Chicago Bears Now: Live News & Rumors + Q&A w/ Harrison Graham (Oct. 20)

[Music] Hey, [Music] hey, hey. Heat. Heat. N. [Music] [Music] [Music] Ah, yes. We are live for yet another victory Monday here on Chicago Bears Now. Feels good, doesn’t it? Four wins in a row. I know it feels good to me. Welcome to Chicago Bears Now. My name is Harrison Graham. Producer Cullen with us as always. We got plenty to discuss on this victory Monday. We got some injury updates for the Bears and the Ravens as well. The next opponent on the schedule, some NFL trade buzz I want to dive into and then of course we will take your questions uh as always. So appreciate everybody for being here as uh we’ll let the chat kind of build up here and then we’ll get into the content. Uh, shout out to Laora, Bears fan for life, Rebecca Mccclure. Uh, we got Daryl, Andrew, Antoine, Christian, Super Adam, Jose, Tm Smooth, Chicago Heights, Austin, Munchin, Kittis hanging out. We got Martin in the chat, Caleb Caldwell, Lifted Trucks, McKenna. We got Caesar, Frank. Shout out to the real ones, man. Feels good to cover a team that’s playing some good ball right now, Colin. It’s fun. Listen, hey, the Bears are playing, you know, dare I say, complimentary football. You know, they’re uh rushing the ball really well. Defense is getting after the uh quarterback. And uh listen, four game win streak for the first time since 2018, I believe. Yeah, it’s fun fun. It’s fun to win. It’s fun to win. It’s even more fun to win when there’s still room to grow, which I think uh is definitely evident with this team. So, uh, it’s definitely exciting. Yeah, number one in takeaways, and that’s with a by-week already in there. I mean, this this this defense is on a heater when it comes to taking the football away. It’s not a perfect defense by any means. They do give up some yards, some points, but I mean, four games, 15 takeaways, that’s that’s a hell of a stretch right now. So, uh, I expect that to slow down at some point, but, uh, right now, uh, they’re riding the turnover wave there. There’s no question about that. So, we’ll see if it continues. Rebecca shouting you out, Colin, saying go Seattle tonight only, Colin. Appreciate that, Rebecca. Appreciate that. Big uh Seattle sports night, man. Huge. Uh obviously the Mariners chance to go to their first World Series. I didn’t realize this. First game seven Mariners history. That’s pretty remarkable when you think about it. And then um obviously Seahawks if they win uh to keep pace in the NFC West, which uh those top three teams right now, 49ers, Rams, and Seahawks uh all with two losses. is the Rams and 49ers both getting wins yesterday. So, uh big game for the Seahawks to keep pace uh tonight. So, Yep. No, I mean it’s a it’s a huge night for Seattle sports. Again, we’re going to keep this mostly Bears late on the show, but uh your boy sweating. We’re rooting for Cullen tonight. We’re showing we’re showing love. Let’s uh I I genuinely am rooting hard for the Mariners tonight. I I I think it would be a great story if they got to their first World Series in its own right. Toronto making it cool is a good story, but you’re my guy. So, we’re going with the Mariners. And, uh, I do like be the last Major League Baseball team to make it to the World Series that hasn’t, you know, made it yet. So, really, yeah, they’re the only one that’s never made the World Series out of all the MLB teams. So, I like the Mariners even more after you said that. Come on, let’s get this done. Get it done. Every time I keep asking vibe check from Coen, he just says, “Just get it done. Just get it done. Just get it done. Just get it done.” Last week, the mantra for the Bears was focus. for the Mariners today is ju just just get it done. Just find a way that no one asks how. They just ask uh who. And so we’re gonna find out if they’re gonna be the who tonight. All right. Super chat from Bears fan for life. Going to have to draft a doctor next year first round. Well, sounds like the Bears have gotten some good injury news today. Ben Johnson says they’ll know more Wednesday, but uh the Bears initial belief and diagnosis with Tyreek Stevenson and Cole KT is that they’re going to be in that dayto-day realm, not week to week. So, you would think, Cole, that at least gives them both a chance to play this week, which obviously would be huge, especially for Stevenson because if he’s out, you’re pretty thin at corner. So, if he can find a way to strap up and go this week, I mean, that would be that would be huge. Uh because a he’s been playing really well and b if he’s out, I don’t know who you play as your second outside corner. I guess Nick Mloud, but you may have to bring someone in. So, uh keep an eye on that. And I did a video last week. I had already been told by a source that the Bears were already sniffing around the corner market before Tyreek got banged up yesterday. So, uh, you know, if we get to Wednesday and they think he’s going to miss time, I would not be shocked if they added somebody. So, hopefully he can go because, uh, you know, it’s that domino effect of that corner room if he can’t, uh, I think is a pretty big deal. Yeah, I mean, you know, we’ve we will be talking about, you know, later in the show again some potential quarterback targets, whether it’s in the free agent market or the trade market. One thing I will note, uh, sounds like Seattle might be without a couple of secondary uh, members tonight. So, against the Houston Texans, uh, we’ll see kind of where Reek Woolen stands and if that’s a potential trade target for the Bears and, you know, we kind of broke it down on a previous video. Make sure you go check that out. Uh, look, it just seems like the Bears, Listen, this position again, you have Jaylen Johnson go down. Tyreek Stevenson, you know, he’s considered day-to-day, but even then, that’s kind of like an injury scare. You’d kind of think that the Bears would like to have another corner be brought into that room, especially an like another outside guy that they’d feel confident in. and uh you know whether they decide to you know bring in Stefon Gilmore maybe to see you know work him out see what he looks like or you know invest in the trade market it’ll be very interesting to see I feel like it quarterback’s slowly kind of risen up the rankings in terms of yeah I mean I think it’s elevated ahead of running back based on what we’ve seen out of the by-week I mean it’s uh it’s been a pleasant turnaround from uh the run game offensively so you know I think big picture longterm they’re probably going to want to look to upgrade at that position but Swift and Manungai were fantastic fantastic Sunday. Swift’s had his best twoame stretch uh as a Chicago Bear here. So, I think you feel pretty good uh about where that sits right now. Uh if Tyreek’s healthy again, I I think you’re you’re in a good enough spot. Um I think Nan Wright had a nice little game on Sunday, had an interception. He’s not going to be perfect. He’s going to give up plays, but I think he’s at least been serviceable enough. Now, if you want to bring in depth competition for that spot, a if an injury happens or if B he has some struggles, I’d be okay with that as well. But, uh, Tyreek’s the key. If if he’s truly dayto-day and at most would miss one game, I I don’t think you make a panic move, but, um, you know, maybe that’s a situation where you work out some free agents or something like that. Uh, and at least add someone to the practice squad that you could elevate for game day if you need to. Uh, Noah with the $10 super chat. Appreciate you, Noah. We were hoping for a Lovelin breakout game, but we got a Manungai one instead. Uh, and I’m here for it. He’s solidified himself as RB2. Won’t look back. Four in a row, baby. Bear down. Get the bear downs in for Noah. Yeah. And not only that, Cullen, the split, the snap count yesterday was like 5545. So, you know, I think if you’re in that 6040, 5545, like that’s kind of an ideal combination with him and Swift because they bring different skill sets. And you know, yesterday was the first game this season, Colin, where not only was the run game awesome, but like you got that true thunder and lightning approach with uh Swift, who’s had two good games in a row, getting him on the perimeter primarily. I also think, and I I’d love to know if you agree or disagree. How many runs yesterday did Swift get a do a nice job where the play is designed to maybe go behind the tackle or outside the tackle? I thought he had maybe his best game as a bear from a vision standpoint of just finding that cut back lane. Like I thought there were three or four plays yesterday where, you know, based on the blocking and where the defenders were and where the hole opened up, maybe it was designed to go outside the tackle, but he hit that cut back lane and, you know, found eight or nine yards instead of maybe just three or four. I I thought he he ran really well yesterday. Yeah, I feel like he just he looked more comfortable than he’s been. Um, more decisive. more decisive and he just overall I mean look Swift as we mentioned is a guy that’s more of an elusive back. He’s not going to be a guy that you’re sitting there you know shooting him up the A gap you know 30 times a game or whatever but he’s a guy that wants to you know get to the outside you know get in space and use his elusivity and you know kind of his home run playmaking ability to potentially you know turn runs into three four into you know six seven eight nine 10 plus yard runs. So, look, I I thought it was his best game yesterday. His last two weeks, um, we’ll talk about later in the show, he’s been on fire. I mean, outside of maybe Jonathan Taylor, like you can make the argument DeAndre Swift’s been the second best running back in football last two weeks. So, 233 yards over the last two games. And again, that’s with Kyle Manungi having 13 carries this week and I think he had five last week. So, that’s taken 18 carries. I don’t think the Colts have a second pack that’s eating that many carries, nor should they. Jonathan Taylor’s having a unbelievable year. But, uh, yeah, I’m pretty pleased with, uh, where this, uh, where this running attack is right now. Uh, you know, to kind of circle back to the question, I I don’t think running back is a position you’re targeting at the deadline at this exact moment. Now, if the next two weeks come and go and all of a sudden you’re having run game issues again, okay, maybe it gets revisited or if an injury pops up. But, you know, we were saying out of the by-week call and I think I actually said it on the show, if the if the run game wos continue in Washington, I’m pretty active on the phones the next day and that did not happen. And not only that, they were even better yesterday. So, uh I’m I’m pretty thrilled with the adjustments that the coaching staff made and obviously with how swift Manungai and the offensive line are playing when it comes to run blocking. Uh, okay. Isaiah with the five. Do you miss Vis Jones as much as I do? You know, it keeps me up at night, Isaiah. I just miss him so much. Um, nah, you know, it’s uh Veils is a good dude, but uh it just didn’t work out. That that pick did not work out. Adam uh Downing, did we give Washington the curse? You know, people were talking the Bears uh broke the Raiders completely. You know, they’ve been broken for a while, but uh you know, some some are saying that uh the Bears broke the Raiders. Some are saying the Bears broke the Commanders. Uh, you know, some are saying that the Saints will no longer be a feisty team after, you know, some, not me, some, uh, I I don’t know. I I I think the I think the Commanders have some defensive limitations. And look, I think a lot of people said it this off season with some push back, but the Commanders I thought could have a good year this year, Colin, and maybe even be better, but with a worse record than last year. They had an all-time outlier season in a lot of areas. One-sore record. I think they were only lost one game in one scorecore games. They uh had a historic season on fourth down. I mean, historic. I mean, even if you have the best quarterback in the league, you don’t go 88% or whatever it was. Uh in that regard, uh Jaden in clutch situations basically let a game-winning drive every time. Like those things even out over time. And you add in the fact couple of defensive injuries. Jaden’s not playing quite as well this year. He’s been banged up. ah you’re a three and four team instead of like five and two uh under similar you know similar circumstances. So you know it’s uh this is the eb and the flow of the NFL man. It it’s very that’s why you have to respect these teams like the Chiefs the Eagles to an extent uh that are just good every single year because this league is not set up to be for teams to be good for year in and year out uh to that level. It is very difficult. There’s like five or six of them. It’s the Chiefs, the Eagles, the Ravens. Uh the Bills have become that. I would put the Rams in that. They’ve had random down years here and there, but I think with McVey, they’ve they’ve haven’t had they’ve had proven sustainability. 