This has SERIOUS Implications for The Pelicans…
This has serious implications for the Pelicans as their first two preseason games will determine whether or not this team is going to be playoff ready or going to be one of the bottom feeders as a lot of people are predicting. We’re going to talk about the Bellicas matchup against the Houston Rockets tonight and more inside this edition of Bellicus Digest. What’s good with it y’all? It’s your people Mel on the mic. Back once again inside Bellicus Digest is Mel’s talking about them bells. And thank you once again for subscribing and also liking the channel and sharing uh Pelicans Digest with your fellow Pelicans fans, man. You bought the percentages that ain’t watching or or just watching and ain’t subscribing. Go ahead, hit that subscribe button, baby. This is where you get the best analysis and more about the New Orleans Pelicans. And I’ve been gone for the last few days. Actually was in New Orleans. That’s where I was at. uh all throughout this weekend, the last few days came went down to New Orleans actually to try to be in attendance for the Pelicans open practice back to basketball event uh that went down uh last uh Friday night. And then I had some car problems cuz the rental car company I rented a car from gave me a piece of crap and I end up being on the side of the road somewhere around Nagadis, Louisiana. And then uh had to uh get some help. got may end up getting to the open practice with about 30 minutes left in the the the whole thing and uh got to see uh uh some three-point contest and some other things as well. Uh and big shout out real quick. I want to shout out my man AJ and Nola Jason, man. Big shout out to the to the fellas, man. They they uh showed love about the podcast. Thank you for subscribing two subscribers to the podcast. uh and also got on camera for a quick second and uh asked them their thoughts about the team and stuff like that. I’m going to put that out in a short here in the next couple of days. But big shout out to AJ and Nola Jason, man. Appreciate y’all showing me love, showing Pelicus Digest love while we was out there at open practice. And uh you know, no, practice was fun. You know, it it was a lot of fun. Can’t can’t even run on that. It was something for the fans and something for the kids. Uh actually uh saw Herb Jones sign an autograph. also uh got to uh see Jos Alvarado and actually asked him a question about uh the whole uh his injury that took place in uh Australia when he went down with his ankle injury. He said he’s all good. He’s ready to go. He’s going to be in action uh more than likely tonight in Birmingham and also he’s going to be ready uh for opening night. So uh that was good news to hear and also to hear from him. Uh but also good vibes all around, man. Just good vibes all around being around fellow Pelicans fans, feeling good about the team, looking forward to the season, and hopefully uh and also as the Saints fans start to get off the train over there. They’re starting to get off the train over there. I’m starting to see on the social medias all the Saints fans coming in talking about, man, Bell’s got to give the city hope now. So, uh they starting to come on over. So, come on over, hit the subscribe button. We’ll keep you updated on what’s going on with the Pelicans here on Pelicans Digest. Uh but lots of fun being in the city this weekend, man. And uh now the Pelicans are getting ready to finally finally face up against some NBA competition uh in the breeeason. And they’re going against some top of the line competition, one of the best teams more than likely is probably going to be in my opinion if anything probably if not the one or two seed in the Western Conference uh this coming season. Uh and they had probably made one of the biggest upgrades of the all season. Uh added a player to a team that was already rising with young talent already. Uh but fill the hole with with possibly the best scorer or one of the best scorers in the game in Kevin Durant. And I’m talking about the Houston Rockets. Pelicans face up against the Rockets tonight starting at 700 p.m. Central in Birmingham as another part of the uh preseason. Uh, and again, man, here’s and I I did uh a bunch of uh preview videos about The Division, and I never got to do one about the Rockets. And one of the reasons why I got done because it we’ve been so positive on this page about and on this channel about this podcast about this Bellicus team. But at the same time, let me be real here. The Rockets look as good as advertised, man. I mean, they look damn good. They’re scary good, and I can’t even front on that. Uh, according to uh Sports Illustrated, their offense has look stellar both with and without Kevin Durant. Uh, as they’re averaging 130 points through two contest, 51% overall shooting. Uh Durant has galvanized the team scoring bunch by offering his skill set singularly as well as taking burial of his co-stars in uh Alfred Sigin and Aean Thompson as well as the rest of the Rockets deep rotation. And you know again that’s why I I I didn’t really want to do a preview video on them because I don’t see how the Pelicans can beat this team. This team has had our number. They swept us last season and it goes all the way back to the even 49 win season. This team has has has owned us and and and you know and and has owners in every single way from offense to defense to even the coaching you know you know I’m I’m a big doker fan cuz I’m a firm believer that guys like that who will probably more than likely you know has some questionable qualities still know how to coach and win. So, uh, but at the same time, they have gotten so much better with everything that they added and then they filled the hole with Kevin Durant essentially. Uh, so there’s going to be some interesting things to watch for tonight. And and so I’m not going to get too hung up on winning or losing this game. I’m not gonna get too hung up on winning or losing this game against the Rockets. Okay? Not gonna get too hung up on that. What I’m going to be looking for is certain things with this Wellus team that they can do to at least let me see something that could give me some positivity and some hope that not only can they beat this team but but also uh show that they’re capable of being, you know, around the playoffs teams and around some of the best in the Western Conference. But again, it’s going to be tough because again, you’re adding KD to a team that was already in the