actually had in the play, guys. Stops it with the glove. Hartman’s ready for the draw as they will continue to try to kill off this penalty. Minnesota’s won the face off. Can’t get it to go. Nice bad pass off the boards. Looks like there’s a delayed penalty being called here by the officials. Wessel Blow stopping the play. Troche’s getting called for two minutes here by the officials. When you elect a cross check, you’re sending a message to your opponent. But if the official is there, guess what? You’re going to march your way to the box. A nice little break for the defenseman here. But one less forward to deal with as we have some fouron four hockey on tap. Not typically that we see fouron four action. Although it’s a lot of fun. You certainly know they practice it. This is something that they’re aware of. They know what they’re doing. They want to possess the puck and try and create numerical advantage. Shot. And that cars off a body in the lane. Here’s the shot. Makes a save and they’ll cover it up forcing a stoppage in play. Minnesota’s had a lot to like about their game tonight. The sided advantage in the shot department, but they still trail here in the third. The Rangers win the face off. Oh, it stays out as he gets a piece of that one and that’s knocked away. This is a critical play. I mean, this is a high danger area and he’s able to put his stick out at the right time and to be able to disrupt it. Not easy as a defender to have that kind of timing and an active stick. Couldn’t catch up to that pass. The Wild have the puck in their own zone and he can’t hang on after that hit. Capri’s got the puck in his own zone. Slides it on over to Middleton. Minnesota’s in on the offensive attack now. Too many bodies in the way. Gives him nothing in front. Middleton’s time in the penalty box is up and he’s got to get back to just finding his place within the game on the ice. And he gets a nice scoring chance right there. That needs to give him some confidence. He can play physical, but he’s also got to play with his brain. And they take possession after the defensive zone face off. Lets it go. Long jam in front. That’s broken up. And a quick save on that one. That’s a smart heads up defensive play by the friendier and they move the puck out of harm’s way. Whacks it into the offensive zone. Minnesota’s got it from behind the net. Nice feed from the right wing. Oh, he just misses. What an opportunity there. Well, just is a big word, James, because when you have an opportunity like this from a prime time scoring area, you have to finish it off. He doesn’t even hit the net. [Applause] [Music] Carrots ready for the draw as they continue to be short-handed here [Music] and they win the face off and set up to go on the attack. Quick pass to Hartman. Terasenko’s cross the line and gain the zone. Stones with the blocker. Rebound control is critical in the game of hockey. putting it to the corner and now the offensive player has to pound the clock. Makes the save and put up the power in front. You can certainly tell that the goalender has dialed in on that last sequence of saves. James, he’s to position so he finds a way to make multiple saves back to back. Look out. Here they come on the attack. Picks up the feed. But you play the game differently depending on the situation. And when you’re up, you got to know it. And you got to game manage and you got to puck manage that turnover. Coach isn’t going to like that one at all. Well, that was a 10 bell save. We’re going to get to watch it again here on the replay, James. But man, oh man, when you find the puck like that and you have the instincts and urgency and the desperation to attack it, that is one heck of a save. This is a face off. They’ll definitely want to win here inside the offensive zone. Minnesota’s won the draw it Favorvers moving the puck through his own zone. Good stand up hit on the play. Oh, he steps up with the glove to stop that one. So, I love what he’s trying to do here, James. He wants to separate the body from puck, and that’s exactly what you got to do. You got to play with a competitive edge and an intensity. A lot on the line here in this offensive zone faceoff. Rossley’s won the faceoff here in the offensive zone. And we’ll get a reset after the puck goes up and out of play. Late going of this period. Fans have been treated to a fun one tonight. Lots of offense. It’s 4-3. Rossy’s won the face off and now let’s see what they can do. Here’s a save. It’s always a challenge to make a save when there’s tons of traffic in front of you, but he does a great job of tracking, staying dialed in and makes the save on the backs again and he connects with the long