49ers as well. They had the down year last year, but other than that, I mean, yeah, you might have two good years in a row, but then a bad year. Like the Vikings have kind of been that with KOC. Like this is his fourth year through three seasons. Two really good years, one down year. This year is kind of up in the air. So, um, Detroit’s trying to become kind of that next team to like, can they be good for five, six, seven, eight years? They’re in what, this would be like year four of that. Yeah. Um, so, you know, it’s hard. It is. This league is very difficult, man. No, 100%. And, you know, that’s the whole thing is just that, you know, everyone was looking at the commanders last year and it’s like, you know, how many people whether it was in mailbags or super chats or in watch parties where it’s like Chicago clearly made a mistake. They drafted the wrong guy. And ultimately like we still don’t know that answer today as we’re sitting here today. That part of it could end up being true still by the way 100%. But like people that were saying there and sitting that I mean is anyone arguing that Jaden Daniels has looked better than Drake May and New England so far through this year? No this year Drake May has not only been the best QB from that class. If you’re just taking play from this year Colin he’s a top five quarterback in the NFL. Now to me to anoint a QB top five you have to do it for years and years. That’s why the Jaden talk this year was too much because it’s like guys, it’s been one year we fell into this trap with CJ Strad. You got to do this for multiple years before you’re established as a top five guy. Um but this year alone, Drake Mays played like a top five NFL quarterback. So we’ll see if it continues. But um again, it’s hard just like it’s hard to be one of those sustainable teams, Colin. It is hard to establish yourself as a sustainable top five quarterback. Like it is not easy. It is very difficult. Alex says, “Is Lamar playing next week and is Derrick Henry still suffering from acute fumbulitis?” Uh, that’d be nice if he is. Uh, Bears are getting some takeaways. So, uh, hopefully. Uh, TBD on Lamar. We’ll have an update here in a second. He did not practice today. John Harbaugh was kind of non, uh, just kind of dodged the question when asked about Lamar’s status. Before the by-week, he was adamant that he would return. We’ll see. Is he playing um, is he kind of uh, what’s the word? Is he playing koi, if you will? Like, is he trying to just uh keep the Bears off balance? Teams don’t really do that that much in the NFL. Uh so, uh yeah, I would guess he plays, but uh I would also say I’m guessing that the Ravens aren’t as thrilled with where his hamstring injury recovery is to where they thought it would be coming out of the buy. So, Wednesday will be telling. Uh okay, Jay with a 10. Come on, baby. Four game win streak. If we can uh clean up these penalties and get better in the red zone, we have a real chance to go three and two, maybe 5-0 in this next stretch. Yeah, I mean, penalties have been an issue all year. The red zone was actually fantastic the first three weeks of the season and the last three not so much. A lot of field goals recently, so got to get better in the red zone. But, um, yeah, I mean, you know, five and0 like that would be a nineame winning streak. I mean, that’s I I get you got winnable games here. I I’ll be real. I’d be pretty happy with the split the next two weeks. Baltimore is going to empty the tank here. You’re in Baltimore. Uh they they are they are all in on this game because if they lose it, their season’s pretty much over at 1 and six. And the Bengals looked more than functional the other night, Colin with Joe Flacco. I mean, I don’t know how he’s going to play on a week- toeek basis, but I know it’s better than Jake Browning. So, um you know, if Hendrickson’s healthy and Flacco’s playing closer to that than what Jake Browning was producing, road game in the NFL is always going to be difficult. that’s, you know, you might be an underdog in that game, too. So, you know, if you told me you split these next two games, get to five and three, uh, with the Giants coming to town. Um, yeah, I think I’d be pretty happy with that. Yeah. I mean, ultimately, like nothing’s a given in the NFL, but I mean, you got to take advantage of a schedule, at least on paper, that uh, to your point, Jay, I mean, I think, uh, the Bears really do have a good chance to go not only go above 500, but dare I say, 4-1, 5-0. I mean, look, the Ravens, we’ll see kind of, you know, where Lamar status is along with the rest of their players. Felt like everybody and their mother there in Baltimore was kind of dealing with something uh leading into last week’s bye-week for the Ravens. And look, it it’s the NFL. One thing I will say is if you have the amount of penalties that you had against the Saints, you’ve had all season, you will get your butts kicked because Baltimore’s too good of a team, too well disciplined of a team to kind of give that many chances to and to put your offense in less than precarious situations. I just that’s kind of like an underlying storyline like yes, the Bears won. They won by two scores. We’re all happy that they’re, you know, on a four-game win streak. Still a lot of self-inflict. A lot of self-inflict. I think it was what 10 penalties yesterday. and penalties. Um, just weird stuff where like the snap exchange, I mean, Ben said today, uh, let me get the exact quote here cuz I tweeted it out. Ben said regarding the Dolman Caleb thing, he said it’s not a oneperson issue, so it’s it’s it’s everyone. He said, quote, “We’re on a united mission this week,” close quote, to get that fixed. Uh, so, uh, I will say this, the pre- snap stuff has been much better on the road. And I think it’s cuz on the road you’re in silent count, so you’re you’re not hard counting as much. You’re not trying to to to to, you know, do cadence stuff to draw the opponent off sides nearly as frequently. Um, so, you know, maybe I I do think at times Caleb is more comfortable when there’s just less thinking involved. It’s just like, hey, I’m just gonna go play free. like I I I think he’s more comfortable in that spot. So, obviously when you’re at home, you got the the crowd noise isn’t as much of an angle. You’re trying to uh to draw people off sides, get defenders off balance, pre- snap and all that stuff. And I think that’s been hit and miss uh so far this year. So, uh we’ll see. Uh I I trust Ben when he says that they are going to hammer that home this week. I uh I think that’s pretty obvious. Uh Sam Lera says, “All of these quote historic elite clutch getting thrown around and not one mention of Josh Dobs. If you don’t know Ball, just say it. Hand up. Listen. When I think of elite, when I think historic, when I think clutch, I think uh Mr. Astrophysicist himself, Joshua Dos, Tennessee’s finest. Where is he at these days? I actually he played the other Oh, he’s Drake May’s backup. He had to play a couple snaps because May uh was in the Maybe that’s You know what? That’s Caleb needs to be his secret sauce. Just get Josh Hobs as his back in the mix. Doss can, you know, love wisdom above Caleb and that’s that’s what’s going to turn around. Not Ben Johnson, not the weapons, not the offensive line. Joshua Doss, I think you’re on to something there. I think you’re on to something. How do we not think of that? Yeah, I I don’t know. I don’t know. Uh Joshua, are you concerned that the offense has only capitalized on only 30% of the possible points they can get from takeaways? I don’t know what league average is on that, and I I’ll take your word for that. 30% possible. So like I mean obviously maxing out would be touchdowns on every takeaway. I mean that’s obviously not going to happen but yeah I I I think they left points out there because some of these takeaways you’re you’re starting in positive territory. So at minimum on those you need three. And I think for the most part you’re you are getting at least field goals. So that that’s a positive. But you got to turn more of those into touchdowns. Listen, I’m thrilled that Jake Moody uh is confident right now and is eight for nine on field goals. I’m not thrilled that he’s had to try nine field goals in two games. Um, ideally you cut that in half. Uh, so, um, yeah, I like the guy said earlier, the red zone woes the last few weeks, first three games were excellent. They were top 10 in red zone TD rate and, uh, I think now they’re like 20th, 21st or something. So, that would mean I would assume you’re bottom six or seven the last three weeks in red zone. So, um, gota got to get better there. Got to get better. So, all right, hit that like button. We got almost 600 people watching live. We’ll continue to answer your questions uh here on the program. But if you want to get more Bears fans in here, like the video. We got a lot to jump into here. The latest news, injury updates on the Bears, but also Lamar Jackson uh and the Ravens as that is the next opponent on the schedule. Sitch lover, we’ll get to you after this first segment. Uh by the way, uh we’ll take your questions #bears or super chat to get your questions answered on the show. Uh we will do that in our second segment. And then uh some more trade rumors. Diana Rsini dropped some nuggets that uh I want to hit on and discuss whether or not the Bears could get involved uh and any players that she mentioned that could be available. So, we will dive into all of that and more here on a victory Monday. Hit that subscribe button and let’s go. [Music] Happy Victory Monday, Bears fans. We got a Lamar Jackson injury update as the Ravens are the next team on the schedule. Most assumed he’d be back and he still might, but didn’t practice today. More on him in just a moment. We got some Bears injury news. I think some good news uh when it comes to a couple of key players that left yesterday’s game against the Saints. And are the Bears getting disrespected despite a four-game winning streak? We’ll dive into all this. My name is Harrison Graham. Start with Lamar, who John Harbaugh declared before the by-week that he and Roan Smith would be back for this Bears game. Looks like Rocoan is going to be. More on him in a second. But, uh, the Ravens, who returned to the practice facility today after the by-week, did not have their quarterback on the practice field. He was one of two players who did not practice. Uh, Jeff Zerbeic, who’s been covering the Ravens for a long time, uh, tweeted out that, uh, Lamar is still not practicing as he’s dealing with that hamstring injury. last time when he got injured, by the way, that was 22 days ago. Uh, and then Tavius Robinson, who has a broken bone in his foot, is not going to play, uh, was not out there either. Jameson Hinsley added this uh, after practice when John Harbaugh talked to the media. He declined to say whether Lamar Jackson will practice this week, saying he didn’t want to comment on individual players, and he was asked if he is expected uh, for Lamar to play Sunday. He said, quote, same answer. So, is John Harbaugh, you know, playing that whole I’m not going to give anything away game, or is he unsure? Because it’s weird to go into the by-week saying, “Yeah, Lamar’s going to be back. We’re going to get some key guys back.” And then you get back, talk to the media for the first time for the new gameweek. And yeah, I’m not going to answer that question. That it’s a little bit odd to me. Uh so, Wednesday will be pretty telling because that’s when the first injury report drops. We’ll obviously see if Lamar does anything at practice. My gut tells me he will play. Uh but uh my gut also tells me that the Ravens kind of just assumed on the by-week the hamstring would be fully healed and maybe it’s not. Uh and maybe that’s why Harbaugh is a little reluctant uh to give more to the media again. I think we’ll know more on Wednesday obviously. And listen, this would be a huge development because Cooper Rush has been horrific in the two games he’s had to start uh as Lamar’s backup. Tyler Huntley, who always finds his way back on the Ravens, he’s on their practice squad. He’s been elevated the last couple of games and uh they went to him late in that Rams game and he was a little more effective. So, I wouldn’t be shocked if he started if for some reason Lamar can’t play. Uh but either way, even if it’s Huntley who seems to play decent with Baltimore, monumental drop off. I mean, it is just not the same uh at all. You’re talking about an MVP caliber player versus a bad backup right now in Cooper Rush or a guy who’s bounced around practice squads recently in Tyler Huntley. I know Tyler Huntley beat the Bears what, four years ago in that awful 16-13 game. Uh don’t need to revisit that, but uh Tyler Huntley was also playing much better football those days uh than he has than he has in recent years. Uh other injury news for the Ravens. Uh all these players were back at practice and are tracking towards playing this week. Rocoan Smith who missed a couple of games there. More on him in a second. Uh Cheeto Bay Auzi. Uh Devontes Walker, Ronnie Stanley, that’s big, the left tackle obviously, and then Patrick Ricard uh the fullback who they obviously use on a lot of those ISO runs with Derrick Henry uh as a lead blocker. Uh we are getting the Roan revenge game. He is motivated to play this game. He was asked today if he’s playing. He said yes. Uh I think uh I don’t know if a torn ACL would would keep him off the field this week. This is his first game back uh against the Bears after Ryan Poles traded him amid contract disputes in his first year as the GM. And that was controversial at the time. It hasn’t aged that well as Rocoan has been very good for the Ravens. Now I will say right here right now the Bears are actually getting terrific linebacker play. But I would say for the last couple of years, while TJ Edwards has obviously been pretty good, Tmaine Edmonds has clearly been overpaid, uh, we’ve always wondered, should they have just kept Roan? Like, would that have would that have made more sense overall? And I’ll just ask you guys, do you miss Rocoan Smith? Type Y for type in for no. I do, but I also understood to an extent the logic at the time. I mean, I still would have paid him. uh you’re talking about to me other than Fred Warner, he’s been the