Alontae Taylor on Dennis Allen, defense execution | New Orleans Saints

Um, Caleb Williams, one of the things that he does best is kind of playing off platform and whatnot. Like, how important is it to like contain that and not allow loose shot? Very important. Um, I think since I’ve been here, one of our things that we needed to work on is quarterbacks who can scramble, quarterbacks who can use their legs. Um, I think we have a really good game plan this week. Um, and I feel like if we just execute that and we do our jobs, I think, you know, we’ll be able to be okay. How much I mean obviously There’s been a lot of talk with facing Dennis Allen. I know you’re not going against Dennis Allen, but like, you know, are you playing for him? Like, does that add any extra motivation, you know, getting to go against you in former coach? Um, no. I got a lot of respect for DA. Um, he drafted me, right? So, that means a lot to me. Gave me a chance. Uh, so all love and respect, but definitely want to go out there and have a really good performance. Um, you know, I think he he believed in me from the jump. So, I think I go out there and ball out. I don’t think he’ll be surprised at that. Have you ever been Have you ever been in a situation like this where the coach you spent so much time with this on the other side? Is this kind of a person? No. Um I mean, uh Derek Angelie was my defensive coordinator in college. Uh my rookie year we played the Chargers. So him being over there with the DBs and then so I’ve kind of played against some of the coaches that I’ve been with and have relationships with. Um but it’s always good to go out there and have a good game and just perform at a high level, especially for those who believe in you and and know who you can be. So, yeah, with the potential weather and rain on Sunday, what is that change in terms of y’all’s focus and maybe how much we’re going to be going after any potential balls? Yeah, I mean, I don’t think anyone likes to play in the rain. Everybody calls it football weather. Uh, that and the cold, but I hate the cold and I hate the rain. Um, but I think, you know, once you kind of get on the grid iron, you just kind of, you know, those are things you can’t control. Um, you can’t go out there and play sloppy. You know, everybody points that stuff out. So, I think you just put that to the side and just keep the main thing the main thing and that’s to get turnovers on both sides. Like you said, it’s going to be cold, raining, so opportunities to get turnovers. Um, and I think we need to have another like five turnover game. Give us the best chance to win. I think tackling was a conversation that was had a lot early in the season in terms of, you know, had to be a little bit better. Doesn’t feel like something we’ve talked about the last couple weeks. How do you feel like that’s kind of come along for your group? Um, I think we just got to keep rallying to the ball, man. I think, you know, you got to run out the stack. Uh, we have to make sure we set better edges. Um, I think when you do that, you know, we’re fine. I think if you look at times we are getting off the field and times we are making great tackles, it’s not really like one-on-one tackles. It’s like somebody setting the edge in a pursuit, running from the inside. So just got to play complimentary football man and keep the main thing your main

  1. Why do they even interview this guy?! Just by his game playing, it’s like he doesn’t even wanna tackle. He wants to arm tackle everyone it’s so embarrassing. I mean I know he’s young but the fundamentals are lacking. Watch how he finishes play.
