Justin Russo, who was one of the OG members of Angels twitter way back when and is now a reporter covering the Clippers, reacting to the Kurt Suzuki news.

I expect this sentiment to be divisive, but I think we can all agree: Arte needs to #selltheteam.

  1. Before anyone asks, he is not advocating rooting for another team. He clarified that in follow ups.

He is saying it’s acceptable to drop spending so much time and money on a franchise running itself in such an unserious way.

  2. I would never become a fan of another team. I just consume less Angels content and go to less games.

  3. lmao who the heck is Russo? aint nobody stopping. for every 1 fan that “stops” we get 2 new ones.

13th in MLB attendance in a rebuilding year. top 10 most years and back to 3 million fans in 2026.

Aint nobody “stopping” lol and I definitely don’t agree Arte needs to sell. We will continue to support this team by the millions and if you don’t believe me, go check the attendance numbers.

  4. Yea I’m not sure how people be “fans” of other teams. It’s never worked that way for me. I remember the good times of being at the park with mom or dad. Shitty enough I’m never going anywhere and will always be a halo fan.

  5. 100%. Never going to root for another team, but I also never want to give Arte another cent of my money.

  6. Lol it’s okay to do whatever you want. Stay a fan. Or don’t. Nobody cares except you.

If your interest decreases, thats okay and that’s normal.

It’s also okay to go to games and enjoy yourself.

Do whatever you want. That includes not listening to me 😆

  7. I don’t understand why some people think Suzuki is such a bad hire. Well respected MLB veteran catcher, young, recently retired, local roots. Were Cleveland fans complaining the same way when they hired Stephen Vogt a couple years ago?

  8. I’ve been so out of touch with the team that I stopped watching baseball and had no clue who was in playoffs besides the Dodgers and Mariners.

  9. Another I’m leaving the team and you, person I have never met before, should do the same post.

  10. Will always love and follow the Angels first…but the last 8 years at least…I mostly just follow the players I like. Whatever player I like most is the team I’ll root for. Except the Yankees and Astros…always fuck them. 😂

  11. I just don’t follow baseball unless it’s October. That’s the sad reality. I won’t give my time, money, or energy to the Angels anymore.

  12. I feel like anyone who has a problem with this needs a reality check, I love the Angels, always will and will always hate other teams fans who piss me off like the Dodgers and Mariners. But I haven’t been to a game in 2 years and have watched only 10-15 over that period because I refuse to spend 6 months of the year upset and in a shitty mood cuz the team lets me down. I’m not leaving to be a fan of another team, I just am not going to let an organization that would not care if I died tomorrow have a consistent impact on my mental

  13. Idc I’ll always root for the team. Bury me in my Anaheim jersey. I’m immortal to all shit talking against the angels. Last thing I want is to be called a bandwagon because I “abandoned” the team during its dark days and appear when they’re winning

  14. I think this is the year that we seriously need to get Sell The Team chants going that it comes up in broadcasts. And make our voices heard whenever Arte decides to show his mug in public.

If he’s there for Suzuki’s introduction, then I say we make him listen.

  15. Angels are my team, always will be. But as I’ve been watching over the years, I’ve expanded to watching baseball in general. I probably go to 2 games a year for the Angels, which I consider is a dime in the millions of dollars that more dedicated fans spend

  16. Not to pile on the guy, but its wild that on a day that had the greatest player in franchise history providing testimony in a wrongful death lawsuit against the team, during which he discussed eating zit pus….. its the hiring of Kurt Suzuki that prompted this tweet.

I don’t like the hiring (but I also don’t think it ultimately matters), but that was far from the most embarrassing news for an Angels fan today

  17. It DOES make you a fair-weather fan. They have had some very bad luck when they have made big moves so I understand taking a step back. They won 9 more games this year — that’s a positive. If they win 9 more than that next year they are .500. Look how bad the Phillies were from about 2016 to 2019, but they’re near the top now. Give it another year or two and if it’s not any better then yeah. But they are trying to move in the right direction.

  18. Hey, Russo, there’s a spot for you up the 5. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

And when the Angels start winning again, don’t bother coming back, mmmkay?

  19. Like my other teams that all suck, I’m trapped for life. Damn whoever wrote that sports illustrated for kids article about Vlad Guerrero

  20. This hits in so many levels. Suffering for decades. No world series win in over 20 years. It’s pain. I want to leave, but at this point it feels like I’m a hostage.

  21. I can’t go anywhere else. I still love baseball. I just feel like Charlie and the football at the beginning of each season with Arte as the owner.

  22. I’ll keep tabs on the radio, but Im giving up fan duel and I’m going to boycott tickets to the stadium. Maybe a handful of games next year off seat geek to appease my kids if they want to go.

  23. Detroit fan here. I absolutely tuned out the Lions during the Patricia regime after his first game blowout loss at home, opening day, against the Jets and Sam Darnold.

He was so unlikable and the Patriot Way copy/paste they were trying to pull off was so stupid that I’d had it.

I was all in with Dan Campbell the minute he had that press conference. He was clearly genuine and believed what he was saying that I decided I was ready to be hurt again. I have no regrets.

  24. And he can leave. It’s okay. Some people aren’t comfortable with their own decisions unless they’re validated by other people.

  25. I don’t live in OC, so it’s a lot easier for me to say this because simply following the Angels costs me little to nothing, but “taking a few years off” baseball feels like a casual Yankees/Dodgers fan attitude to have.

The Angels are a young franchise but they are multi-generational for me. If my dad and I disagree about everything else, we still have the Angels. That goes beyond a bad owner to me. I wouldn’t be first in line for season tickets right now, and I don’t plan on buying more merchandise anytime soon, but I love baseball and I care about the Angels too much to stop watching and following the team entirely

  26. I can’t wait for Nashville to get an expansion team so I can at least focus on something else.

  27. That’s what I did. I just stopped watching baseball until the angels have something respectable in leadership.
I actually don’t miss it that much and just roll
My eyes whenever I somehow come across a dumb dodger highlight on social media

  28. I just can’t quit on them, the kid within me who obsessed over the Angels won’t let me

  29. Wrong wrong wrong. You have to endure the hard times also. You can’t just leave then come back when they are good. You are a fair weather fan. Root for them every year (and argue all the time) no matter how rough and frustrated it gets.
