Leafs making MOVES… Berube Reveals MASTER PLAN | Toronto Maple Leafs News

This is exactly what the Leafs needed as we have multiple huge Leafs updates to go over today as Breway continues to make moves to the lineup. But not only that, Craig Brew’s master plan has been revealed surrounding not only the lineup, but the team in general. We also have a bunch of comments from the players following Anthony Stler’s calling out the team. You’re going to want to stay tuned to the end because some of them are very juicy. A ton to go over on this episode, but before we get into it all, if you’re part of the 70 or so% who aren’t subscribed to the channel, this is a place to be for daily Leafs content. Your guys support has been unbelievable. There’s a lot to go over today. Of course, the Leafs play this evening against Sheldon Keef and the New Jersey Devils. And the Jays obviously have taken over Toronto, but the Leafs are still playing games and there’s a lot of updates, a lot of moves that are happening. And let’s dive right into it because there is actually a lot to go over here. And the Leafs do need to get back on track following their pretty rough loss against the Kraken the other night. So, let’s start with this. And there’s a you’re going want to stay tuned for the end of this one because there’s a lot to go over. Let’s start with this. Anthony Solers projects to get the start in goal for the Leafs tonight. So, he is playing, but more notably, this will be his third game in a row between the pipes and his sixth of the Leafs six start in the first seven games to begin the season. Obviously, they probably don’t have a ton of trust in in Kaden Primo. This isn’t a 1A 1B situation. No update on Joseph Wall yet. I mean, that’s obviously a conversation for a different day here, but it is confirmed as well that Sammy Bla, Een Cowan, and Philip Meyer are scratched tonight. So, a lot of interesting things here. And as you look at the lines again, you see Stallers. We’ll see how him his body holds up if it catches up to him at some point in the season. But these are the lines that are rocking tonight. And these are honestly the lines that we looked at the start of the season and said, “Okay, this would have made the most sense probably maybe aside from Ken being in there.” And it’s funny how after six or so games, it all comes back to this with Domi on the uh on the first line. Yeah. And there’s a lot of storylines heading into tonight. Obviously, Blue Jays Fever has taken over Toronto. A lot of the Leafs spoke out about that. We’ll get to that later in the episode as well. But obviously the return of Sheldon Keefe once again with the New Jersey Devils. They’re a hungry team and they’re playing really well. They’re coming in on a hot streak as well. So it’s going to be a big challenge for the Leafs tonight to show that Saturday is not the identity of this team. They need to get back on track tonight. And like you mentioned Anthony Stolars, you know, starting six of seven so far to start the season. So the trust not necessarily there with Kaden Primo. But at the same time, you know, you’re trying to see what you have in Anthony Stolars in terms of giving him as many games as possible. Is he actually a starting goalender in this league that can play 50 55 games, 60 games, something like that? So, we’re going to find out. And he has been good so far this season. No issues there whatsoever. So, obviously the other big thing to get to, like you mentioned as well, Eastston Cowan not playing tonight. He’s been scratched and we’ve been talking about if you’re going to scratch him, send him down to the Marlies, have him play top six minutes and all of these things. But, I think this could be useful for him to take this opportunity, watch in the press box, see things, and that helps a lot of players. And there’s a lot of young players around the league like a Logan Mayu in St. Louis as well that this exact thing is happening as well. So I don’t necessarily hate it as long as they’re going to use them again and fairly soon. And they have a backto-back coming up this weekend as well with u you know obviously Buffalo and both games are on nights that the Blue Jays play of course uh had to work out that way but you know I I would believe that they’re going to utilize Eastn Cowan again there. So it’s going to be interesting to see what they do the rest of the way. But a lot of uh musical chairs so far to start the season and the lineup looks different yet again. And you have a fourthline center tonight that isn’t even a natural center. So that’ll be very interesting to see how this one goes down tonight. Yeah, obviously you have Loren starting at fourthline center domy on the wing. I’m excited to see how that works out. Of course, second linear Neander W Joshua and McMahon should be pretty good there. And I’m curious to see also how Nick Robertson is in the fourth line. Some reports from Freeman have been dropping lately. And of course you Darren Jr. all these guys they’re trying to offload Nick Robertson. It just hasn’t happened quite yet. And a few other things here. So Craig Breub revealed kind of their master plan you’re going forward with Cowan but also of course with team in general and he spoke out in East and Cowan being out of the lineup. I just think he needs a reset a game to watch. Cowan’s in a good spot. So this doesn’t seem like a thing for Cowan where he’s going to be sent down to the Marlies because he’s out tonight. It seems like he just wants to give him a spot on the bench and put in some more experienced veterans. Whether that be Cali Arnro who was scratched or scratched sorry the previous game of course he has three goals. So let us know down below what your thoughts are on this. Again, the lineup very uh it’s been it’s changed a lot. The only thing that remains the same is the goalender and the blue line. So, a little bit crazy there. But let’s also dive into some of the comments that dropped last night from the team about Anthony Stler’s big call out and uh you know, kind of blasting the team. He said, “We’re a veteran group. We’re all big boys. You don’t need