best offball linebacker over the last five or six years from a consistency standpoint in the NFL. But I will say at this exact moment, TJ and Tmaine are playing really well together. So that’ll be an interesting dynamic on Sunday uh with Rocoin uh going up against the Bears for the first time since the trade. Uh okay guys, Brunt, the best working boots in the game come from Bunt Brunt. They’re the best I’ve ever used. Believe me on that. Choosing work boots used to mean sacrificing comfort or durability. If they felt good, they didn’t last. And if they lasted, they wrecked your feet. I’ve tried a bunch of them over the years. Brunt thought that was BS. So, they built tough boots that feel great from day one. As a homeowner, there’s always projects around the house to work on, and Brunt’s boots are no doubt the most comfortable work boots I’ve ever worn. And they felt comfortable right out of the box, which I appreciate. Normal shoes don’t always feel comfortable out of the box, but Brunt’s boots do. Uh, but they’re not just comfortable. They’re built to perform. Whether you need waterproof, safety toe, soft toe, pull on, or lace up, they’ve got options that can handle whatever job site you’re walking into. Uh, before I found Bron, I can’t tell you how many different working boots I tried and went through. I always was left with either foot pain, blisters, or even if they were comfortable, they just didn’t last very long. They weren’t waterproof, whatever the case was. Uh, just didn’t last as long as I needed them to. And right now, for a limited time only, we have an awesome deal for you guys. You can get $10 off at Brunt when you use our code chat at checkout. Go to bruntworkware.com. Use code chat. You’re good to go. Brunt was tired of the workware brands out there cutting corners. You work way too hard to be stuck in uncomfortable boots that don’t hold up. So, they built something better. Boots that are insanely comfortable and built for any job site. For a limited time, our listeners, like I said, get $10 off with Brunt with code chat. Ch. Go to bruntwork.com. Use code chat. You’re good to go. after you order, tell them we sent you Bears now by Chat Sports, and we would greatly appreciate that. Code and link to Brunt are in the comments and description of this video. Okay, let’s get to some Bears injury updates here. We’ve been waiting all day. What’s going on with Tyreek Stevenson? What’s going on with Cole KT? Uh, two key starters that left uh the Bears Saints game with various injuries. For Tyreek, it’s a shoulder and for Cole KT, it’s a back injury. Ben Johnson said today that the early belief is that both these guys are in the day-to-day realm, not the week-toeek realm, which means both should have a chance to play on Sunday. He also said we’ll know more Wednesday, so there might be some more testing that has to take place, but uh I would say on the surface really good news because if they if it was long-term, I think they would have a better idea about it. This would be a huge break if neither of these guys miss time. Even if it’s like a game for one or both these guys, that’s still uh a huge break, especially for Tyreek Stevenson, man. Like you’re thin at corner. This guy has stepped up in a major way. Uh with Jaylen Johnson going down, he’s played at times like a true CB1 and for sure uh like a quality starter this year, especially since week two. So proud of him for that. And the Bears need him out there. Uh obviously uh for Cole KT not a ton of production from a receiving tight end standpoint but he and Coloulston Lovelin while they would love to get more action in the passing game uh they’ve both been blocking their ass off. So obviously you want KT out there too. I said it earlier today if he’s able to go he’s going to go. He’s never missed a game in his career. He’s tough as hell. So um you know unless there was a fracture in the back I would have expected him to play. So, if he truly is in that day-to-day realm, may not practice much, but I guess I’m guessing he suits up on Sunday. Uh, some other injuries to watch. Obviously, Grady Jarrett sounds like he could have gone this week, but with the wet conditions at Soldier Field, they opted to hold him out being an older player. Uh, probably a good decision. Uh, should be back this upcoming Sunday. Obviously, Cairo Santos, what’s going on with this kicker situation through one game? I thought it was a bit early to declare a potential kicker controversy. I don’t know if we’re there yet, but I’ll say what I said last week. If Cairo is not 100% with him having a weak leg and a right thigh injury, I’m not kicking him. So, I would expect Jake Moody for another week if that’s the case. They have one more practice squad elevation they can use for him and then, you know, maybe make a decision after that. Uh Austin Booker, Aan Ogbog, Bamiga still on short-term IR. Both their practice windows have been open for Booker. They got to make a decision this week. If they don’t activate him, he is out for the season. uh because you have 21 days and it was open two weeks ago. So, it’s now or never for the Bears with Booker. Uh Ben was asked, you know, was there a setback and he said, “No, uh we felt comfortable with the rotation uh that we were heading into these last two game days with.” But he then also added today, quote, “I think he’s going to be able to help us.” So, barring something unforeseen, I think they’re going to activate him. Uh I think part of that might just be Dominique Robinson’s kind of turned a corner as a player. Like, he’s he’s actually done some nice things. So, uh, I still would activate him. This pass rush is not productive enough to just call it a season for Austin Booker. I don’t know what he’ll give them, but I think you got to get him onto the 53 and find out. Agog Migga, I don’t think it’s as urgent. Uh, other than Noah Su, you’re pretty healthy at linebacker. I thought special teams were much better this week and that’s his primary role. So, uh, I don’t think that one is quite as urgent. Uh, I mean, Hippoly’s been a healthy scratch the last two weeks. So, I don’t think Aean O is like a must activate, but when they open his practice window, you figure that’s going to happen at some point. And I would guess either Carl Jones uh or DeMarco Jackson uh to be um the player that would get cut in that instance. Okay, enough injury stuff. Are the Bears getting disrespected? Look, I fully expected Chicago to be an underdog this week. Bears Ravens are coming off a by-week. Vegas still really likes them. I mean, they’re not even like they still could win the AFC North. A based on that division and Vegas still thinks it’s pretty close between them and Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh losing that game to Cincinnati on Thursday night last week. Kind of reopen the door for Baltimore despite being one and five. Uh Lamar is expected to come back. Um we’ll see if that ends up being the case. Obviously, so I understand the Bears being a dog. It’s not like the Bears are some established proven contender or something like that. 6 and a half is a little rich though. I mean, the Ravens have key guys that are not returning like Justin Matab Nomi Matabke, for example. Um, you know, so I don’t think this is like some obvious like the Bears have no shot spot. I mean, almost a touchdown in the NFL that that’s a large number. So, I already thought for you, you know, gamble responsibly obviously plus six and a half. I think that’s good value with Lamar. If Lamar doesn’t play, I mean, it’s almost worth an earlier uh week sprinkle just in case he doesn’t play. a little moneyline play because uh if he’s out then I I mean to me that’s like a pickum if not a slight favor for the Bears based on how Cooper Rush has played and even Tyler Huntley. So um look I get it. I expected to be a dog. I thought they’d be like three and a half four-point dog to open up. Six and a half though like I get the Bears aren’t playing perfect football but they’ve won four games in a row. It’s the longest win streak in the NFC and the Ravens are one and five. Regardless of how that is the case, a touchdown is a lot. So, we’ll see if that changes throughout the week. This is an empty the tank game for Baltimore. They have to win it to keep their season alive. I get all of the angles. I just think a touchdown’s a little high. Uh, but Vegas has not loved uh the Bears so far this year. So, betting on the Bears recently has been a good play. That line last week against New Orleans came down to three and a half. They won by 12. They were a healthy underdog against Washington. Beat them outright. So, um, you know, maybe the Bears just embrace this underdog mentality going to Baltimore and find a way to get a fifth straight win. So, we’ll see what happens. Uh, I think this is a tough spot for the Bears if Lamar plays. Ravens coming off the buy, like I mentioned, empty the tank spot for them, but hey, Bears are vibing right now. Uh, I’d be crazy to say they don’t have a chance. And when Vegas gives a team a touchdown head start, that’s usually an indicator that they don’t think the Bears have much of an opportunity here. All right, predict the score. Bears, Ravens, who wins, what is the final score going to be? I won’t have my first prediction until we do our preview episode, so you’ll have to wait for mine. Uh, but you guys let me know who wins and what is the score going to be. All right, plenty of news there. Uh, good to see the Tyreek Stevenson Cole Commat early updates. Again, we’ll know more on Wednesday, but uh, I think that’s trending in the right direction, so that’s positive news. Uh, we’ll continue to monitor that situation and bring you content on a daily basis. So, subscribe and bear down. All right, Buff Mack. Do you think uh Glenn goes one and done for the Jets? Probably not because that is still pretty rare. I guess the one case I mean if they went 0 and 17, you might not have a choice, right? Like it’s one of those where like just if they even win two games and they look really bad, are you necessarily Look, I personally would consider it if this continues, but like is Woody Johnson going to admit that error, you know, right? He seems like one of those stubborn owner types. So, it’s true. I I don’t know. I will say this, Colin. If they get the number one pick and they’re thinking about drafting a quarterback, you cannot fall into that trap. If you come to a decision shortly after the season that there’s a very good chance you’re drafting a quarterback, sorry, I I I’m not going into a I’m not doing a Brian Callahan. I’m not doing a Matt Eberfloose. I’m not letting a potential lame duck head coach draft a quarterback number one. Fair or not, one season in. I I just It never works out. It never works out. So, um, yeah, I I think there’s a chance Buff Mack, but I would still guess no at this point, but you get to 0 and 10, 0 and 11. It’s been ugly, man. And to think after that week one game, how fun was that Pittsburgh Jets game to watch? That was a great game. Great game. You were thinking, okay, this is going to be like a feisty 67 win team. Nope. Nope. They’re horrible. I know they’ve been in a few games like they came back against Tampa, made that close. Uh they hung with Denver with their defense, but I mean it’s been a mess. TJ, what a night. Football calling go Mariners. I thank you TJ. I actually like the Bucks tonight. I’m not saying that just because I want Detroit to lose for NFC North purposes, but with how beat up that secondary is, Colin, neither of their safeties. Branch is suspended. Joseph’s out. Terry Arnold’s out. Is DJ Reid playing? I’m not sure. They just they just sent the Inactives out. Uh Ibuka is playing for the Bucks along with Mike Evans. Yeah. So they got their top two receivers. I mean to me regardless of Godwin, I elevated. He’s he’s he’s top two if not their number one. Um yeah. Uh no Godwin, no Castro, no Bucky Irving. That’s all to be expected for the Lions. Oh, DJ Reed’s on. He’s on IR. Okay. I think. All right, there. Let’s see. I’m looking at the injury report now. Um, Sitch, we’re gonna put you in the mailbag, brother. Oh, yeah. Sorry, I forgot to mention that. Yeah, DJ Reed’s on IR. So, Sitch Lover, uh, Alex, Todd, we got Tricky, and we’re getting to all you guys in the mailbag. Don’t worry. Bas, I just want to make sure Sitch just said, “Hey, don’t forget I didn’t forget. We’re putting you all in the mailbag.” We got you guys. Yeah. I mean, I don’t know. I mean, I think that’s a tough matchup. It’s probably going to be a shootout. Um, kind of like Tampa. Is that game in Detroit or in Tampa? Uh, that game tonight’s in Detroit, I would imagine. I think Yeah, it’s in Detroit. Yeah. Six and a half point favorite. I mean, yeah. No Arnold, no Joseph, no Monte Maddox, no Brian Branch, no DJ Reed. Like maybe it’s wishful thinking, but like I mean six and a half. I just mentioned Bears worth an early week. I might sprinkle on the Bucks tonight. Touchdown dog with those many injuries. I know Tampa’s banged up in some spots, but Evans and Ibuka playing. Yep. I kind of like that for Tampa. Uh so I’m going to go Tampa and then I’m going to go Seattle. I’m not just saying that because you’re my guy. Texans in Seattle. I I like the Seahawks in that spot. Yeah. I mean, Seahawks are going into the buy after this game. Uh, I feel like they they might empty the tank now. Again, wait to see the uh injury report. Um, could be without Witherspoon and Julian Love again. That would be tough. That would that would be kind of an equalizer. Uh, I’m I’m going for a Seattle sweep tonight, though. Give me the Seahawks. And then for the first game, yeah, I’ll ride with the Bucks and Baker. I I do think Detroit’s a little beat