How ex-Knicks head coach (Tom Thibodeau) helped Celtics in ‘awesome’ preseason visit

  1. Seems a perfect opportunity for a and b team coaches…Ie a series of practices for 5×5 where they pick coaches and go 1st and 2nd teams go against each other in practice. Happens a bit in the NFL, don’t know I’ve heard of a similar practice in the NBA.
Scheduling would be a lot tougher, but you have preseason, the break for the nba cup and all star game.

  2. Thibodeau must envy Mazzulla so much, he upset the Celtics, made it to G6 of ECF then gets canned, yet Celtics fans want to act like the Knicks series never happened or blame it on the Tatum injury, and Mazzulla goes blame free, despite refusing to make in game adjustments….. 2 of the last 3 seasons the Celtics have lost playoff series to teams they should have beaten.

  3. Thibs is such a basketball guy. We’re so lucky to have a team that’s well-respected enough for Thibs to drop by in this scenario AND to have stars like JB that want to hear about their weaknesses so they can get better. Let’s fucking go. Fun article Boston Herald

  4. Would be an amazing assistant coach if he’s in limbo for HC opportunities.

Still one of the best defensive minds in the league and arguably the architect for modern 3P defences.

  5. Thibs did this for Brad as well — IIRC, this was in the in-between time between his Chicago and Minny jobs. He’s a basketball lifer and generous with his knowledge — it just depends on teams being willing to ask for it.

Thibs, to me, will always be a Celtic (coach) because he was the lead assistant on the 2008 team and was in that role all the way to the 2010 Finals run.

  6. Would someone be able to give a little summary of the article?

I don’t live in Boston so not paying to get thru that paywall
