Kansas City Chiefs ‘got it going’ after obliterating Raiders | Pro Football Talk | NFL on NBC

Uh, the Chiefs and the Raiders. The Chiefs beat the Raiders all the time. Patrick Mahomes record against division rivals was obscene entering the game, 35 and six. The Raiders lately, they had lost seven in a row in the division. This all added up to a splattering. It was still far worse than anyone would have imagined. 31 nothing was the final score. The stats across the board were beyond embarrassing for the Raiders. three first downs and 95 yards of offense. I can’t recall a gap like that. 434 by the Chiefs and 95 by the Raiders. 42 minutes of possession. 30 first downs to three. I don’t feel like I’ve ever seen that. And Mahomes didn’t play the fourth quarter that that it was the biggest ass whooping, sorry, Manchester. All right. Of the year in the NFL, like you said, it was they they they raised the white flag or threw in the white towel. whatever the hell you want to call it. I mean, they took their foot off the gas pedal late in the third quarter, like you’re saying. I mean, it was incredible. The Chiefs have got it going. All right. The the the AFC effed around and now they found out and here’s the Chiefs. I think last weekend between beating the Lions and then watching the Bills lose, it’s like, okay, they had your chance. You got a spot here. Here we go. They do. And and of course we got some new new teams on the block a little bit, but I the the big thing to me with the Kansas City Chiefs is they’ve become elite at the quick passing game the last three to four weeks. They they become elite at it. Mahomes is getting the ball out of his hands quicker than anybody in the sport. And because of that and what it’s doing, teams are like, “Oh man, we can’t let him throw for six here and eight here and nine here and 10 here.” And then of course what happens is you play a little more aggressive on defense and then some big plays kind of turn up for you. Okay, they’re playing aggressive. Let’s maybe throw the ball down the field now. They’re trying to take away the short passing game. So incredible that way. And I mean, wow. They they just looked like they were like, “Hey, we got Rasheed Rice back. Watch out. You’re screwed today cuz we got everything we want in our offense available.” And this is what they’ve been telling everybody behind the scenes to start the year that watch out for us. Our offense is going to be different than what you saw the last two years where we were a little bit more of a defensive football team. They came into this year, I think, expecting their offense to be explosive. They had to weather the storm with some injuries. And we’re seeing it start to take off. Mike, the first time Rasheed Rice played since week four of last year when he suffered the knee injury after a turnover and a friendly fire collision with Patrick Mahomes. Rasheed Rice really came on late in his rookie year. And I talked to someone after the whole street racing thing happened, and we’re not going to forget that it occurred. People like, “Oh, oh, make an excuse.” No, he’s back now. He’s served his suspension. He has his guilty plea. Yeah. He’s in the process of paying his debt to society because he’s on probation for 5 years, and he’s got to serve 30 days in jail at some point over the next 5 years. But but they love this kid as a rookie. He picked up the offense faster than Tyreek Hill did. Tyreek Hill his first season was basically a special teams guy, right? They love what he can do. And for the first time ever, they had Rice, Hollywood Brown, and Xavier Worthy in the lineup together in the regular season. So, you see the lift that it gave, the two touchdowns scored by Rashi Rice, the absolute obliteration. Remember, it was Christmas Day two years ago that the Raiders went in there and beat the Chiefs. Now, that seemed to be the springboard for everything that came after that. But I I think that where the Chiefs are right now, and it’s a long way to go. It’s a long season. It’s only in the middle of October. I know, but when you look at what they have coming up, they’ve got the Commanders next Monday night, right? Commanders, they’re a beat up team. Then they’ve got the Bills week nine and then they have their buy. And man, they’re they’re at the Broncos week 11. They got the Colts week 12. And then boom, it’ll be Thanksgiving. Think about that Chiefs Cowboys Thanksgiving game. I said the day that that schedule was announced and we found out it was going to be that game in that spot. That’s going to be the most watched regular season game of all time. I think it might be. And the fact because the Cowboys are fun to watch. The fact that the Cowboys are fun to watch and they’re hard to beat at home and the Chiefs are the Chiefs. That is going to be a tremendous number. I think bigger than what I would have even thought going into the season. And it’s all that’s it’s all pointing that way. And yeah, we we we started throwing dirt on the Chiefs and because here’s the thing, as we get towards single elimination football, they’re the one team that has the institutional experience that they’re not going to freak out and they’re clearly going to be in the playoffs. There was a a point early in the season where it’s like they may not make the playoffs. They’re going to make the playoffs and they’re going to be a force to be reckoned with. Hi, it’s Mike Florio. 1. not only did mahomes not play the entire 4th quarter but the backup didn’t even attempt a pass the entire 4th quarter. They just ran it head first into the line every time

