New Orleans Saints 2026 NFL Mock Draft 1.0

[Music] Mockdraft 1.0. It is October and it feels like the Saints season is over. So, we’re going to go ahead and start the draft discussion. For what it’s worth, we’re not doing any trades. It’s the first one. Let’s just do it straight up and have it be super simple, super easy. New Orleans currently has five picks, no fourth or seventh round selections. And I do think that the Saints are a team that could end up trading back. I am not doing that in this one, but I do think that that is a very realistic option. So, in the future, be on the lookout because we definitely will do some of those. Now, who should the New Orleans Saints draft number three overall right here, right now in the end of October after week seven? The Saints are slotted with a third overall pick. Let me know who they should draft in the comments section. First round pick. We’re going to go ahead and give us a defensive playmaker. I went with Ruben Bane Jr. Fernando Mendoza and Caleb DS were both selected, so I went with the best defensive player on the board and I needed an edge rusher. I’m tired of almost sachs. I’m tired of close to good defensive line production. I’m tired of opposing offenses bullying us in the trenches. So, I went with Ruben Bane Jr. And I know that he only has two sacks, but he has 30 pressures on the year. And he’s somebody who’s really good as an edge rusher and getting to the quarterback, but he’s also a really, really nice r pass uh excuse me, a run defender as well. I think that he’s similar to a Brandon Graham type guy. He’s not somebody like Miles Garrett who’s going to have the long arms and be able to dominate, but he is somebody who likes to have the contact be close and likes to just win right there. And I do think when it comes to the defensive line in New Orleans, the Saints need a massive upgrade. And and and I know that you paid Chase Young this off seasonason. And so for me, you have to bring in somebody to play alongside Chase Young. And that’s not a slide on Carl Granderson, but if you have the opportunity to raise the overall talent level, you should. And especially with a third overall pick, you need to take a premium player if you’re not going to trade back. And in this situation, we didn’t trade back. So I went with the best defensive player on the board. And I think Ruben Bane Jr. would be a massive, massive upgrade and provide a huge boost to the defense. Now, let’s go to round two. Number 35 overall, I needed a pass catcher and I needed somebody who can help this offense be a little bit more explosive. I think that he could slide in really nice with next to Chris, Elijah Serret out of Indiana. He’s a player who’s been really, really good getting the passes from Fernando Mendoza. 43 catches, over 600 yards, nine touchdowns already this season. And I don’t think that the New Orleans Saints need to be picky when it comes to drafting wide receivers. Last off season, the conversation was we need a big body guy. We need an alpha. We need somebody like that. And I I totally still agree with those opinions, but at the end of the day, you need playmakers. You need guys who will take over the game. And you need dudes. Quite frankly, the Saints offense lacks firepower. And for Elijah Serret, he’s mostly a slot guy, but I think having a slot specialist would be pretty nice. Um, he’s big, he’s physical, he can run, he’s somebody who I believe could provide a spark and be a nice compliment to what’s already on the roster. And the Saints need to prioritize adding offensive weapons. It’s not just a wide receiver, a tight end now running back that since Kendry Miller is going to be out for the season, you don’t know what’s going to happen there. Alvin Chimera is going to be on the way out at some point. Like, you need to go and get playmakers. You need to go and get weapons. You need to go and get dudes. You need to bring in players who will add firepower and explosiveness to this offense. This team struggles to finish drives. This team struggles to create big plays. And I think that adding a player like Elijah Serret could do uh or could help both of those things. Now, if you want more mock drafts, we are still very very far away from April, but if we can do more, you just got to let me know by hitting the sub button. And if you get in the comment section and like, you know, just let me know. I will see those comments and I will directly respond to you. and I will make sure that you are satisfied with the content. So, if you want more content just like this, the draft is a long ways away, but we’re going to be covering it in depth because the Saints will have a prime selection. Hit the sub button, lock us in for free. Now, I want to add in some more offensive juice. I went to the tight end position, Eli Sters. I’m really, really impressed with this player. One of the lead weapons in Vanderbilt for Diego Pavia. I think when it comes to the tight end position, I am very frustrated. It’s an underrated need in my personal opinion for New Orleans and I think that the Saints need to bring in some tight end power firepower. You drafted Maliki Matavo in the seventh round. Awesome. This is not even on the active roster. It’s not not trying to knock him, but those are the facts. Let’s go and get a proven playmaker. Let’s go and bring in somebody who can work in Kell Moore’s system really, really well because the tight end position has been heavily leaned on in Kell Moore’s offenses, but it’s not really getting maximized right now. And I got more to say about this mock draft and a couple more picks to get to. But really, first or really quickly, I want to tell you guys about today’s presenting sponsor, and that is Pri. Shout out to prize picks where it’s good to be right. Now, Eli Sters is somebody that I think the Saints could definitely benefit from adding. Joan Johnson, I have been a supporter. I have been a defender. I am off the hype train. He’s not I’m good. I don’t want any more of that. I want somebody who’s going to be a red zone threat. I want somebody who’s going to be