up. Something’s telling me though that they’re they’re going to be kind of feisty. They’ll play better than they did against the Chiefs. That that was a textbook I I said it. I was like that is a textbook Mahomes and Reed spot. They are not falling two and four. And I will say when’s the last time Detroit lost two in a row. So I could see it’s not like they can’t win this game. They are favored for a reason. But and they’re much better at home. So yeah, I I just think six six and a half’s a big number. I mean to me they’re the best two teams in the NFC right now. Bucks are a touchdown dog. That’s a lot. That is a lot. Um, and yes, go Mariners. TJ Jeremy Caleb is supposed to be franchise tagged. Zero questions. Franchise. He’s going to be franchise tag. Uh oh. Is going. But I mean, we’re five, we’re six games into year two. It’s way too early to know that. Way too early. We don’t know if he’s going to be a guy you want to for sure extend. We don’t know if he’s going to be a guy that you would tag. We don’t know if he’s a guy you you would or would not do the fifth year option. It’s too early right now. It’s too early. Uh, okay. Have I told you guys about how water? Let me tell you guys something as I crack open my How water here and just get a little little refreshing sip here. Little fresh. You guys have been seeing me drink mine on the show. That is crisp. Um, yeah, like FGO there, I think. Uh, sorry, I’m just messaging Trace back real quick. He’s got a title question. You’re good. So, hashtagbear chat, trade ideas, upcoming game, overall thoughts on the team. You fire away. We got answers coming up next. [Music] I’m Harrison Graham. We are back with another mailbag here on Chicago Bears. Now from the Bears 85, # Bears, what’s an under the radar trade we could do that wouldn’t cost much? Good question because obviously, you know, we always uh get questions. Trey Hendrickson, Jeffrey Simmons, and listen, we we love answering those questions. The hypotheticals are fun, right? It’s a fun part of sports. But um these are some guys I think are worth monitoring. Klayas Campbell’s in his late 30s. The Cardinals have lost five straight. He’s a versatile defensive lineman. Would bring some leadership experience and he’s still productive on a on a limited snap count. So, you know, would a pick swap get that done? I think he’d be someone I look at. Uh Rul Douglas with the Dolphins. If I’m Miami, I’m getting rid of everybody that I can. Uh I don’t think it would cost more than a pick swap. Uh, you know, Tyreek Stevenson sounds like he’s avoided major injury, but I still think you could use some corner depth there. Uh, Tyreek Wilson, obviously Bill Barnwell had that trade idea swap, a little Braxton Jones, Tyreek Wilson. Um, you know, if you could get him for, you know, a cheap player or a pick swap or something like that, I’d be interested. Kyle Vanoi still a good pass rusher. It hasn’t been as good this year as he was the last couple years with Baltimore, but he’s making like two million bucks, so I I’d be open to that. more of a three- four guy, so you’d probably have to use him situationally. Uh then Alante Taylor, a guy Dennis Allen’s familiar with. He’s actually been pretty good this year uh for the Saints. So maybe he’d be an option if they want to bring him or another corner in to, you know, be some uh insurance for an injury or a guy like Nan Wright who’s been a little up and down. Uh notice I didn’t mention a running back. I I think right now corner and defensive line are the two spots I’d be looking at if I’m looking to bolster this team. I you know I don’t think DeAndre Swift’s the end all be all. Kyle Manung guy is still a very young player obviously. Uh but if this trend continues of at least being pretty good running the football, maybe not best in the league like we’ve seen the last two weeks. Uh I think you can more than get by for the rest of the season and revisit running back in the offseason if you want to upgrade then. Uh sure if there’s an injury the next two weeks that could change things, but corner defensive line those are a couple of areas uh I could see the Bears making a minor move during the NFL trade deadline or before it I should say. Uh what is the bigger need for the Bears in your opinion, quarterback or Dline? Uh give us your thoughts in the comments below. And if there’s a player that uh you specifically would like to add, let me know who that is. Okay, Sitch Lover with the $2 super play calling was mid, too much room. Spread it out. I don’t know if I agree with any of that to be honest. I think the play calling was fine. Um also, if anything, it wasn’t enough room. I he only had six targets. They misfired on a couple. He dropped the ball. Caleb missed a couple passes. Um, yeah, I I don’t know if I agree with that. And by the way, this passing game’s been at its best when Caleb has targeted Rome more. Um, so I uh I hear you. You want everybody to eat, but if Rome’s that top guy, like let’s, you know, most weeks he should have 10 plus targets. I would say that. Uh, Alex Todd, appreciate the five. Can we shout out how refreshingly intense but also calm Ben Johnson is? Perfect coach for Caleb to excel. coach of the year. Yeah, I think the relationship with Ben and Caleb is is developing nicely. Obviously, the play has been inconsistent. Ben said it would be a bumpy ride, but I think I think Caleb is uh taking to the hard coaching well, but you make a good point there. He seems as a coach to balance that intensity and calmness somehow. Like, it’s hard to thread that needle, right? Like there’s a lot of rah, loud, overly intense coaches that don’t really know how to be calm in certain moments. Ben seems to understand when to push certain buttons and that that feels pretty rare as a young guy. So, I I’ve been listen I love the hire. He was my top guy by a mile. He’s somehow exceeded my expectations. I think he’s been fantastic. Uh I think right now Shane Stiken’s probably coach of the year. They’re on top of the AFC. Daniel Jones has been awesome. But Ben’s probably in that tier 2 list of candidates with Mike Vrabel and a few other guys. So yeah, I mean there’s a chance uh if they somehow won this division, I think he he’d have a very strong case. Right now, I’d go with Stiken, but he’s probably top five, top six in terms of uh odds to win coach of the year. I’d say that for sure. We’re here every single day, 247 365 content all year long. We do live shows, we do regular videos, we do short form content, community poll posts where you guys can interact. Uh we’re all over the place here on the YouTube channel. So, subscribe, turn on notifications. We do these live mailbags every Monday, Thursday, and of course we answer your questions on game day as well. Okay, Tricky, uh, do you think height could be playing a role in Caleb’s struggle in the offense? I mean, look, he’s 61ish. Um, you know, you’re going to have some balls batted. Saw a couple more the other day, so it’s always going to play a minor role. I don’t think this is like a Kyler situation where he literally can’t see. But yeah, there’s probably certain plays where um it can be a challenge, especially that’s why they had to bolster the interior. If you’re interior offensive line is getting driven in your face consistently, it it’s hard to see over him if you’re a 61 or less quarterback. So, I think it’s probably a small part of it tricky. But, um I think the last couple weeks he’s just been a little sped up. Like I I think before the byee he was getting himself into a pretty good rhythm even when he was missing some throws. It felt like the rhythm the base was in a better spot. I think he’s been a little sped up especially in that New Orleans game. I also didn’t think the tackles were as good in that game uh as they were uh in prior weeks. So um no panic here you know got to improve obviously. Uh but uh yeah I would say minor small reason. I don’t think it’s a primary reason though. Okay. Bears goated. Has Tmaine earned an extension? That’s hard to say. He’s still got a year left with 18 million. I would say if the season ended today, I would keep him uh next year under that number. Uh now, could you get him on a team friendly deal? Like could could you extend him on a less per year basis than what his initial deal was? Like they extended TJ two for 20, which he’s been the highest graded linebacker the last two weeks in the NFL. Uh I know PFF’s been wonky this year, but he’s been fantastic since he’s been back. Termaine’s been really good as well. He’s playing much better at that will linebacker spot. Let’s continue to see this play out. Other than the Raiders game, I think Edmonds has played pretty well this year. Uh so, uh you know, let’s see if he can keep stacking. I I like what he’s doing. I love what TJ’s doing. Um but you’ve got the benefit of having him under contract next year. You don’t have to force the issue, but uh I I’m happy with how he’s playing. This is what we were hoping for uh when they signed him. So maybe he’s finally found a home in this scheme and in that will linebacker position where he was playing Mike before. All right, more questions to come uh here on this mailbag. So continue to fire away #bears or super chat. But do want to show some love to our sponsor prize picks. You and I make decisions every day, but on prize picks, being right can get you paid. Don’t miss any of the excitement this season on prize picks where it’s good to be right. I’ve had a really good season on prize picks. The last couple lineups I’ve whiffed on, but uh you know, when you go on a like eight out of nine tear and get up five, six bucks, you got a little wiggle room, and that wiggle room started with that $50 uh $50 in lineups with code CLNS after you play a $5 lineup. Just saying opportunities there. Uh Price Fix is also the only app that offers stacks, meaning you can pick the same player up to three times in one lineup. Want to pick more on Caleb Williams pass yards, rush yards, and touchdowns? You can do so right now only on Price Picks. The way price fix works is very simple. Two or more players in a lineup up to six players. You pick more or less on their stat projections. If you hit, you win money. Uh I already got a little two-player lineup that I feel good about uh this upcoming week. Derrick Henry uh goblin play to score a touchdown. Rushing receiving. Uh I think he finds the end zone. And then uh Roma Dunes a demon play. Those are harder to hit. Uh one touchdown, more than half a touchdown. Uh he’s due two weeks in a row without a touchdown after having at least one in the first four games. I think he bounces back, finds the end zone here. $20 entry to win $55 on this two player lineup. Download the Prize Pix app today. Use our code CLNS to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. That is code CLNS to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. Prize picks. It’s good to be right. Uh okay. Uh FGO, uh thoughts on trying Ruben Hiplight at a position like corner? He’s got the speed. He cannot play corner, guys. Like, just because you run a sub44 doesn’t mean you can run corner. That’s that’s straight line speed. There’s technique. There’s coverage skills. It’s knowing like could he like train for a couple years and be a strong safety or something? Maybe. But like, you know how hard it is to play corner in the NFL? It is extremely difficult. I would say after quarterback, offensive tackle, and defensive line, it’s the hardest position in the league. Especially in man’s schemes. just like it’s you and no one else, bro. And all the and all the rules are against you, by the way. So, uh, no, I don’t think he could play corner. Um, is it alarming he’s been a healthy scratch the last two weeks? Yeah, I don’t love that. But also at the same time, your top two linebackers are playing lights out and Noah Su, uh, who did miss this last game with a concussion, has been really good as your as your other linebacker. So, you know, we we’ll see what his future is, but I don’t think it’s at corner. Appreciate the 10 though. Also, Zayn Gray, appreciate the two. Should Jake Moody become this team’s kicker? You know, after one game, I I said that was premature. After two games, it’s interesting now, right? Like, I don’t think it’s like for sure he’s the guy, but if Cairo doesn’t kick this week and Moody’s elevated, which would be his final game day elevation with the practice squad, you can do that three times. For example, Jonathan Ford, he’s out of game day elevation. So, if they want him to play again this season, they have to sign him to the 53. If Jake Moody is elevated this week and kicks well, then I think it becomes a tough decision because Kairo has been a great kicker for this team. I know people get frustrated with him because he doesn’t have the strongest leg. I do too. I I’m frustrated that you can’t try 58 59 yarders with him, especially in end of half end of game situations because you see it across the league. But if we’re being fair and objective when Cairo is in range, he’s been very steady. He’s not a perfect kicker. Sometimes he kicks the ball low, but he’s very accurate and when he’s in range, he’s been very steady. He’s been, you know, high 80s in percentage. That’s well above average. Like we’ve seen much for worse here, right? You know, it’s uh we we remember Cody Parky. So, um I’m not 100% there yet, but if you told me he kicked on Sunday, you know, went three for three or something like that, hit a long range kick, that’s one thing we haven’t seen one of those 58 60 yarders. No kick Jake Moody has made yet is a kick Tairo camp makes. I do think that’s worth mentioning, but at the same time, what if you kind of just I don’t want to say lucked, but kind of lucked into your