to beat around the bush. It’s an easy conversation we had and you just move on. Close the door. We got to be better and we will be.” So, it seems that no one’s really upset with what Anthony Stallers had to say. I think the only person who even remotely said in in a negative light was, you know, Craig Rubate, but not really negative. He just said he’d prefer to keep that behind closed doors. I wouldn’t personally at this point. I’m fine with Stallers calling him out. They’ve played very lazy, uninspired hockey. William Milander saying it’s all good. We’re teammates. He’s a great guy. And of course, he talked to me after and it’s all good. It’s been no issue since. Obviously, this is the benefit of having a veteran team. This will not carry into tonight’s game. If anything, it’ll be a positive thing going forward. There won’t be any negativity carried in. any thoughts of some of the comments from I guess your two stars here and the two people he probably called out the most even though it was indirectly installers um regarding Matthews and Neander. Yeah, like you said, at this point it is a veteran team. Austin Matthews, William Neander, when stuff like this happens, you have to take it off the chin and do something about it. Like, show us some actions, right? And I I do understand why Breway was saying, you know, he didn’t really like it because he wants this stuff to stay behind closed doors and the organization would rather stuff like this stay behind closed doors. And make no mistake about it, this stuff happens all the time, especially with this team. Matthew Niser speaking about that on the 32 thoughts podcast as well that he said he’s not the most vocal guy but there are guys in that room that will come up to you and tell you when you’re not playing well and and make it be known within uh you know the dressing room. So that stuff definitely happens. But I think it was you know a good thing for the fan base to be like okay at least the goalender and a guy who’s been there and done that sees it and he’s calling out the top guys for the effort. It’s not anything else. It’s the effort. Please start outworking other teams. We know that the skill is there but if you’re not working hard for it you’re not going to win in this league. So, uh, again, we’re just a couple games into the season, but it’s the same thing over and over again. Don’t let that become the identity of this team because a lot of people are already talking about that. So, I like it from Stallars. I I like what they said yesterday as well. There’s no issues here. They handle, you know, behind closed doors. They talked about it, I’m sure. And, you know, hopefully they come out flying tonight because they’re going to need to or else this will carry this narrative for a little while. So, it’ll be interesting for sure. But, uh, yeah, the city’s on fire right now. Obviously the blue jay you know blue jay’s taken over the city and I think that the leafs can kind of use that as momentum too to kind of get back on track here as well. One thing quickly solar spoken knander also obviously knander spoken solar is here but solar spoken and said I pull aside we had a conversation they obviously everyone respects each other in that room at this point so I don’t think there’s too much like you mentioned to go over here anymore with that and the power play units remain the same. However, you mentioned the Blue Jays and some of the conversations that have been had around the team. Obviously, Brew started his press conference with how about those Blue Jays. A lot of Leafs fans out there want that to happen. We all do, right? To happen with their own team, which in our case is the Toronto Maple Leafs. Those are some interesting comments from Sheldon Keefe, someone who was in Toronto for a very long time and didn’t really help the Leafs get to where they wanted to be. But he said he expects a motivated opponent from my time here. Anytime something like that happens, the Leafs come out with great effort. So, a lot of different things here. Will at least be riding a high from the Jays? It’s very possible. Again, the players were speaking out a lot about it. Obviously, Craig Buru was speaking out a lot about it. And even putting aside, we assume the city’s going to be buzzing. Could be some Let’s Go Jays chancing arena or something crazy like that. It’s Sheldon Keefe. They’re playing against someone who they obviously have extra motivation for as well, being the former coach of the uh of the team. Yeah, obviously Sheldon Keefe has already returned. We already had that moment last season, but still it’s your former head coach. He knows some of these guys very well. So, there’s a story line there. But yeah, the arena should be pretty electric tonight. Everyone’s in a very good mood around the city. The Jays are headed to the World Series. And you know, maybe that takes a little bit of the pressure off the Leafs, too, so they can get in there, get the job done tonight. But the one thing I think all Leaf fans are looking forward to tonight is the effort and what type of level that they’re bringing in terms of that because, you know, there’s no Blue Jays to distract anyone tonight, right? Like there we’ll pick that up on Friday. Like everyone’s watching the Leafs again tonight. So, uh, you got to bring the effort. That’s it. Everyone knows that the skill is there. have that given F meter be really really high. So we’ll see what they end up doing tonight with these new lines and obviously the first game back since Stolars called out the team. So let us know down below what your thoughts are. Thank you guys for watching. S there.

  1. Since 2016 the Leafs have been "SOFT" as butter! Adding size and heaviness "DOES NOT" equate to "TOUGHNESS." Still waiting for the DNA change, on the teams roster.

  2. I usually wouldnt be so concerned this early in a season, but they really haven't look good… no sustained pressure in any game, defensive lapses giving up a lot of 2 on 1s, and just generally outworked most nights, except maybe 1 game. It takes time for guys to gel, but shouldn't take time to look like they give a sh*t.
