Rich Eisen Weighs In on the Seattle Seahawks’ Sloppy MNF Win over the Houston Texans

Hey, listen. Wasn’t pretty for the Seattle Seahawks. They’re the first team to win a game with 10 or more penalties and a negative three or worse turnover margin and a sub 25% third down conversion rate since at least 1991. And when you see a stat like that, that’s because the researchers are like, “We’re done going further back.” Um, since 1991, including the playoffs, teams that had those dynamics in a single game were 0 and49. Woo. So, it’s not pretty for what the Seahawks did last night. But I’ll tell you what’s pretty. Uh, Jackson Smith and Jigba, man, is unbelievable. This guy is like the new 7-Eleven, right, dude? Always open, man. And eight receptions. He does wear number 11, doesn’t he? Sure does. And he scores seven points, doesn’t he? Six. Well, 67, right? One of those things. Isn’t that what the kids do these days? Look at me. Seven. I don’t get it. I need that explained to me. Okay. Uh, eight receptions, 123 yards, and another touchdown. Fourth most receiving yards in a Monday night football game by a Seahawks player. Uh, the others are named Larent Rice and Metaf. Um, he’s got five games now with 100 receiving yards this season. That’s the most in the NFL. tied for second in a season in Seahawks history. One behind Steve Larent’s six season six 100yard uh game season in 1979. He’s unbelievable in the Super Bowl era with 75 or more receiving yards in each of his first seven games of the season. Jackson Smith and Jigba is the youngest ever to do it at age 23. He and Sam Darnold have a connection and Charbanet is running it. Kenneth Walker can move it and the defense can hit you and they’re five and two and everyone’s sleeping on them. Quite frankly, everyone’s sleeping on them and we may be one we may be one of them too. I mean, I just said they were the most complete team in the No, I know you said that in overreaction Monday. Do you really believe it? Do you really think they’re the most complete team in the NFL? I think we’re sleeping on them a little bit. I I Sam Darnold is throwing a little too many interceptions for my liking to consider them as, you know, a possible Super Bowl team right now. But they they allowed fewer than 90 rush yards in each of the last six games. The issue is here is Can we give Ken Walker the ball, too? Um, I think they like giving it to both of them. And they don’t care. They don’t care about your fantasy team. I get it. They do not care about Kenneth Kenneth Walker fantasy team owners. They just don’t. Darnold’s now 19 and5 as a starter. in the last since uh 2004. The only ones better are Mahomes at 19 and4 and Goff at 20 Goff at 20 and4. He wins football games. The defense is lights out and all they got to do is just get a couple of touchdowns. The question is is like if if is is is in Jig going to do it every game, right? What if he, you know, has a has a hammy or a little knee brain one week? Then who? Good question. I don’t think I firmly believe that Cooper Cup is still that dude. Tory Horton’s still a rookie. Yep. Um Bobo, let’s not sleep on Bobo. AJ Barner. AJ Baro and Barner pretty nice. Did you just go higher register? I did go a little higher register on the tight ends, but they’re rookies. They’re five and two, man. And um you are what you are. And they’re on a bye-week. And then they come out. They’re at Washington on a Sunday night. Uh home and then here. Okay. the Rams that’s it’s rubber is going to meet the road. They finish up at San Francisco. They started the season at home watching Brock Pury beat them with Jake Tongis with pretty much at the final gun, you know. Um so, you know, I I I I think the Seahawks are a playoff team the way that we’re looking at it right now. Remember, they won 10 games last year and didn’t make it, right? So, um defensively they covered up for some offensive issues. Hey, you made it all the way to the end. Thanks for that. 1. Darnold has thrown too many interceptions… he’s thrown 4 across 7 games. I swear these people do not watch the games. It’s outrageous how the narrative gets framed in a completely unrelated matter to what actually happens on the pitch.

  2. Brockman doesn't watch the games. "Darnold is throwing too many interceptions." "Can we give Ken Walker the ball?"

Like… you're just looking at numbers on a piece of paper and saying things. It's complete nonsense in context. There are reasons to doubt the Seahawks, specifically their inability to consistently generate yards on the ground and control time of possession to keep their defense fresh and do damage on that side of the ball, but these guys never seem to have a firm grasp of what is actually going on.

  3. We need to pump the breaks on the Darnold has too many INTs front. He has 4 INTs, which is the same amount as Josh Allen, Mac Jones, Brock Purdy and Bo Nix. His passer rating is 5th in the league with a QBR ranking him at 6th. Again, ease up on that point.

  4. Tyler Lockett was phased out he was the number 1 receiver he showed no signs of wearing down he was not thrown the ball from game 1 when McDonald took over the year prior i think he had close to a thousand yards in a run first scheme from Pete.