long-term answer here. That that’s something to consider, too, because Cairo is in his, you know, early mid-30s. I think he’s 33, 34. So, it could be a tough call depending on what happens this week. So, this is a big week if Jake Moody kicks. Uh, listen, if you’re Jake Moody, all you can do is make it a tough decision on the Bears. So, uh, we’ll see what happens. Uh, if he kicks this week and kicks well, I think it’s going to be a big story line. All right. Will the Bears make a trade? Trade deadline coming up. Curious what you guys think. Type Y for yes, or you can type in for no. Will the Bears make a trade? All right, Kittis, in your opinion, who has been the best player acquisition that pulls made in the offseason? This offseason, Joe Toney. I I I He’s just so steady, man. He is not giving up. I don’t think he’s giving up a pressure. He definitely hasn’t given up a sack. Uh he is actually I think he’s maybe given up a couple pressures, but no sacks and no penalties. And this is a highly penalized team and he does not have one. Um he’s just like a stabilizer to me. Like regardless of how he plays, which he’s been very good, but he’s just a stabilizer. I think you could argue it’s been the best acquisition of the Poles era. You needed a veteran uh that’s been there and done that. He’s won a lot. Oh, and by the way, he’s a damn good player. Like it that was such a home run move. Fourth round pick. I get he’s 32, but like if you get two uh three even two good years out of this guy, uh I I just think right place, right time, uh great move and you extended him for 17 and a half a year. Like that’s for what he provides that that’s kind of a bargain. So, um yeah, I I think he’s easily the best move they made this offseason from a player acquisition standpoint. Uh DC Viper, do the Bears need to consider benching Theo? Look, I’d say one good good game, one bad game. I I did not think he was good against Washington in real time. Uh some of the uh grades that have come out, again, PFF’s been wonky this year, but um you know, other people have analyzed it as well, uh that study this stuff did not have a great game. Ben pointed out two bad penalties. Um wasn’t as sharp in run blocking. And that’s the thing with Theo, like the one thing that was clear and obvious uh in that Washington game is like, okay, if nothing else, this guy’s a major upgrade in the run game than what we’ve seen from Braxton Jones this year. Uh he doesn’t have the longest arm, so there’s going to be some pass pro limitations. Um you know, I I I think it’s still probably an upgrade over Braxton Jones. My guess is we get to the off season and there’s a question mark about left tackle. That would be my guess. Um, I think you’re just hoping Theo can be adequate, get you through this season. Uh, and then that’s probably a position to look into next off seasonason. Maybe Aussie can make the transition to the left side next year with the full off season. Um, maybe they flip Darnell right and Aussiey’s the right tackle. I don’t know. But, uh, for now, I think he’s what you got. But, I think it’s probably week to week. I mean, he goes out there and has a dud. Who knows? like I I don’t think Ben doesn’t strike me as a guy who’s not willing to change it up if if necessary. Again, one good game, one bad game. Let’s see what he does this week against the Ravens. All right, appreciate all the questions. A lot of good ones today. Uh you guys are crushing it. Uh follow me on social media. DMs are open at HGNFL, Twitter and Instagram. Still got to catch up on DMs after the win over the Saints. So, I will be sure to do that. And if you have any other questions, ask me over there. Again, it’s HGNFL. Bear down. Big Sean. People forget Caleb’s in year two. Growth is coming. He won’t be perfect. Also funny. No one is hounding JD Jaden Daniels for the a fumble. Media goes nuclear if that’s Caleb. Yeah. I mean I hate doing the you know if Caleb did that thing fame, but it is kind of true. Like I if if Caleb did what Jaden did at the end of that game, he would have gotten killed for it. And quite frankly, rightfully so. to just drop a handoff in that spot up two points. That’s kind of an inexcusable error. Like, you just can’t have it. I mean, like, it’s just unacceptable for that to happen in that spot. Like, I guarantee you Aman’s reaction would have been different. And quite frankly, that would have been deserved, right? Like, you can’t have that mistake in that spot. You should get criticized for it. You’re making, you know, $35 million on your rookie contract, whatever it is. you can’t hand the ball off like a double standard at all times. Sorry, man. Like just is what it is. Like again, this is everybody who or this is the guy that everyone was saying after last year, you know, great, best in his class, is he top five, is he top 10, whatever. Like he hasn’t been at the level this year and he’s dealt with injuries and stuff. In that prime time moment, the biggest storyline that came out about a quarterback in that game was Troy Aman’s commentary about Kate and that should not have been the case. The story should have been K Jaden blew the game. He blew the game. It’s third and one. Even if you don’t get the first down, you either have a chance to go on fourth or you can pin the Bears all the way back and you drop the handoff. It’s not like he dropped the snap. It’ be one thing. Okay, wet conditions, weird snap. Don’t squeeze it. He had the ball and as he turned to hand it off, he dropped it in Krosky Merritt’s lap, didn’t get it to him and the Bears recovered and won the game. I mean, you should get criticized for that. That’s ball handling 101, man. Like, that’s So, I hear you, Big Sean. Cornelius, could you imagine if the refs would have called that Manung Titi dead on uh end of game situation or end of half situation? I think he’s talking about when they blew it dead. Yeah. Yeah. Well, you’re probably not handing the ball off if it’s the last second of a half or a game. I guess at the end of a game, you might. And if you’re at the one, it’s the last play of the game. You might I think they were at like the five, though. Um, yeah. I mean, look, out of all the egregious uh officiating things we’ve seen, that one’s a little further down the list, but like when they blew that dead was weird. It’s like, if anything, you should have called progress earlier. By the time you called it, it’s like, okay, he’s clearly moving the pile. Um, so I was glad he was able to punch one in after that because that would have kind of sucked if he still didn’t have his first touchdown because that was a good example of his his his power, his contact balance on full display right there. It’s pretty good for a seventh rounder. Pretty good. Pretty good for a seventh rounder. Pretty good for anyone. It’s a great game for him. 13 for 81 and a TUD. I’ll take that for my RB2 any day of the week. John, get the hell out of Washington. Are you effing kidding me? Bro, one of your better calls. I showed Harry. So, like obviously, you know, he’s calling the game. He’s like locked in and everything. And I just I forget what I was I was getting something from the watch party and I remember just kind of like pulling up. I was just like, “Hold on, I just got to play this again.” And we played the clip and Harry go just goes, “I don’t remember any of that.” Like, you’re just so like locked in. Like just Yeah. I mean, you could convince me. I said I’ve said just about anything during some of these games. Uh it uh can’t explain. You just kind of That was one of your better calls though. I will say that’s up there. It was fun, man. If we do a another uh edition of Yeah, I think we’ll I think that’s a I think that’s a offseason video moving forward. Just biggest crashs, best moments from the prior season. It’s like a pre-training camp vid. Yeah, something tells me that’ll be on there. The Ravens one probably be in there. Margarown. Yeah, it’s good stuff. Harrison’s clean desk. Appreciate the five Ravens D seems to have slipped this year. Thoughts on their weaknesses? Yeah, they don’t have a great pass rush right now. Um the Matt Buou Matt BK loss is significant. Um huge. That’s a big loss. Kyle Hamilton’s back and playing. Rocoan’s going to be back this week. Um I’m guessing they’re going to be more buttoned up defensively coming out of the buy. kind of did this last year, Colin, where remember the first half of the year it’s like Zack Ore, no Mike McDonald, this doesn’t look good. Then second half of the year they were like top three in most categories. So I’m guessing they will play better uh with the extra time off, but um there’s also no replacing Anomdi Madab. So um Bear should have opportunities to put some points up. Uh again, I think it’ll be better than what they’ve shown on tape so far this year. But yeah, you know, that defensive line, which is always a calling card for them, has been below average and um you know, they’re the middle of that defense, especially with Roin out, has you’ve been able to exploit. So um him being back is huge for them. Um I will say Mike Mike Green’s been a whiff. He hasn’t done much for them as a second rounder, which kind of surprises me. So they’ve invested in corner and really outside of uh Nate Wiggins. Um yeah, that’s another thing. Humphrey’s having a bad year. bad year. And Jaier hasn’t looked great either. Yeah, he he feels washed. That’s kind of like the Latimore situation. I just think he’s he is what he is at this point. I still think I don’t I’m not ready to declare Humphrey washed, but he has not played well. Wiggins is pretty good. Uh he he’s a good corner. Baltimore gets it right. They’ve also been really Yeah, they’ve been banged up at safety. Hamilton’s missed some time. Our Washington got hurt before the season. Um so again, I expect Baltimore to play well in this game. I mean, this is it. You go, you fall the one and six, I mean, you’re done. So, um, I don’t think if you’re I don’t think the Bears are looking at this being like, “Oh, we’re going to have a field day offensively.” A, the Bears have their own issues to figure out, and B, I just Baltimore is one of those teams that like bye-week, I think Harbaugh’s 10 and three off the buy or something like that. Um, probably more, they’ve played more games under him. Whatever it is, I saw he has a really good record. They’re gonna they’re going to play a lot better. That that would be my guess. Rocoan will be everywhere. He might have 20 tackles. He might have 20 tackles. Uh, okay. Alex Ammerling, run the ball, get takeaways. Quintessential Bears football. Love it. Alex, appreciate the five. Dean, did you see what PFF grade uh guy when he quotes he was defending Cale Caleb lower than Fields? Gross. Caleb is constantly improving. Yeah, I mean, look, a couple things. One, growth isn’t necessarily linear. That’s something Ben has said. Like for example, clearly the Saints game wasn’t his best game of the season. Like it’s hard to play better every game. The Saints you could argue was his worst game. But even to like to point out the PFF grading, Colin, they graded Caleb much better against the Saints than they did against the Commanders. I thought he was a lot better against the Commanders. I didn’t think he was great against the Commanders, but if I’m comparing the two games, I thought it was better against Washington than New Orleans. So, I don’t know. Did they like did they like since that tweet that tweet and others kind of went viral did they like almost like revert too much like oh if we bury Caleb we’re going to get killed? It’s like no just like there again I get it’s a data driven thing primarily but alarms have to go off last week in your system somehow. There’s got to be a fail safe. He cannot be graded worse than a guy who had negative 10 passing yards and took nine sacks. I don’t care what the circumstances are. That has to be the lowest graded starter of the week. And like this isn’t me trying to bury Justin Fields. It’s just a fact. Like you that can’t be. It didn’t matter. Player name here if that’s the stat line. If Pat Mahomes said that or did that exact same game, worst quarterback of the week, that has to be the case. Like it just uh it it’s just weird. I think they’ve had a wonky year at a lot of positions. And listen, I respect the work they put in. It’s a lot of hours to to literally grade every single player in the NFL. I’m not burying their platform, but the grading this year has felt weird in a lot of cases. So, um, you know, I I think it’s still a worthwhile product, but take it with a grain of salt. And listen, it’s you should take it with a grain of salt regardless if you agree or disagree with the grades because as JJ Watt pointed out, Colen, you have no idea what each player is told to do on each play. So like you’re grading it on a curve of like how you interpret the game, the person who’s grading it. So, you know, I think it’s always you always have to grade evaluate with that in mind because this isn’t basketball where you kind of know like there’s not 50 different plays in basketball, right? You know, teams might run five to seven offensive concepts and sets. In the NFL, you might have 50 different concepts like it. So, you know, night and day and it’s 11 players all doing a different job. The NBA, it’s like, okay, guy brings it down. You might have a big set of pick and either roll or pop. You might have a backside screen with a bat cut or something like that, but you’re not going to have, you know, very rarely do you watch like a game and you’re like, God, they reinvented the wheel offensively here. So, yeah, it’s just it’s hard to evaluate, man. And that’s why I’m not going to completely bury them. It’s hard to do what they’re doing, but it has felt weird this year. And not just for the Bears, just across the board. like some like Mahomes is the 13th highest grade quarterback. Are you kidding me? He has been he’s been out of this world this year. He was carrying them early on when they were beat to hell. And now Rashi Rice comes back. Like this week he got a 60s pass grade. 