top 12 in offensive rating last season and they’re going to put a test on Herb Jones and the rest of the Bellicans uh uh defense this season and I was going to come back to that about Herb uh because I’m quite sure Herb was going to get the start tonight uh because this is his homecoming. He’s from Alabama. This is sort of uh his thing, his hometown. not his hometown, but his home state. So, a lot of fans are going to come out there and come root for him and and cheer him on. So, I’m quite sure her probably going to get the start. My concern I’m I’m starting to get this concern now that they might be bringing Herb off the bench to start the season. I’m starting to get this concern and I don’t know why. I I I just don’t know why. I I I can’t really tell you. I don’t know. was the Sadique Bay scoring in Australia situation or the the the talk that Sadi Bay is is is so knowledgeable in basketball and and all these other N and I’m starting to get nervous that they might put Herb on the on the bench and make him come on with this second unit. But at the same time, I would like to see how Herb uh works if he is starting tonight that is uh works in this system and and continues to to shine and let and let Herb get his chance to shine. I think he’s earned the right to be the starter. Uh, you paid him the money, but maybe you paid him to tell him, maybe Joe Dumas pays him and tells him, “Hey, we’re going to give you some more money. Just chill. We going to give you some more money just to chill.” And so I that’s what I’m starting to get nervous about. But that’s one of the things I’m going to be looking for tonight is can the Pelicans and their def and can what kind of defense are we gonna be looking at with the Pelicans tonight? What kind of defense are we looking at tonight? What kind of rotations and sets are we going to have to try to slow these guys down? Because again, I I again I I don’t care if they win or lose this game. This is preseason. No need to panic if they do. But this could have serious implications from the factor of you got to be able to see what is going to work against this team because this is going to be the cream of the cream of the of the Western top the top the top of the Western Conference. the creme de la creme, homie, if you will. So, it’s it’s gonna I I want to see what kind of defense sets we gonna have on that. What kind of defense we gonna have. Is Missy gonna get the start? Is is are we still going to go with Looney? What is for the purposes of offense? What what what are we going to be looking at tonight? Also interested to see what the second unit is going to do because again, this rock this Rockets team is deep as well. This Rockets team has depth and they’re deep as well. But again, one of the areas that the Pelicans haven’t improved at is their depth and and and and their bench and the second line and maybe even the third line. So, I would like to see uh how those guys perform in this particular game if PE is going to get some minutes. Alvarado uh how you want to set that up. I’m going to be I’m interested in seeing that. So, those are the couple of things that I’m looking forward to to the game tonight. We’ll jump back on again tomorrow and see uh how things turned out. But I’m going just give you 100 which I don’t see honestly it I have been sort of thinking that the outside of the Rockets I think this Pelicans team can split a lot of the series with the teams in division. I think they can split a lot of the series with the teams in the division. other teams, the Spurs, uh, uh, Dallas and Memphis, but I don’t see us with hanging with the Rockets. I just don’t I just don’t unless Unless Willie and and the guys get together and figure out what defense has said is going to work best and what kind of rotation, who who who what does that look like on the floor? Do you do you go with with E Missy and sacrifice maybe some scoring for rent protection? Uh do you go with the longer lengthy long the longer guys as far as the the wingspan guys and like maybe a her and a Trey uh and or maybe even a bay. I mean which lineup would you go with? Like this is this is going to be good to watch, man. as us as as as far as if you know ball and you want to pay attention to ball. This is a very intriguing matchup in my opinion. What are your thoughts though? Clap back with your thoughts in the comments, man, as we get ready for finally Pelicans playing some NBA action. Some real NBA action tonight against the Houston Rockets. What are your thoughts? You can catch the game on NBA League. I can’t watch it on League B. But let me before I go, let me complain about that cuz I live in a part of Texas where I’m like close to Houston and close to Dallas, but I can’t watch the game on either one of them on League Pass and I can’t watch Pelicans plus cuz I’m not near Louisiana. You need to fix that NBA. Anyway, let me send me a link if y’all got one. Anyway, hit hit me up. Uh hit us up. Don’t forget, subscribe to the channel, like, subscribe, share with your folks, and let them know that this is where you get the best analysis about the New Orleans Pelicans, man. Once again, big shout out to everybody in the city. I’ll be back there in a couple of days. and let us know what your thoughts about the game
The Pels are taking on one of the West’s most elite teams in preseason action. Melz On The MIC breaks down the matchup against the Rockets and more.

I would actually love to see Herb run the 2nd team.
I’m so ready for the season! Now for me as a native of the Boot I rock with my SAINTS AND PELICANS no matter what but I’m ready to see this new energy with our Pelicans get it on! Now I agree, the NBA needs to work on this league pass thing. I have it and I live in Houston and cannot watch it at all! I complain to my husband about this and he’s a cavalier and laker fan so he can watch how teams more often then I when they are near. This will be a good game! I love your channel and thanks for the videos! I will be traveling back home to visit and then I’ll take the drive yo New Orleans to see our Pels!
Let's go Pels 🎉🎉
I think now is the perfect time to gain more fans in New Orleans this season!!!
Not stuck in natchitoches unc 😭😭
Herb Jones starting to shoot again stop shooting Herb play defense Herb
Fears will be a future All-Star.. I wished Queen was healthy to see how a double lineup would look with him and Karlo or Missi.
Overall, they look solid. The Rockets were just too big and physical us for at times.
