NEW Patriots Trade Rumors & Intel From The Athletic’s Dianna Russini & Albert Breer

We are just about over two weeks away from the NFL trade deadline. Actually, I think we’re two weeks from this date until the NFL trade deadline. And Diana Rini, the athletics best. She dropped a bunch of trade nuggets over the weekend and some of it involved the New England Patriots and some of it involves some of the future that we could see the New England Patriots moves being made. Welcome in Patriots today by chat sports. I am your host Brett Alper and we’ve talked about it before. I think that since the Patriots are 5-2 on the season, they have a great chance to go 6-2 this weekend against the Cleveland Browns. I think that the Patriots will be buyers at the deadline. I think that they’re going to look to improve their team. I think they’re going to be able to I think Elliot Wolf’s going to get on the phone, call them up, and be like, “All right, how can you improve this team? What positions are we looking for?” That may involve running back. That may involve a pass rusher. That may involve, hey, a wide receiver, but we got you covered here on Patriots today. When they do make a trade, if they do, we got you top-nots Patriots coverage daily. If a trade happens, when a waiver happened yesterday, they signed somebody and they brought them in over from the Chargers and we brought you a video. So, subscribe right now and go Pats. So, Diana Rini, she opened the article with some investigative journalism. Yes, the hard-hitting journalism on why Tayvon Henderson’s name plate looks like that. How it’s just scrunched in all together. and she was wondering probably like every single other Patriots fan like you and me, why does his jersey look like that? Well, this is her quote from the article. Henderson prefers the jersey cut in which the stripes sit tight against the name plate to keep those stripes vis visible. The equipment staff has to squeeze the lettering, which is why the name plate looks bite-sized. Stavon Diggs is the only other player who wears that specific type of jersey, but his last name is shorter, means the typography isn’t an issue. Yeah, the hard-hitting news, Diana Rini. We don’t care about the trade rumors. We care about why Tayvon’s Henderson’s name plate is the way it is. No, it’s awesome. I mean, we were all wondering what it was like, why it was like that, but I I He likes it and we’re going to keep it that way and hopefully he gets to see some action this Sunday against the Browns. Back to the trade news. The NFL trade deadline is November 4th. And we talked about it. Good teams usually add players and bad teams usually sell for picks. They’re selling for every type of player. Well, Patriots aren’t bad this year. They are back 100% 5-2 on the season. So, a good team usually trying to add players, trying to get their team better as they’re trying to look to be contenders in the week AFC. Here’s what Diana Rini had to say about the Patriots trade rumors and what they’re going to do. And she said the Patriots are not making calls for a running back. They have talked to teams about past rushers. They’re fielding calls on several of their own players. We’ll talk about some of the several players that they could be looking to sell before the trade deadline. But after the last few games, this kind of makes sense that they’re not looking for a W or a running back at this time. And the whole entire time I’ve said, well, with their depth chart right now, it kind of feels like they need to make they need to make a move because you have Arandre Stevenson and Trevian Henderson. Antonio Gibson, Torres ACL, he’s out for the year. You can see him down below in the bottom left as he’s put on IR, but they have Jack Westover as your fullback. And it was kind of like, who’s going to be that third running back? Because if one other person gets hurt, you are screwed. So, they needed to get somebody. Well, they added Terrell Jennings from the practice squad. He hasn’t been officially signed to the 53man roster just yet, but he has been elevated from the practice squad the last two weeks. He was playing special teams last week. He also got in some uh some burn during the final minutes of the fourth quarter against the Titans cuz the game was officially over and the Patriots got that win. But um man, after his performance against the Titans, he kind of looks like that he is going to be that third guy on the depth chart at running back. This comes from Mike Reese. And this was how Mike Frabel does it every single game after the Patriots. Whether it’s win or loss, he talks to each one of his players, gives him a high five, says something to him. And over in the background, you heard that Terrell Jennings made an impression. Mike Frabel said he found its fiveminute running back. And Jennings has also taken over kick return duties. Once Antonio Gibson went down, they did not give any type of chances. They said Trevon Henderson is getting brought out of that kick return spot. I know how good he is, but they do not want to take a chance at another person