He’s the problem. He has ALWAYS been the problem.

  1. This is going to sound dumb.

Can someone explain how he’s ruined the team during his ownership. I don’t doubt that he has ruined the team, but outside of a few weird issues (ie. son using madden ratings) I don’t think I’ve heard of concrete mistakes that can be tied to Woody other than front office/coaching.

Don’t shoot the messenger, just want to get caught up to speed as I generally was just a “watch the game and that’s it” fan, but now I’m more engaged by following this subreddit and the online discourse.

EDIT: Okay wasn’t expected to get downvoted immediately. Once again – I am not defending Johnson, I’m just wondering if there’s a good summary of all the mistakes so I can be better informed!

  2. What’s Woody’s worst move here aside from buying the team? Tebow? Pushing for Zach Wilson? Naming Gase interim GM? Firing Saleh in October 2024 instead of January 2024?

  3. He’s one of them.

But it’s lazy to squarely put the blame on him when the coaching and management has been so subpar. At the end of the day, he’s not playing on Sundays.

So, yes, he’s an issue, but is it his fault Justin Fields is scared to throw passes?

  4. Now connect the dot to him being a billionaire nepo baby and former ambassador to the UK.

  5. First thing he did as owner was ratfuck the existing succession plan leading up to bill b’s famous napkin resignation. The man is an embarrassment

  6. I think there’s rotten leadership. New ideas aren’t encouraged. Good ideas are seen as bad ideas and vice versa. This rotten way of thinking plagues the Jets ownership which then poisons the entire organization.

  7. I get it, woody sucks and it seems like after 25 years he still hasn’t learned the football business. But it’s not for lack of trying or spending.

Saleh was the hottest coach during that cycle and woody got it done. He hired JD and sat back and let JD do his thing. And there was a time here that we all loved JD. Now look how that turned out.

He’s not going to sell the team, so we’re wasting our breath demanding that. We should spend our time praying that we get a QB that can ball in spite of the jets curse. That’s our only hope.

  8. Woody bought the Jets in 2000. Aside from the few years when Parcells was coach, were we any good in the 25 to 30 years before 2000?

Woody is a significant concerns, but the issues here date back well before when he bought the team.

  9. When your team sucks start from the top down. Shitty owner, GM not enough info, head coach sucks, qb sucks and so on. Only about 5 players id keep. The two Williams brothers, Quinnen and Quincy, Breece and Garrett and Sauce. The rest can go.

  10. We need to start getting competent quarterback play. There should be a proven middle of the road starter as the lead option and then draft someone make them overtake them.

Imagine if instead of throwing Sam to the wolves his first year we had him sit. Then there wouldn’t have been pressured to draft Zach we could have felt more confident in building around Sam and adding to the line and skill position players.

Maybe he never flourishes into what he is now, but I feel like most of our problems come from the GM and coaching staff having to always start managing the future around year three of their contract because we are always looking for a short-term fix to the quarterback situation.

  11. Just hire the right coach and GM. We don’t even have a second wr. I’m not even talking about qb hell

  12. He’ll never sell.. just move on from the team. Next up is his dip shit son, Brick. Running the team via Madden.

  13. We can look forward to the Jets breaking their fans hearts at the draft.  I hope the oh no guy is there.

  14. Child rapist to boot who is in the Epstein files.

This scumbag should be thrown the fuck out.
