AI had one of the highest motors in league history.
He was also light on his feet, played in an era with a slow pace, and never had a significant lower body or back injury.
I appreciate him for all of that, but his situation was pretty unique
Fatigue?! Thems army clothes.
A game?! We’re talking about a game…not practice
It sucks that alot of his highlights are still in Non-HD. I was hoping AI software would’ve corrected this by now
I love his heart but load management happens because it makes these players more effective, especially in the playoffs. Players don’t decide to load manage because they’re “lazy bums” or “pussies”. Nobody plays 40 minutes a game either for that reason.
Sure, then AI just *unexpectedly* crashed at 33 years old, and a year later he was out of the league. Meanwhile, guys like KD, Curry, LeMickey, and Chris Paul can play into their late 30s and 40s at high levels.
I still love the story about the training staff hiding his Jerseys to try to keep him off the court when injured and AI going to a Nike Store in NYC to buy a replica to wear for the game. The don’t make them like that anymore.
Remember when the NBA had integrity. I member.
He missed a lot of games in Philly.
And there was a couple of years where he skipped the last home game of the season – fan appreciation night
This is clearly ai
THIS is why I love A I
“how is me practicing going to make the team better”
One of the best quotes ever
I agree with what he’s saying, but ironically teams already barely practice during the season now. At least that’s what I seem to hear.
Every once in awhile they get 2 days off in a row where they can get a good practice in. 3 days in a row off maybe once or twice a season, outside of all star break.
Idk what their day to day schedule was like back then or what kind of practices they’d do in season. But yeah not that much to skip, they do shoot rounds, lifts etc and that’s all based on exercise science stuff
I love AI and he was a real warrior out there. He also had one good season after he turned 30 and his body basically broke down by the time he was 33. So I dunno if he’s a great person to listen to when it comes to NBA longevity.
we talkin about practice? practice practice practice practice practice practice practice practice practice practice practice practice practice practice practice practice practice practice practice practice
I mean, that’s also why he only ended up playing for like 13 years.
And I personally appreciate that we’ve seen more than 3 years of Joel embiid play but hey that’s just me
Wasn’t his career cut way too short? Probably could’ve used some load management.
