I know that it was situational at best, but the execution went pretty well which caught the opponent off guard. That doesn’t make games easier, but given the hint of something like 12-personnel, I find the openness and adaptability encouraging and commendable from McVay, who has something up his sleeve!

  1. It makes sense, at least conceptually, that our movement dependent 11 personnel scheme is less effective in the red zone. We’ve been abysmal in the red area seemingly for years now, can’t hurt to mix things up a bit

  2. It shouldn’t be a suprise Ferg started getting targeted after Higbee’s two big drops. Higbee is still a good TE, but he’s past his prime.

  3. 13 personnel should help us in our short yardage situations. There should be a million ways to convert out of it. I hope we see a lot more of it.

  4. This is what I’ve been waiting for! Confirmation that it isn’t just because Puka was out but this (multiple TE sets) has been something McVay has wanted to use but never really had the personnel for it, until now

This could be the start of something special for the offense

  5. People have always got hung up on the 11 personnel, but partly that’s because we use our WRs to do TE things, going back to Kupp and Woods. Puka absolutely pulls double duty.

I’m excited though that we can take some wear and tear off of Puka and sub in the big guys to do work.