ball. That’s how you get North in a hurry. Fantastic stretch pass. Here’s the shot. Great use of the stick to put it away. Well, you’re leading late in the game. You’ve got to find a way to kill the clock. You know what the best thing is to do? Make sure it’s not in your zone. That takes the pressure off. And that’s a smart dump right there. Takes the shot. Oh, he didn’t get all of it, but just enough to keep it out of the net. And change is coming up front as the puck is sent in deep. New York’s got it in their own zone. Tries to get the puck for Radish. Simple glove save by Sha Sturken. Goalender covers up. We got a stoppage in play. Let’s have a look at that last hit. I mean, that was absolutely huge, James. You know that this is a momentum change and you can see the bench erupt with that one. A big draw looming here in the offensive zone. Minnesota’s won it. Now they’ll go on the attack. And it fakes off a stick in traffic into the offensive zone. Minnesota’s got the puck in their own end. Capri off stick handling in his own zone and now it’s grabbed by Paneran. Moves it to the frontier. The Rangers played along the boards and he shuts the ball on that goalender hangs on for the whistle. Minnesota’s been very active offensively tonight, but they just have not been able to finish their scoring chances here late in the third. Carson has won the draw there on the attack. shuts him down and now he moves it to Johansson. He grabs the puck here at the point and that’s deflected off someone in front. The Rangers have it against the wall along the side. Here they come to the neutral zone. Dumps it in. The Wild have it in their own zone. Looks to get the puck over to Hartman. Chase it over. Oh, how do you miss that? I mean, it’s all part of the game, but Cheryl, you got to connect on that one. Well, you do, especially when you get those great A scoring chances. You have to find a way to at minimum get it to the net. But man, I think he had a little more time on his side and it just ricochets off his toe. I love watching saves like this. I can watch it over and over again, James, because you can see the competitive instincts in him. He is lit a fire under himself and his entire team with that one right now. I thought it was in, but clearly it was not. Getting into the later stages of this period, it’s a one-goal game here. 4-3 is where we sit. Erikson X won the draw here in their own zone. They go on the attack from the left side. Slides it across. Hans slugging the puck. Can’t keep a hold of it after that hit. The Rangers take it along the wall. Oh, had a chance to make a nice move and the puck disagreed with him. Plays by such a slick set of hands. He’s trying to manipulate his opponent one by one, but he tries one too many James and he loses the puck. The Wild have possession along the boards. Minnesota’s got it in their own zone. Knobs the puck down with a stick and now he angles it across to Paneran. Tries to dangle and the puck skips away. tries to feed it over to Felino. Oh, they telegraph the pass and he picks it off. Leading in late in the game, you know that the coach is going to choose players who are dependable and know exactly what to do at the right time. Putting that puck in deep is the right thing. And that’s stolen by Trean. Here’s a short pass to Spurgeon. Nice to see under pressure and he loses control here. And now follows and hits one of his own teammates in front. Puck is frozen and we get a stoppage in play. Minnesota’s offensive struggles have been the story tonight. Lots of chances, just not a lot of results. They win the draw and go on the attack. Zero fear on this guy’s part as he blocks it. Grabbed along the board by Kulie. New York’s got the puck along the boards. Oh, what a nice play to free up the puck there. He got thunder struck. But in the game when you’re trying to call your way back in, James, you need a spark. In order to do it, you have to create turnovers. You have to have the ability to jump on a counter punch. A critical draw here. Minnesota’s got the puck inside the offensive zone. Stricken’s got the puck and he’s going to hang on for a whistle. Well, there’s only one reason that this game is tight, James. It’s the guy between the crease. He elects to hold on to that one. He has been dynamite in the final moments of this period. New York’s got a one-goal lead here. They’re up 4-3. Dishes it off. He scores. Well, talk about a friendly ping right there. Oh, yeah. Yeah, it’s all about the balances, isn’t it, James? And you got to get the right one. And that one is in his favor. I don’t think there’s a single goalender in the league that’s going to catch up to that shot, James.