getting hit. And Terrell Jennings has done a good job alongside with Effan Chisum. And Eton Chisum has kind of made an impression on this team and I think he’s going to be kind of active for the rest of the season. Now, I like Terrell Jennings, but I don’t see him being a true factor as a third running back. I know he’s coming from the special teams, but there are multiple running backs out there that you can get for a trade really easily that I would like to see the Patriots kind of trade for a running back. And it’s because this is the stats before the uh Titans game where Raandre Stevenson rushed for uh 88 yards and Drake May had 60some yards and they rushed for 175 yards total. That’s just one game. Before this game, the Patriots were 32nd in EPA per rush and 32nd in success rate per rush and 29th in yards per per carry. Like that’s bad. And you needed someone to kind of elevate that. You also needed a kick returner. But if you could bring in someone that gives just a little boost, maybe if Raandre does is a little gassed after a couple plays, Trevon Henderson’s your third down back. Who’s going to be that third guy? Like Antonio Gibson type role. Well, I would have tried as a sixth for a guy like Damen Pierce because he rushed for 900 yards in 2022. I still think he has some juice in him. I still think he can run on the outside and run between the tackles and just give the Patriots. I’m not asking him to be a starting type running back, but if you want a guy that’s going to give you 15 snaps a game, I think that’d be a perfect guy better than Terrell Jennings. And you only have to give a six round pick. I like Terrell. I think he’s going to be a great player, but I just don’t want to see a practice squad player. He was on the practice squad for a reason. But if you made the impression to Mike Frabel, well, there’s a reason why the Patriots aren’t trading for a running back. I’ll ask you guys though, you be the general manager. You be Elliot Wolf right now. Do you want to see the Patriots trade for a running back? Go down in the comments section, give me a T for trade or give me a P for pass. I’m going I’m going T for trade. Give me another running back on the roster. We can keep Terrell Jennings as your special teams guy. Now, coming up, we got more Patriots trade rumors. Albert Brerier said something. Diana Rsini kept talking about talked about one player in particular that could be a long-term thing for the New England Patriots. But first, I got to tell you about our sponsor of today’s show, and that is Prize Picks. Will, if you want to get that prize pick lineup on there real quick, you and I make decisions every single day, but being right can get you paid. Don’t miss any of the excitement on prize picks where it’s good to be right. Prize picks is simple to play. Just pick more or less on student to six player stat projections. If you get your picks right, you can cash in. You can now follow other prize pics players directly on the app and copy their lineups in one singular click. Whether it’s a friend, a celebrity partner, or someone’s whose picks you like, hit that follow button and check out every lineup they create on the new feed tab on prize picks. I made a lineup for this weekend’s game. New England against Cleveland and Drake May, give me the more in his passing yards. If he’s going to keep doing it, I’m going to keep playing it. Quinn Sean Judkins, give me the less on his rushing yards. 72 and a half. They haven’t allowed a 50 yard rusher yet. And I told you guys every single week until it happens, I’m putting Stfan Diggs more touchdowns in my lineup. If you can make a lineup just like that one when you download the app today and use code CLNS to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. That’s code CLNS to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. Prize picks. It’s good to be right. All right. So, I want to bring back up this quote from Diana Rini from the article that she wrote. And we’re not going to talk about running backs cuz or talk about pass rushers because obviously we’ve already seen that they’re fielding calls on their own players as well. So this is the second person now to mention that they’re fielding calls on their own players. We saw last week on the video that I made that Adam Shfter listed three Patriots on his list of candidates that could be traded, whether it’s Kyle Duggar, Keon White, or Anthony Jennings. And I think those guys are definitely on the trade block. I think that the Patriots are still trying to trade them because Kyle Duggar has been just mediocre. Anthony Jennings, he’s really good in the run. He keeps showing me every week that he’s good in the run, but he can’t get to the quarterback. Look at what Kavon Chson has done this season. Look at what Harold Landry has done this season. They’re getting pressure every single play. There’s no need for an Anthony Jennings to be on this roster. And then you have Keon White, man. Then you have Keon White. 