a receiving threat. I want somebody who’s going to make my offense better. I want ballers. I want playmakers. I don’t want Tik Tok stars. Sorry. I mean, I just think it’s so soft, too, when you’re down by 20. You don’t even get the first down. Walking over to a Bears defender and flexing on them. Are you kidding me? Come on, man. Like, sure, you got to have some juice. You got to bring some energy. Even when you’re down by 20, you got to do something. That just like wasn’t I’m so over it with Jawan Johnson. Maybe I’m getting a little annoyed, but I I I just I’m frustrated with the situation that the Saints have in the tight end room right now. They didn’t address it until the seventh round of the draft. You have Jawan Johnson, you have Foster Morrow, and I do like Foster Morrow a lot, but he just returned from injury. And looking at the depth chart, Taesm Hill, he’s not necessarily a tight end. He’s a joker. He does everything. Jack Stole, he’s been getting some run, but again, you can elevate and increase the talent level, raise the talent in the tight end room. And if that means you got to cut or trade Jawan Johnson in the offseason, so freaking be it. That means Foster Morrow gets moved up to tight end one until whoever it is has or is ready to go, so be. I don’t really care. I just want to maximize his position. And this is an area where the Saints are severely lacking and not getting nearly enough production. Jaden Roberts, I want to uh I want to address the trenches here. Obviously, the interior offensive line has been a huge issue for the New Orleans Saints. They need an upgrade. They need a facelift. And that’s kind of the theme here. Saints have a lot of needs. And I think that you really can’t be picky. Take what you can get. Take good players and address the holes on your roster. Jaden Roberts, no sacks allowed this year. 66.3 overall PFF grade. Look, you got to address the interior offensive line. Trevor Penning and Caesar Ruiz, they’re very frustrating players. Like that’s the best way that I could describe it. They are frustrating players. And quite frankly, Caesar Ruiz had one good season or one half of a good season and that’s why he got his extension. Trevor Penning, I could see the Saints just letting him walk in free agency. And so you’re going to need a guard. Dylan Reigns is around. Torsilly Simpkins I like, but he’s a UDFA and he needs more time to develop. He needs more time to grow. So for Simpkins, I like the future there. I think that he’s a nice option, but I think that you can bring in some quality competition to compete with him, at least for depth to raise the depth level and or raise the depth talent and also potentially have a starter. The interior offensive line has been a huge issue for the New Orleans Saints. It’s no mystery whatsoever. The run game has suffered. Uh you’ve seen a lot of pressures from right up the middle uh on Spencer Rattler when he’s trying to throw and the interior offensive line needs to be better. Just that’s that’s plain and simple. went ahead and grabbed a nice guard at Alabama in Jaden Roberts. Let’s go to my last pick. Round six, number 181 overall, Bud Clark, the safety out of TCU, Louisiana native. He’s mostly a slot guy and he’s somebody who if the New Orleans Saints want to move off of Alante Taylor, whether they want to let him walk in free agency, they want to trade him, whether if they need to address and replace Alante Taylor, this is a player who could do that. Um, career-wise, 13 total interceptions, 19 pass breakups, one forced fumble, 31 tackles this year, two interceptions already for the Horn Frogs. And I know that TCU isn’t some barn burner of a college football team. But look, in the sixth round, if you can bring in a player that is a ball hawk and somebody who can really help shore up the inside of your defensive line or interior of your defense, especially as a corner. I think that that would be awesome. And in terms of the other safeties in the room, I know we’re talking about replacing Alante Taylor. Ugo Amadi is also in that slot corner role as a backup, but again, use upgrades there. Yonas Sanker, I really like Jordan Howen. I like Derrell Burgess. He’s some nice depth there. Justin Reed kind of been underwhelming. But overall, the safeties, they need some extra depth. They need some extra juice. And I know that uh Bud Clark is mostly a slot guy, but you need to add a running mate to Yonas Sinker. Like it doesn’t matter who it is. There’s a lot of different guys on the board. I could have gone a lot of different ways, but in the sixth round, Bud Clark was one of the most appealing options. So, I went ahead and took him to challenge Alante Taylor. All in all, you do need to add in a running mate for Yonas Sinker because he’s proving to be a really good player. You need to bring in somebody who can help him out. And I think that the future’s really bright in the safety position if you can add some more depth. I would have liked to go get Kaylin DS here. It wasn’t available. Handful other players I would have liked to grab. They weren’t available because I went elsewhere. Now, here’s my mockdraft 1.0. Just a quick recap. Ruben Bane Jr. number three overall. We’re getting some offensive juice with Elijah Serret and Eli Sters. And then we’re going to shore up the trenches with Jaden Roberts replacing Caesar Ruiz or Trevor Penning. And then Bud Clark. He’s going to be a safety that we bring in to add some depth, add some talent to Brandon Staley’s defense. Grade my mockdraft 1.0, A, B, C, D, or F. Let me know what you think in the comment section. 1. I like a lot fo these picks. Rubein bain is nice. I had stowers and roberts in some of mine. But here is mine. We trade the pick weather it is 1-3 to the LA Rams so the can get ty simpson or dante moore to sit behind stafford for a year and eventually they can become staffords successor and the rams ca compete for another 10 years. They givea haul though and give 15,21,43 and their 2027 1st. We also trade pete werner, alonte, dillion at the deadline and stack picks. Now here is my mock draft

