    Instead of looking back at the atrocity on Sunday, let’s look forward.

    Watched 6 Fernando Mendoza Cal games. Wanted to showcase how impressive he was last year, not just at Indiana.

    Please remember this isn’t the finished product, it’s where Mendoza was at the start of ‘25

  2. I am very high on this kid. He needs an offensive line as he’s not a mobile QB but we have one we have been pouring 1RD picks into.

  4. He’ll be a solid starting QB, somewhere. He is however very unlikely to be wearing a Jets uniform. You know in your gut, the Jets will win just enough games. Or, unlikely as it may sound, the Jets will trade their pick away.

  5. Idk…I had just watched his highlights vs. Michigan State. He looks fine, has a nice touch and good ball placement…but nothing that wows me personally or to warrant the top pick.

    In my opinion, he does not look close to being ready to get thrown into an NFL game.
    Not that he should – but we all know we need a QB right NOW, and that poor soul will get thrown to the wolves.

  13. I will be distraught if we lose out to Miami and he gets to go ball out for his childhood team in Florida.

  15. I think the only thing I don’t like about Mendoza is his deep ball seems to sail for some reason. I don’t know if he just doesn’t put enough torque on it or he doesn’t fire his hips quick enough on some throws, but you know he’s got a pretty strong arm to make all the throws, but for some reason, he under throws a lot. Some of his throws don’t have like this rocket torque ala Allen. A lot of passes have really nice spirals but they don’t have that extra velocity sometimes. That’s not really so much of a knock, it might be something that he could definitely clean up with like better footwork or better use of his lower body. He can definitely get a little bit more on some of these throws, but his ball placement is pretty fucking great.

    One thing that I really love is the fact that he trust his arm and his receiver to split defenders. He recognizes when a corner has his back towards him, and he trust his arm enough to make a throw towards the sideline or down the middle of the field.. those types of fearless throws separate good quarterbacks from great quarterbacks.

    One other positive, if you look at his old tape from Cal, he has that Sam Darnold elongated throwing motion. It would appear that he’s cleaned up that motion. He doesn’t have that giant wind up anymore and the ball is closer to his head which allows him to get the ball out quicker.

  16. Can’t wait to ruin his career. Release him. Go to a component franchise. Resurrect his career by playing with good players and a good team. Be a top 10 QB in the league, with people stating he’s semi hall of fame QB stats while still playing. Then reminisce about how good our team would have been if we didn’t release him and built a good team around him.
