Through 7 games, the Seahawks are giving up just 75.7 rushing yards per game, the best mark in the entire NFL.

It’s the first time Seattle has led the league in run defense since 2015, when they allowed 81.5 yards per game and finished with the #1 overall defense that year.

  1. It’s pretty crazy how even post-LOB our run defense was also still very good UNTIL we switched to that disastrous Fangio-style 3-4 scheme, at which point it immediately became terrible.

I’m so pleased it has been so consistent this year because there are few things worse to watch than a team that gets gashed on the ground.

Also, we can and should expect our d-line to be great as it has a lot of resources invested in it, but the most pleasant surprise is how well the non-Earnest LBs are playing (Earnest has been excellent; I just mean that’s the expectation for him).

  2. I honestly love this defense, great play calling, guys stepping up to their assignment, and most important making the corrections when needed. If everyone is healthy we are legit in that convo for overall top defense.

  3. You have to wonder just how bad our run game looks in practice.

Although I’m glad we have the #1 run defense – it means our run game never has to play it in a competitive game.

  4. We know the Texans oline is Swiss cheese but damn seeing that backfield penetration all night was a treat

  5. Picking up Demarcus Lawrence was such a great acquisition. John Schneider is the best.

    Edit:

Shout out to Big Cat for making a huge play dropping back in coverage at the end of the game.

  6. Last nights Red zone defense was an absolute masterclass against some horrible play calling. I couldn’t get enough of it.

  7. I love a good dline and the Seahawks unit is really impressive.

And the things McDonald is doing with them has been fun to watch.

  8. This is not even our final form, we still have a few spots that can definitely improve. Like even getting our starters back lol

Anyways I FUCKING LOVE DEFENSIVE TEAMS AND I LOVE OUR TEAM!

  9. I wasn’t really shocked when we let Pete go because the run D was straight-up ass three years in a row and it never got fixed.

I mean, look at SF. They had one lousy year against the run last year, went overboard in drafting players to shore it up, and are now at least in the top half. And while it is true that they might have been better served drafting OL at some point they’ve at least addressed a major problem in a manner that is yielding results.

It’s good to be back – way to go, Mike and John!

  10. This also in: seahawks are #1 in weird offensive playcalls to try and lose a game they shoulda dominated.

  11. They have allowed the fewest rushing yards through the first seven games of a season in franchise history

  12. Now imagine Love, Spoon, and Hall back…and maybe some Mills sprinkled in.

Also, the emergence of Drake and Okada has been awesome to see.

  13. We’ve come a long way from week 17 against the steelers not being able to stop najee harris jaylen warren and mitch trubisky to try and go to the playoffs

  14. What a breath of fresh air. I remember the 2023 run defense couldn’t stop a light breeze.

  15. I’d love to see schnieder shoot an offer for Roquan smith. God tier football on all 3 levels

  16. I’ve never had so much fun watching a defense until this game. I legit wasn’t even upset whenever our offense would get stopped because it just meant I was going to watch Stroud get chased around the field again or see a run get shut down immediately