31 points on five drives. How is that possible? So yeah, it’s been weird. It’s a great question. Uh TJ, next head coach fired. I’ll be honest, I was kind of surprised Mc Mike Mike McDaniel had a job this morning. I know Stephen Ross seems like a patient, hesitant, nonchalant guy, but you lose 31 to6 to the Browns. Colin Dylan Gabriel, I don’t know how many passes he ended up with. It was 31 to6 and he had thrown the ball 11 times. Yeah, that’s that feels impossible. I I actually did the um I did our Browns morning video, believe it or not. I produced that video. I believe he was like I want to say he was eight for 11 at one point. He was I think he finished 11 of 18. I’m actually curious. I’m just going to pull it up, dude. And Judkins I mean they gave him the ball. I wouldn’t be surprised if he gave him he got like 30. Could you imagine him in this offense? Holy dude. Pretty crazy. We had him as RB3. So we were on base with that. He was he’s he’s he’s a hell of a player, man. But here’s the thing to TJ’s point. It’s like with Miami so reluctant. 13 of 18. 13 of 18. Yeah. He was 8 for 11 when it was initially 31 to6. Yeah. I mean that is 13 13 of 18. Judkins would in this offense. Oh my god. Yeah. Listen, I love Kyle Manung more than next thing. Quinnshaw Judkins. He’s a that’s a real three down back too. I mean he can do it all. Um I’ll still say McDaniel though TJ to answer the question. Is Ganon creeping up? I think they’ve had some unfortunate circumstances, but like Excuse me. They’ve lost five in a row. If it becomes like eight or nine, like I think they’re going to give him a new QB. I think Kyler is going to be on his way out. That was my take before the season, but I still do wonder with what happened against Tennessee, not just that they lost, but like the the look of it. Like if he loses the locker room, they don’t have a choice. I mean, you would have to get rid of him. I still think he deserves like Kyler is not by any means even when he’s been healthy this year anything you know worth he’s not having a great year um keeping and I just think that Ganon this you know the Cardinals don’t want to sit there and you know kind of move off of a guy that hey listen let’s give him you know quarterback that he can kind of pick as his guy run his kind of you know full array of uh you know kind of style of team to me like Jacob Brcett even though they’ve lost the last two weeks where started. Dude, he can get the ball out to McBride, Marvin Harrison Jr. like playmakers in there. Well, and he can he can throw over the middle. I mean, Kyler just rarely can do that because of his size. So, yeah, I’m kind of with you. I do think he gets traded, but that doesn’t mean Ganon’s not out either. I I think there’s a chance he’s out as well. But give give Ganon uh They keep fighting though. It’s not like they’re getting blown out in these games. I mean, they probably should have beat Green Bay yesterday. And you know what? I think with Kyler coming back, wouldn’t be surprised if they go win a couple games, they probably shouldn’t and Ganon keeps his job. And now if Kyler comes back and they’re just continue to lose. Okay. Maybe. Yeah. But maybe it’s a full reset. Who knows? Yeah. They’re an interesting offseason team because like I feel like there’s pieces there like I don’t know like if they pivot from Kyler and hit on a QB in the draft or something. It’s going to be interesting though because it’s not a great QB draft. So if you’re pivoting off Kyler like what’s your plan? So yeah. I mean m maybe it’s a draft day trade. Kyler gets traded on draft day or team again similar position. They’re like looking for a QB. Where does Kyler go if he gets traded? Steelers. I think he’s more of a jet. I don’t hate that. Trade down from the number one pick. Get a hall. Bring in Kyler. Yeah. I actually don’t hate that. I think he’s a jet because they probably won’t win anything with Kyler, but he’s he at least makes them watchable. Yeah, I think he’s they’re not 0 and7 with Kyler. Here’s the thing. Like the Jets have been down this road of like, you know, they’ve drafted a quarterback, it hasn’t worked out. They’ve drafted a quarterback, it hasn’t worked out. They signed Justin Fields, it hasn’t worked out. I think they just go trade for the best QB on the market. just get the best one avail and Kyler may not cost like you might get him for like a day two pick like could you get him for a second or a third I mean go went for a third obviously that hasn’t worked out but I’m just yeah I’m looking like I don’t think Cleveland’s trading for him uh just to name some other teams I don’t think had the Raiders not given Gino 75 million guaranteed I think they’d be a team to watch yeah get him indoors in Vegas I think he could do some damage I don’t think Miami can’t because are locked in with Tua. Well, and even if they trade Tua, they can’t then turn around and Exactly. take on that. Like if they if if the Dolphins say, “Screw it. We’re cutting Tua.” They’re just going to go with some bridge situation. Like they might even just say, “All right, Quinners, like come be our tank commander. If you shock us and play well, great. If not, yeah, we’re going to have the number one pick in the next draft.” So, I mean, let us know down in the chat. Like to me, he’s a Chad. That seems like the most likely. Also, I don’t know if he strikes me as a Tomlin type of quarterback. No, he kind of tried that last year for a year. Yeah. And I don’t think he was a fan of it. No, no, no. Uh I played with Kyler in high school in high school. Shout out to you, James. Uh we played or my high school played Kyler. Did I ever tell you I’ll throw one wildcard team and it would be objectively hilarious for chat sports. Saints. the Saints. Oh my god. It probably won’t happen because of their cap situation. Now, they always find a way to kind of maneuver, but that would be like or it Well, it won’t happen here. I was going to say one other team would like Would McVy bring him in if Stafford retired? But I don’t know if McVy would like a Kyler type of quarterback. No, I don’t think so either. I think uh yeah, like if I just I to me he seems like a jet. I think he hit the nail on the head with teams. I think I think he’s a Jet. Yeah, that’s that that seems that seems likely. Uh Ben says Quinton Williams sauce available. Jets 0 and seven. Uh there hasn’t really been buzz on either. They just paid s when you pay a guy it’s hard to turn around and sauce not good. Yeah, he hasn’t been good either. Sauce and he’s been also I could see the Bears trading for a corner cone. I don’t think they’re taking on a high price one cuz No. Whether he comes back this year or not, you do have Jaylen Johnson. Yes. Like I I don’t think you’re And Tyreek, I don’t know if he’s played well enough to like auto extend him, but like he’s played well to where he at minimum he’s been a quality starter. Yes. Like honestly, he’s play if he plays like this level the rest of the season, even if you’re like, okay, there’s a little bit of like, okay, what is he long term? If you can get him on a team friendly extension, like I don’t know if you can get him like 12. If you get him on the Kyler deer deal, Gordon 13 a year for an starting outside corner, like yeah, I’d probably do that. Um Quinnon Williams cap hit right now 15.6 million, but that’s pro rated by week. So like you’re probably only taking on by the deadline like 8 million. I mean that’s pretty interesting. Did the Jets Did the Jets move him though? I don’t know. Even next year, next year 20.7 million and then in 27 it’s 25.4 million. If I had to guess, I think Quinnon is going to be along with Garrett Wilson those two building blocks on each side of the ball for the Jets. Like they’re going to keep Quinnon, try to build around that defense with him, you know, eat whatever they can of the sauce contract and Garrett Wilson’s going to be the guy on offense. Outside of that, I think they’re sticking with sauce through next year, too. Like I think you just paid him. It’s not a tradable contract right now. I think you just have to hope that like that get he he plays better. I mean really I think that’s what you’re going to have to do there. All right, a few more flying in here. So we’ll continue to answer these. Jeremy, I’m sorry. You’re right. I just hope Caleb is our future. I don’t know what I said. He asked this question earlier. Caleb is going Oh, the franchise tag thing. Yeah, I mean we all hope. Um I just think it’s way too early to give a definitive answer. So uh Dennis, doesn’t it feel like we we don’t need to make a trade? Yeah, I mean I will say like out of all the deadlines that Ryan PS has been here, if you told me this is the one that no trade happens, I I’d believe it. Like they feel kind of like a B low team. Like make a minor move if you need a depth piece somewhere. if you want to get a rotation pass rusher, if you want a corner depth, if there’s a running back you like that you want to add into your rotation for cheap, maybe. Um, but yeah, I mean, really on offense, you don’t need any position, right? I mean, right, you’re deep at tackle regardless of how good the tackles are. You’re deep at tackle. You’re uh you have depth on the interior with Ryan Bates and Luke Newman. You’ve obviously got three quarterbacks on the roster. the way you’ve run the ball the last couple weeks. Plus, you just activated Travis Homer. He’s like an emergency running back if needed. You still have Britain Brown on the practice squad. Got a million receivers, like tight ends. I mean, if if the KT thing was something serious, I could see like a very minor move there. But, you know, running back, I don’t think they’re going to do at this point, right? And on defense to me, it’s either corner or defensive lineman. You’re good at linebacker. I mean, the safety play Colin has been awesome. Yeah. Kevin By has been fantasted. He’s played at at least a Pro Bowl level the last month and I don’t know has he played better. I mean four picks should be five if not the friendly fire yesterday. Yeah. I mean he’s been awesome. He’s been really good. He’s bounced back after you know starting off the season pretty slow. He looked sluggish early. I was like man has father time caught up but he’s he’s always been an instinctive player and he has been around the football a ton. So yeah Bears fan for life says still want Kavon. They’re not trading Tibido, especially after the um No. Uh who got hurt for the Giants? Um I don’t know. It was Burns, I think. No, he he was playing. So, it wasn’t Burns. So, it was uh Carter. It was Abdul Carter. I think Abdul got hurt yesterday. I just don’t see them trading. Regardless of any of that, he’s playing like a highle starter. I mean, you don’t trade a high level pass rusher. I’ll ask you this. Who’s most likely to be traded to the Bears? Who like one guy? If you if you had to be like, “Hey, this is the favorite to be your next insert depth corner.” I I Yeah, like a Rosul Douglas like Rul Douglas for a seventh, like something like that. That feels like the most likely. Um I don’t think a big move’s coming. Um you never know in this league. Things change, but uh I think too it’s kind of like you’re you’re winning right now. Like it’s year one with this with new this new coaching staff. like it’s probably not the time to force the issue. Like yep, I think you kind of roll with what you got. If you need depth at a position or two, you can make a couple minor moves. Um but yeah, I I I don’t see a DC Viper trade a first for Josh Dos. Lara people are joining the the hive, man. Let’s go. Okay, Noah, I’m going to be patient with Caleb. I believe Ben Johnson can make him better than Goff eventually. Yeah, I mean, two completely different quarterbacks. I I just think you have to be patient. I even saw a graphic today, Colin Goff’s first six games with Ben Johnson. Again, this is an established pocket quarterback who was coached by Shawn McVey for six years. The numbers, including the accuracy, pretty similar to Caleb’s first six game with Ben. I think Goff is at like 63%, Caleb 61, but like touchdown interception ratio was actually advantage. Caleb uh yards was pretty similar. So, like again, I’m not like I’m just saying like even an established starter, it took time uh with Ben Johnson. So, like talking about a secondyear quarterback in this league, six games into this system. Like, yeah, we’re not we’re not we’re not punting on the development right now. Like, that would be insane. No, I remember um talking about it in my bull predictions video that I did way back in July. I compared like golf pre Ben Johnson to um what was or what was it? Yeah, pre-Ben Johnson to obviously when he had Ben Johnson then Caleb obviously uh I think yeah there’s a lot of potential for Caleb to grow and listen not linear right it’s never going to be just you know straight up it’s going to be have some bumps in the road but you hope it ends up close or at the top of where your uh ceiling is. And by the way that doesn’t mean we can’t be critical. That doesn’t mean I’m not going to sit here and say you got to make that throw Caleb don’t take that sack Caleb. Like the accuracy has got to be better. It it just does. Um, so my guess this week, I I’ll I’ll throw this on record right now. I think we will see Caleb run around a lot less against the Ravens than he has the last two weeks. I I think they are going to kind