Disappointment
If we can find a way to acquire Skubal we need to do it. Signing Bellinger would also be on my list due to the production he had for us. Finding a catcher to replace Wells is also on the list, we can’t have him back in the batting lineup. I want to sign Grish in FA just because of his regular season production, but am still down on how invisible he was this last post season. I’d still give him another shot in the pinstripes if I’m Cashman, though.
Choking
I’m not high on any of these guys. Spencer Jones feels too good to be true. We’d basically have Cody Bellinger x2 with him if he got called up, right? What are the chances that works out? I have PTSD over Greg Bird and his body not holding, I have PTSD over how many guys mashed in the minors but with high strike outs and low averages, came to the majors and aside from running into a few monster home runs, couldn’t beat major league quality pitching.
I just choose to assume the worst case scenarios around our prospects, however highly touted they may be.
That said- could he be a trade chip? Could any of these guys? Skubal or Skenes for the Literal Farm?