  2. As a Pats fan I want the chiefs. I DO NOT FEAR THEM WHAT SO EVER. Remember we are 1-0 vs the Mahomes Era Chiefs in the playoffs. Mike Vrabel and Josh McDaniels combined have 9 Super Bowls wins. Our coaching staff with have the patriots ready for the chiefs

  3. They have to start Kenny Pickett. I saw a play where Geno probably could have ran and fought for a first down. Instead he makes himself fall in order for the tackler to not hit him….the chiefs players were like ?????

  4. Love the Chiefs….but c'mon it was the Raiders! Let's see them pull off a win like this vs. the Colts, the Packers, or heaven help us the Bills before we start chanting "MVP"

  5. The last two seasons, the Chiefs were stuck having to be one-dimensional, and they still went to the Superbowl each time. Now they can kill you any way they want, and a high-powered offense just makes the defense better.

  6. Sims is such a waste. He was the one throwing dirt all over the Chiefs and Mahomes for 6 straight weeks. Even when they win he says its due to weakness on the other team. Just now he said the Commanders are 'beat up' as a precursor for dismissing that game if the Chiefs win. Other than a successful father, I'm not sure what his qualifications are anyway. He annoys the spit out of me.

  7. As soon as Mad Maxx went out it was a wrap. People simply want KC dead and out and well, you simply don't get things just because you want them. Watch out NFL.

  8. Chiefs didn't even kick a field goal after recovering a fumble inside their 10. They called 4 vanilla run plays and gave the ball right back. That had to be so insulting that they didn't even take the 3 points when Butker could use the reps.

  9. No, Florio, "Tommy" is not on his phone to the coaches all the time. Can't get through a good segment without making stuff up.

I find it hard to believe that Brady didn't know what he was buying.

  10. Keep in mind that this is the team the Chiefs meant to field last season, and they went 15-2 with almost all of them on IR. The NFL narrowly avoided a perfect season threepeat, but y’all are dreaming if you think Mahomes has given up on the idea of a threepeat. He is now literally in the prime of his career. Gonna be a tough ‘20s for the Haters.

  11. Both you guys slander the chiefs every week it makes me sick I can’t wait for the chiefs to win the Super Bowl I’ll be the first here to rub it in both your faces

  12. The scariest part as a chiefs fan is chris simms talking about the chiefs turning the corner, cause hes usually very wrong. its comical how bad his takes have been on the chiefs.

  13. u started throwing dirt on my beloved Chiefs cuz u looked at the box score and headlines. Chiefs and the FANS knew everything would sort itself out. The only concern for the Chief is PROLONGED HEALTH AND DEPTH

  14. Beena Chiefs fan for 60+ years. What I've learned that seems to motivate them is different than other teams. The media and other teams disrespected them and when you're great for 7 straight years sometimes your edge gets dull. All they needed was that disrespect to sharpen them up. The NFL woke a sleeping giant. They're going to be very difficult for other teams moving forward. They control the ball, aren't turning the ball over, they have long time consuming drives and their opponents aren't getting many possessions and that keeps the defense fresh.
