If you’d told me in the offseason we’d be half a game ahead of the Ravens at this point, I think I’d have felt a lot better about this season then I actually do, despite that being true.
Honestly, though, I don’t think we’re a bottom 5 team. We’re clearly not a top 5 or even top 10 team, but we’ve played everyone close, and four of our losses have come to a 6-1 colts team, 5-2 niners, 5-2 seahawks, 4-1-1 Packers. We deserve all the shame we got and continue to get for finding a way to lose that Titans game but make no mistake, we lost it, they didn’t win it. And of our two wins, one of them was against the Panthers who are 4-2 against the rest of the league, and if not for a fluke onside kick, it wouldn’t have even been as close as it was.
At the end of the day, losses are losses, again I’m not saying we’re a secretly good team, good teams don’t lose that Titans game, but as far as 2-5 teams go, this is one of the strongest and I would not be shocked if we were the source of a lot of upsets the rest of the way, as our record combined with our talent makes us everyone’s trap game.
The fact we keep blowing it in the 4th quarter and are losing close games is in some ways worse than getting blown out.
I was quietly confident coming into the season but not even halfway in we’re way behind the other 3 in the division and bottom, again.
Given what the other 3 NFC West teams have to work with and their records vs ours, it’s obvious that coaching is the number one issue with the Cardinals.