of reharp on the fundamentals cuz he was really getting into a nice nice uh rhythm in the pocket the f the first month. He really wasn’t bailing out much. Um, yep. The the first month he was doing it a couple times here and there. And Ben Johnson said today, “Look, we don’t want to neuter that part of his game, but I I do think you will see a game plan to have him hang in there, get the ball out quickly. It seems like yesterday he wasn’t uh taking the check down sometimes. So, um you know, it’s all about threading that needle, but especially on the early downs, like you don’t need to chase a play like just take the completions and and move forward.” And I thought he was doing a good job of that before um the Saints game and even a little bit the Washington game. Uh, Michael, do you think we will get a peanut punch fumble this season? Feel like I think Sweatz was a peanut punch this week or Well, not really actually. He just hit Spencer Rattler’s arm. Wasn’t there a peanut punch against Washington, though? I feel like wasn’t the Jaden Daniels fumble a peanut punch? I’d have to look at it again. Obviously, not on the uh the handoff. No, no, no. The one earlier or no, the Crossky Merit one. Crossky Merritt maybe. Feel like that might have been a I have to look at it. I mean, teams get them every week. Stevenson’s against the Raiders peanut punch. I don’t think there was a fumble in that game. He ripped the ball away from Javvante Williams. Did he force a fumble against the Raiders? He had a pick. I know. DC just said it. So, I’m I don’t know. I can’t remember. A lot of turnovers. Can’t remember them all. Club dub. Problem to have uh the latest is we’ll see in December. I’m guessing he has probably a medical check next month and then again in December. um he’s rehabbing. So, we’ll see. If they’re in the mix and he’s healthy, I could see him returning. If they’re not in the mix, even if he’s healthy, you probably don’t bring him back. So, um I would guess maybe around Thanksgiving we get some kind of an update on him, but I I don’t expect an update in the in the near future. Uh okay, Harrison’s clean desk. Appreciate all the super chats, guys. How many uh snaps do you think Booker is gonna get? Well, they gotta activate them first. I do think they will, but listen, Cullen, like we gotta be we gotta give credit where it’s due. Dominic Robinson’s playing the best football of his career. Like he’s actually getting into the backfield some. So, you know, are you taking snaps away from him? Um, you know, how do you split snaps with him and Shamar Turner who’s been playing more edge the last couple of weeks? That’s been kind of a quiet storyline we haven’t talked about a ton. Shamar Turner playing more on the edge. So, I could also even see a scenario, Colin, where they activate him, but he’s actually inactive this first game. So, um, yeah, it’s kind of like right as he’s ready to come back, they’ve actually gotten some better play out of these depth guys. So, that’ll be interesting to see, but I do think they’ll activate him. How many snaps he plays, that uh, that remains to be seen. Agreed. Uh, Jeffrey says, “I love saying, what if the Bills gave up on Josh to the haters?” Yeah, I mean look, that’s the extreme example. Obviously, um I’m not expecting Caleb Williams to become a Josh Allen level player, but at the same time, a lot of the things that we’re talking about now is what people were talking about with Josh. And the reason I’m still pretty optimistic on Caleb, two reasons. One, he’s got the right coach, Ben Johnson. That’s number one. Two, the accuracy issues weren’t a thing for him in college, Colin. So, like I just think if he can slow down, I think a lot of this is he gets sped up. If he just takes a breath and just slows down a bit and the fundamentals continue to improve, I think the accuracy will improve over time. Um, he’s kind of like a streaky shooter right now. Like he gets into these modes where like, oh man, there’s eight out of 10 just beautiful throws. Then it’s like, oh, four out of the next 10. Like it’s just about tightening that up. Um, but I hear you, Jeffrey. It’s it’s way too early to think about pivoting. Yeah, exactly. What if the Ravens gave up a little more? Yeah. Uh, we got Hit Stick next. What if the Jets stuck with Darnold? Who knows? Maybe, maybe you can’t have success there. Who knows? Maybe not. Uh, hit stick. Is it just me or does it seem like every time we throw it to Burden, there is no one within 10 yards of him playing more? He’s a stud dude. I I I I think they’re Look, I liked Zakius. I get he’s a vet. I get there’s probably a reliability factor there. He really has not provided a ton of like highlevel moments to me, Colin. Like they threw a couple plays him again last week. Like they tried to bubble screen with him. I’m like that needs to be burdened. Like especially like a bubble. It’s like that’s not a playbook thing. Like Luther Burton can’t line up and catch a a bubble screen. I find that hard to believe. So, I’m not trying to be overly critical. I I I have full trust and faith in Ben Johnson. And I have no I I don’t I’m not saying Zakius can’t have a role, but like those type of plays specifically should be Luther Bird in my opinion. Like, get this guy the ball in space and let him cook because he is so dynamic with the ball in his hands. And I’m with you in general, play Luther more, play Zakias less. Again, I think Zakius should have a role. He’s got uh he’s been pretty reliable in some certain third down situations, but like you could argue Luther is the most explosive player on your offense. So, I want that guy playing. So, uh and by the way, this is a different discussion and you have to have two returners back on kickoff. I get it. But like how ordinary is Devin Dubet? I mean, every return is to the 27. I’m not trying to pick on the guy. And listen, punt return, if you want him back there, if you don’t trust Burden to catch him cleanly, fair enough. But like, can you put someone more dynamic next to Burden on kickoff return? And maybe part of it is just, well, if he’s just the punt returner, he’s probably not worth the roster spot. It’s like, well, find someone else then. I There was there was a certain, you know, kick returner for the Bears last season that, you know, at least started week one and, you know, didn’t necessarily work out. So, listen, maybe Richard High Totower just fused like, “Hey, steady Eddie.” Like, and look, he’s reliable. I’m not saying the guy’s a joke. It would just it’d be nice if every once in a while you rip a return to the 40. It just never happens. How I would guess the percentage of their kickoff returns past the 30 is less than 50/50. That that’s that’s underwhelming when the when the new touchback is the 35. Um, now maybe that’s not being blocked well enough. Maybe Burton, as the other return guy, isn’t doing his part as blocker. I don’t know. But teams are clearly kicking away from Burton. I’ll tell you that. They do not want to kick it to number 10. No, they don’t. And he’s clearly the more explosive, to your point, you know, guy with the football in his hand out of those two. But yeah, listen, hey, all reliable. They just don’t see a need to change it. It’d be also be one thing if like this offense was struggling to move the ball like like you just need splash plays. I I get it. But no, I God, it just would be it’d be nice. Yeah, it’d be nice. All right, appreciate all the questions. We have uh one more segment to go here, then we will call it a little double header Monday Night Football coming up. So, uh want to sign off and uh check those out those games tonight. But uh trade buzz, Diana Rini, she dropped a lot of nuggets over the weekend. We will uh check those out next here on Chicago Bears Now. [Music] Diana Rini of the Athletic and formerly ESPN dropped some more NFL trade nuggets over the weekend and I thought, hey, could the Bears get involved in any of these players that she mentioned that could be on the move? We’re going to talk about it here on Chicago Bears now. My name is Harrison Graham. It’s trade season, rumors, obviously daily news with what’s going on with the team. That’s always going to be the focus with the injury updates, the game-to-ame stuff, all of that. But when trade rumors are out there, uh, it’s our job to hit them. So, uh, we’re going to continue to work in some trade videos over the next couple of weeks leading up to the November 4th deadline. So, hit that subscribe button, turn on notifications, daily Bears content here on Chicago Bears now. Okay. Diana Rini, a big part of this report based on what she’s hearing from sources is that uh two of the bigger names that have been linked to trades, uh from what she’s been told as of now, the plan is for those teams to not trade him, that is Trey Hendrickson with the Bengals and Jeffrey Simmons with the Titans. Let’s start with Hendrickson here. Uh and we’ve kind of talked about this, but with the Bengals winning on Thursday night over the Steelers, that was kind of a do or die game because if you lose, you fall to two and five. Pittsburgh improves to five and one, but now getting to three and four, only a game and a half back of Pittsburgh and having the initial head-to-head, Steelers schedule’s tough coming up. Uh, most reporters are saying the same thing, including Diana, that he is not expected to get traded. And the Bengals next two games, the Jets at home, that’s a game they should win. Uh, and then against our Chicago Bears, probably a coin flip game since it’s in Cincinnati. If they win at least one of those, you would think they keep Hendrickson because they’d be four and five or if they win both, five and four. Uh I would say unless the Jets surprise the Bengals and upset him, Hendrickson’s not going anywhere because they don’t want to punt on this season. This is a big year for Zack Taylor. They are still hopeful that Joe Bro could get back in December uh if they are in the playoff picture. So that win was significant. I think had they lost to the Steelers, there’d be a lot of Trey Henderson chatter. Maybe he’s even traded already. Uh but that win kind of changed the dynamic of that situation. And uh again, unless they lose the Jets, I would guess he’s not getting traded. And it sounds like the same is true with Jeffrey Simmons. Despite the Titans uh probably not being favored in another game this year, they’re one and six and look absolutely horrific. They’ve already fired their head coach uh Brian Callahan. Rini reports every player on the roster is available except for Jeffrey Simmons and Cam Ward, which I actually like that approach. I would even be open to trading Simmons if some team made a blockbuster offer like two first round picks, which to be clear, I would not do that if I was the Bears. I’m not giving up two ones for Jeffrey Simmons right now. But, uh, that report on top of Vienna Rapaort saying once Callahan was fired, uh, Mike Borggon’s phone was ringing off the hook, the Titans GM, uh, trying to see if Jeffrey Simmons was available. And the answer was the same to all teams made a call. Not happening. And look, I see both sides of it from Tennessee. This guy is 27, 28 years old. He’s having an allp pro caliber year. He leads interior defensive lineman in pressures this year. And Mike Borggoni comes from Kansas City where he saw Chris Jones up close and how pivotal he’s been in their success not only in the regular season but in their playoff runs and in their Super Bowl championships. When you have a guy like that that can affect the quarterback from the interior, it’s hard to find. So, I understand them not wanting uh to trade him. And to be honest, from a Bears standpoint, they don’t feel like they’re making a big move. I my guess and we’ll talk about this toward the end of the video. The Bears are a buy low sell low team where they’re rolling mostly with what they got. If they need a depth piece here, if they want to, you know, if some team wants Braxton Jones and the Bears can get something back, I could see maybe that happening. But, uh, I don’t think the Bears would be in the Jeffrey Simmons business anyway. I love the player. He’s awesome. You put him next to Javon Dexter, that sounds pretty fun. But, uh, I don’t know. I think if the Bears are going to make that big sexy trade, it’s probably in the off seasonason if I had to guess. Okay. Who is your dream bears trade target? It could be a big move. It could be a small move. It could be now. It could be in the off season. One guy. Who’s your dream bears trade target? I want to hear it. Okay. How about trading with the Dolphins? Maybe something like this is more likely. Uh Bradley Chub and Jaylen Phillips. Uh uh the Dolphins are getting calls on both of their edge rushers here. And Chubb’s been paid uh so he’s making about 20 $22 million per year uh for Miami. Phillips is uh playing out his fifth year option right now, which is 13 million in change. He’s been the better player and he’s young and in theory ascending. I think Bradley Chub kind of is who he is. He’s an above average pass rusher, but uh you know, his best days are probably behind him. I think he’s either 29 or 30 now. Uh Phillips is intriguing. He has some injury history, but his pressure rates like 17 18% this year. uh you know, don’t ignore the sacks, but he’s been the more consistent pass rusher for Miami this season. And again, he’s cheaper on that fifth year option. Uh and uh he is in theory ascending. Now, with him being a free agent after this year, this will probably be a move with an extension in mind. So, do you want to go that route? I think it’s fair to question that, too. If you are Ryan Polls, what I will say is the Bears have not gotten a lot of sack production from their defensive line. Javon Dexter has two and a half sacks. Montes Sweat has two. He’s played better the last two weeks, so hopefully that continues. I actually like what I’ve seen from Dominique Robinson as like a edge four type. Uh he’s been more of an edge three recently, so give him a lot of credit. Give the Bears credit for uh getting some development out of him. Dio Dingbo has seemingly been invisible as a pass rusher since week one. Uh he’s been fine as a run stopper. Uh and then Chris Williams as a depth defensive tackle has a sack. Uh Tano Passo has one as well, but they actually cut him. He’s back on the practice squad. You know, Jaylen Phillips for a fourth. you could talk me into that. But again, are you approaching that as a rental? Are you extending him? If you are extending him, does that mean you’re pivoting off Montes Sweat in the off season? Uh, you know, or do you try to move off of Dio Dingbo after one year? Because I don’t know if it makes sense to have, in fact, I would say it doesn’t to have Montes Sweat making 25 million a year. Dio Dingbo 16 a year. Then what’s Jaylen Phillips on an extension? 