16 snaps, one tackle versus the Titans, and he has just completely completely completely fallen off. And it’s sad to see, but at this point, you kind of have to trade him with 65, 285 lbs. The tangibles are still there, but he is just not working well with this Patriots team. He’s not getting on the field. He’s down to 16 snaps and the Patriots could just get something for him. Could get a five uh literally a fifth round pick for him or just anything. It’s time for Keon White to be traded. Now, if you want to talk about Kyle Duggar, yeah, I just still can’t believe that uh 53 yard bomb to uh Chris Ave on the first play of the game. So, those are your three guys that are going to be traded. But there was also a tweet and I could pull this up for us right now and it came from Carlos Lopez and it was about Adam. It would talked about Adam Adam I keep saying the wrong name. I keep thinking Adam Shester. Albert Brrier talked about some of the Patriots moves and that they’re looking for a trade a long-term trade instead of just going for a short term trying to find someone that is happening here. You don’t have to go to the uh tweet, Will, but he talked about how the Patriots are looking long-term. They’re not looking short-term. And I agree with that 100%. You want to trade somebody that’s going to help your future. And someone quick is not going to help your future when you have a future MVP candidate in Drake May. Well, Diana Rsini said this one specific thing in her article, and it talked about AJ Brown. And now this is going to disappoint the people, but they have received calls on AJ Brown and teams are being told and I guarantee the Patriots made a call up to Howie Roseman that uh they wanted to try to trade for him, but the quote says we aren’t moving him now. Well, there’s a key word there and that key word is now. So, does that mean that you’re going to try to move them later? Does that mean you’re going to keep him for this season? Because I’ve talked about it on this channel before, how he has a $9 million dead cap hit, but after June 1st, that drops all the way down to 49 million. Makes it a lot easier to trade him. So, is that what you mean by now? Now, me personally, I think he’s going to get moved this off season. 100%. 100% he’s going to be moved. He is disgruntled. He doesn’t get the ball that much. And I know Jaylen Herz had a great game against the Vikings, but that’s just a one game sample size. You need to do this week in and week out. And AJ Brown has not been a factor for this team. And I think it really pisses him off, especially that he’s already he’s already got that ring. So I think that he’s going to trade. Now, we talked about the Patriots wanting to go to a long-term. Well, with how the receivers are right now in Kahan Booty playing absolutely out of his mind with Stfan Diggs getting 70 yards last game, getting a 100red yards before, I think that it is the you do not need to make a trade. And all I got to say is you want to think about the future. Think about what you have with Drake May right now and think about how good he is playing. He is number one in completion percentage. He is top five in passing yards. He is top five in everything. You could see it right there. Look at those stats. They’re week seven. He is playing like an MVP candidate. You think about building around him. He’s still in that rookie contract. Next year is your real true contention time where you build this team. The wide receivers are good right now, but you think about the future. I think the Patriots are drafted wide receiver. I’m not going mock drafts on this channel just yet because the Patriots are five and two. Talk about trades cuz Patriots could get better. But I’m thinking about the long-term effect like Albert Brerier said. You though name a Patriots player that you or name a player that you want the Patriots to trade for. It could be anybody. I know a lot of people want to trade for AJ Brown, but it is not going to happen just yet. It’s not going to happen just yet. So go down in the comments section and you tell me a player you want the Patriots to trade for. That’s going to do it for the latest episode of Patriots Today by Chat Sports. 1. D. Pierce be a dumb trade. Why would you even give up a pick for a damn practice squad player. Freaking idiot. Know some damn football! Pick up a damn pass rusher!

  2. Getting Stephon Diggs to play like a legit WR1 has really helped the other WRs on the Patriots shine. Now, if we can get someone like Chris Olave, that would really take the top off the Pats offense. What does this guy do really well? Get open for long balls. What do the Pats have at QB? We have the QB who probably throws the best long ball in the NFL right now in terms of touch, arm strength and vision. With Diggs and Olave racing down the field, I have to think that Douglas and Bouthe would almost be wide open underneath on every play. I would give a lot to get a guy like Olave.

  3. I'm a little bit worried about Cleveland. They have one of the best defenses in the league. I heard they were the top-rated defense against the rush. I hope the Pats don't look past the Browns and have a good plan against their D.