    15-arvell reese
    21-love or tyson
    33-mansoor delane or will lee
43-chris bell if we draft love and nick singleton if we draft tyson (singleton can be later and we draft harold perkins in this spot if he rises)
50 via trade up (i can tell details if you want)-harold or singleton)
    83-jack endries
    122-zion young
    145-zane durant
    183-Michael taffe or bud Clark.

I freed us to have 79 million in cap so we signed

    Elija vera tucker
    Devin lloyd
    Martin emmerson
    Shaheed
    Taysom
    Will clapp
    Stalbird
    Travis jones
    Cody ford
    Luke wattenburg
    Dontatvion wicks

So we filled mos of the holes on our team snd added depth along with 60+ million in cap the next season and 2 firsts

  2. Come on dude how do you say iam tired of almost sacks then say we should take a guy with high pressure rate but only 2 sacks that sounds like a whole Lotta almost sacks smh

  3. Need to take Pavia out of Vandy, im over thinking about Arch coming to New Orleans. I dont even think Arch comes out this year with the way he playing

  4. This was an ok draft the middle 2 picks amazing hit after hit but we need a true elite leader at qb go get one if you’re picking as high as 3rd overall im not ok with bottom 5 qb play and for the last pick go get a rb if you can’t land some really good free agents this year this draft will be impossible an that’s because Mickey loomis traded half our picks away from bums (besides vele) but they aren’t even using vele

  5. The problem with the Saints and drafting is they only get guys that are good enough but have versatility instead of getting great players period. I don’t give a shit about versatile I want playmakers

  6. Bro…..you're tired of almost sacks and you burn the 3rd pick on a guy that has digressed from a top 20 DE as a freshman to a bottom 10 as a junior? Bain is another middling DE. We already have a roster full of them. Hos best games are against FCS teams. He's shown nothing against top-tier teams/talent. If you're our GM, just trade the 3 for the next 4 years of 7 rounders. At least that's a better deal than drafting Bain.

  7. Saints recent history at edge is too weak. Micky Loomis and a Jeff Ireland haven’t picked well here. Bring in free agent edge rushers that are proven.

  8. Receiver is actually more tricky than it seems, you have bub means and Jalynn Polk returning after the season, you can't really get rid of Vele so is shaheed out, are you going to have a veteran on the roster? It's Olave, Shaheed, Polk, Bub, Vele so what do you do at that last spot another young guy. I think moving on from Shaheed makes the most sense, bring in a free agent veteran in his place and drafting another young guy.

  9. Hold up bro, we have a qb? U saying spencer is our future? Because we haven't even seen tyler yet. With that being said, unless u have a qb, u ain't winning shit. Spencer doesn't seem to be that guy and tyler could be a wash.