20 22. Does he get the sweat deal? That’s a lot of money for three edge rushers when I don’t know if any of them are dominant players. So, even Jaylen Phillips, uh, unless you view it as a rental, um, I don’t know if they’d go that route. And do you want a to use a fourth round pick on a rental at this point, uh, where the Bears are at in terms of their, uh, their team feels a little rich. That’s why I think like a lesser move for like, you know, a pick swap or a sixth or seven, someone who can come in, rush the passer, 15 snaps a game, that feels more likely than a guy like Jaylen Phillips or Bradley Chub. All right, today’s show is sponsored by Brunt. The best working boots in the game can be found at bruntwworkware.com. Check it out today. Choosing work boots used to mean sacrificing comfort or durability. If they felt good, they didn’t last. And if they lasted, they wrecked your feet. But Brunt thought that was BS. So they built tough boots that feel great from day one. As a homeowner, there’s always projects around the house to work on. and Brunt boots are no doubt the most comfortable boots I have ever worn. They felt comfortable right out of the box. By the way, sometimes I buy sneakers that’s not the case. So, work boots. Got to love that. They’re not just comfortable, they’re built to perform. Whether you need waterproof, safety toe, soft toe, pull- on, or lace up, they’ve got options that can handle whatever job site you’re walking into. Before I found Brunt, can’t tell you how many different working boots I went through. I was always left with either foot pain or blisters, or they just didn’t last as long as I needed them to. Uh, Brunt does. They provide both comfort and durability. Right now, for a limited time, get $10 off at Brunt when you use code chat at checkout. That’s bruntwork.com. Use code chat, you’re good to go. Brunt was tired of the workware brands out there cutting corners. You work too hard to be stuck in uncomfortable boots that don’t hold up. So, they built something better. Boots that are insanely comfortable and built for any job site. So, for a limited time, once again, $10 off for our listeners at Brunt when you use code chat, chout. Brunt, that link is in the comments and description. Use code chat for $10 off. All right. Could the Bears trade with the Jets? We just talked about the Dolphins being a potential seller. Uh Rousini says that New York is getting calls on both Bree Hall uh and Germaine Johnson. We’ll start with Bree Hall and the run game aspect of this. Listen, two weeks ago, I would have said, “Yeah, let’s let’s jump on Brie Hall.” In fact, I said going into that Washington game out of the by-week, if they are not at least somewhat better running the football out of the buy, I I’d be scouring the running back market. But not only have they been better, they’ve literally been the best rushing attack in football in the last two weeks. Two games, but you go from one of the worst to arguably the best in two weeks. I don’t expect them to be the best all year now, but that’s that’s pretty notable to me. That tells me you found something that works. First in the NFL on yards per game. uh first in the NFL uh on percentage of carries that go five or more yards almost 55% first in the NFL on 10 plus yard runs percentage 26.4% 4% over a quarter of your runs going for 10 plus yards. Uh second in the NFL on percentage of carries almost 36% uh that either result in a first down or a touchdown. 3.57 yards before contact. You’re getting push up front. The scheme is working. That is first and even after contact 13th. That’s not a huge strength to DeAndre Swift, but he’s been better in that regard. Obviously Kyle Manungai has helped in that regard as well. I’ve said it a couple times now. I think this has been the best twoame stretch of DeAndre Swift’s Bears career. And a lot of that is a credit to this coaching staff, to the offensive line, but also Swift for being more decisive and uh you know, finding those cutback lanes and hitting the hole hard. Kyle Manungai breakout game. The splits between Swift and Mungai against the Saints were about 5545. I hope we get more of that 5545 6040 in favor of Swift. I do think he should be the slightly uh more played player on the field, but you know, for the first time, we saw the thunder and lightning. We saw the Bears version of what Ben Johnson had in Detroit. No one is saying this is Jir Gibbs and David Montgomery. But if we can have a poor man’s version of that, at least for this year, I think you got enough uh to get through this season. I’m passing on Bree Hall right now. Not because I don’t think he’s a good player, but I’m not using a draft pick on a running back who has an expiring contract when I’ve seen the production I have the last two weeks. Now, if it reverts back, if the next two games are ugly or if you suffer an injury, okay, we can have a discussion before November 4th. But right now, I’m not trading for a running back. So, I’m passing on Bree Hall. What about Germaine Johnson? So, kind of like Jaylen Phillips, he’s had his fifth year exercise. Now, that is next year. So, this is actually his fourth year. He’s coming off an injury from last year. Uh he’s got next year as well. If you could buy low on Germaine Johnson, this one actually probably intrigues me the most out of all the names Diana has mentioned. One, I’m not convinced it would cost a ton in trade. Maybe it’s like a fourth or a fifth. And two, you’ve got him through next year, so you don’t have to extend them. Like to me, if you trade for Jaylen Phillips, you almost have to extend him. Young ascending pass rusher. Jaylen Johnson or Germaine Johnson, excuse me, under contract through next year for the fifth year option, you could kind of play it out. Now, if it’s like a second or third round pick, I I’m not trading for Germaine Johnson. I I don’t know what he is moving forward. He’s kind of still working his way back, but former first round pick, we’ve seen him play really well in this league at times. Uh if you can get him for a fourth or a fifth, don’t have to pay him right now. I’m a little more interested in that because he could be a long-term piece, but it doesn’t have to be and you don’t have to break an arm and a leg. Fifth round pick for a year and a half of team control. I mean, that’s that’s not too bad. So, that would be more of an interest to me if they’re going to go down this route of a guy who’s young and ascending versus a rental option for cheap. Okay, pick and edge. We’ve just talked about three guys. Type JJ for Germaine Johnson, BC for Bradley Chub, JP for Jaylen Phillips. out of all these guys based on the contract and how much control you’d have. If it doesn’t cost a day one or a day two pick, wouldn’t be a first obviously, but as long as it’s not a second or third, I’d at least be open to the idea of Germaine Johnson from the Jets. Fourth, fifth round pick. If you can make that happen, uh, I could get on board with that idea. Okay. So, is a trade coming or not? That’s kind of all the relevant intel from Diana Rini when it comes to the Bears. Uh, in terms of players they could potentially be interested in. Uh Ryan Polls has made at least one trade at every trade deadline or before the deadline. Last year he only made the Khalil Herbert trade uh to Cincinnati for a seventh. So it was pretty quiet. I kind of wonder if it’s more the same. I don’t see a big move coming. I do think we’ll see a small or a mid move or moves coming. Maybe you trade out a low piece. maybe a Braxton Jones exits and maybe you bring in uh a guy uh to, you know, enter this rotation as a pass rusher to to provide depth at corner where you’ve been a little thin uh so far this season. Obviously, as we’re filming this, Tyreek’s a little banged up, but sounds like he won’t miss much if any time. Fingers crossed that’s the case. But I I see like a move along the the ed the margins as they say. I I I don’t think that I don’t think a Montes sweat level trades coming. I don’t think they take a swing for a guy like a Chase Clayool. Uh I think it’s a small level move if it comes uh and they kind of roll with what they got. And depending on how this year goes, maybe the off season is a time where they would explore a major move uh in terms of trading guys out or trading guys in. But I think for the most part, this team is this team for 2025. All right, there you go. We’ll continue to monitor the trade market uh and any buzz that is out there, especially when it’s relevant for the Chicago Bears. of course, day-to-day updates with the current team, injury updates, game previews. We’ll take your mailbag questions, do all that stuff like we always do. So, hit that subscribe button, turn on notifications, and bear down. All right, Stephen, draft reports. Accuracy under pressure is an issue. Talking about Caleb, well, he was actually much better uh when blitz yesterday than not. So, um yeah, I think that’s actually been an area of growth this year. But, uh, yeah, I I don’t know. I thought I’d have to go back and look at those metrics. But, in general, accuracy was not a problem in college. Of course, it wasn’t perfect. I mean, um, you know, no one’s confusing him with like Colt McCoy back in the day, completing 78% of his throws, but Caleb was also chucking the ball a lot downfield. So, um, it was not a major talking point when he was coming out. Uh, him being an inaccurate passer. Maybe not perfect, but not not low 60s. I mean, that’s I think that’s been the biggest surprise uh out of everything early on in his career. Um, yeah, Tyler Lockett got a comment there. No, I was just agreeing. I Oh, really? Are they Locket got released? They did cut him. Yep. It was to be expected. Uh, no. Yeah, bring him back to Seattle. I wouldn’t mind it on a little uh chief veteran. I to be honest, it felt wrong cutting him in the first place, but obviously you weren’t going to pay him the money that he was making. So, what’s their their group? I mean, obviously Cups, the two JSN, Tory Horton. You throw him in that group to play 15 snaps a game. Wouldn’t hate it. Wouldn’t hate it. I I also wouldn’t rule out a uh Pete Carol reunion in Las Vegas either. I think those are the two most The only reason I wouldn’t think so is because like I assume part of this is the Titans aren’t going anywhere. The Raiders aren’t going anywhere. I I get the P part of it, but like if I’m locking, I’m signing with a contender. That’s fair. Or I’m going back to Seattle who also looks like a contender. Yep. So, um, love it if he came back. Trying to think who else could make sense for him. Like, I mean, any receiver needy team, I’m sure. That’s what I’m I’m trying to like would Pittsburgh sign him. Does he really block? He’s kind of a finesse player. He’s a guy that is avoiding Patriots kind of a QB friendly guy. Maybe he wants to go to New England. Bills, they have 19 wide receiver threes and fours. Why not add another one? Another one. Um to me he’s coming in as like he realized at this point in his career he’s not what he once was. He’s a role player. He’s a So yeah, why would you go join a bunch of other role play again? Maybe you know if he wants to ring chase. Well that’s got to be a big part of this Tennessee thing. It’s like I think just that offense has been so atrocious he wants to get out of there. Well yes, but also but yeah if they were four and three and had some offensive issues I don’t know if he’s asking out. Maybe not. But maybe not. Is that it? We caught up. We’re caught up. All right, Tyler Lockett. We’ll see. I’m guessing someone will sign him. Yeah, someone will sign him. Um, all right. You want to come? He also might wait out until the trade deadline passes. Wait for some move there. Very, very possible. Um, sorry, what were you saying? No, I was going to say you want to tell Oh, yeah, guys. Best water in the game. How water. You ever heard of it? you need to 10% off code chat sports. Colin’s getting the link in the chat. This is hyper pure oxygenated water. And you know, the great thing about this is like you said, you know, you just put the cap back on and it maintains its kind of freshness. I mean, it’s just it drink it drinks smoother. It’s just it’s just a good looking bottle, too. I’m an aesthetics guy. So, um there you go. All right. Go check those guys out. We appreciate it. Uh I know they do as well. 1. This could be a statement game from caleb, ravens passing defense isn’t great and need to silence the haters form last week. Only bears fans can complain about winning by double digits because the qb didn’t have a good game. Rome dropped a couple balls too.
