NBA Mini: Los Angeles Lakers vs. Golden State Warriors | Extended Highlights

Still 13 to shoot. Lob it inside. Aton is surrounded. Taken away by the rookie Richard. Now it’s Richard with numbers the other way. Lob it up for Peyton who guides it home. And Steve Kerr talked about Will Richard before the game. Obviously winning a championship at Florida, but the effort and energy on both ends on display. Marcus Smart soft touch on the float game. Eighton and Smart still looking to see what this role will look like for DeAndre Aton and his pick and roll partner Luca Donic who talked about the comfort between the two of them. Comes up short here and the rebound cleared by Horford. Warriors have looked to run all night. Curry relocates and knocks down the triple. Swarming on defense, but in transition you must have a Curry awareness. Donic inside for Reeves. A dime from Donic. He likes this matchup. Called for the clear. Hook it inside. Horford missed it. Curry hits the deck. Smart hits the deck. Four on four now. Both recover. It’s a five on four. The Lakers hurry. Smart all the way. Rolls it home. Well, entertaining right here. Dodgers. Who says he doesn’t play defense? Great block and contest. Steph Curry with seven points in this second quarter. Golden State holding on to a six-point cushion. Jimmy Butler got them started. Now Curry is trying to keep it rolling. And there’s that connection. Butler to Curry for two. And look, he sets a screen then fakes the the screen from Horford. So Curry up to a dozen. Butler with his second assist. The Warriors 11 assists on 14 made field goals so far. Here’s Donic off the screen from Aimura. Fades and fills it up. Three turnovers for DeAndre Eaton in this game. Still trying to find his rhythm with his new team. Curry the look away and big shot. or will it? They’re going to call this a shooting foul. Right. Here’s Curry Tightening in that drop coverage. Curry takes advantage. And that’s three fouls on Draymond Green. And now a foul is going to go against Kaminga. And it’s going to be a chance for three. Luca Magic making an early appearance. Gee, Luca likes to go left. You force him right. That’s the scouting report. But so smart, so composed. Donic 19 points and six rebounds in this first half. Bounce it for Hatamora. His three is good. Boston and New York Minnesota and the Lakers. For more on these games, go to NBA.com or visit the NBA app as Ruy Hatamora knocks down another three. Curry to the rim. Oh, Kamiga tried to wind it up. JJ Renick barking out to get somebody on Steph Curry. Laavia listens outside. Pajki fly by three ball cash and takes the two for one for Golden State with an 8second different shot clock and game clock to wind down this second quarter. Oh, Donic a deep one. He’s got it here. And I don’t know what you can do defensively when Luca is taking and making them from downtown. Fantastic. And so is Butler and Curry. Who else can step up on both sides may make a difference. Draymond Green leaves it for Kaminga and he knocks it down. Steve Curry, we asked, you know, what would be the ideal role for Jonathan Kaminga with this team as Donic goes up and puts it through. Count it in the foul. Yeah, he got Dantage right there. It’s like almost at the last minute he got poked and just threw the ball up there. So, here is Kaminga. And when we asked Steve Kerr what that role would look like, the first player, he said he didn’t even pause. Said Shawn Marian. If he could play like Shawn Marian, that’s a Shawn Marian play right on Q as he squeezes it in. A 2010 guy. And another turnover for LA. Curry in the open court. Donic bounce it. Butler takes flight and finishes. off of forcing turnovers. And this is not a Warriors team that necessarily was super awesome pacewise last year. Donic, that is creative on the angle and another chance of a three-point play. Taking his time, meanders down to the baseline. And you see Kaminga, he’s trying to body him up. Curry shadowed by Vincent. Curry hook it. Green attack. Keeps the head up. It’s Kaminga with four on the clock. He has to fire and he hits another triple. Finds Butler. Mismatch with Vincent. Former teammates in Miami. Butler goes right at him and he gets it to go. Aiden post up. Fade. No. And they keep trying to force feed Aton inside. I think Reeves has got to get involved. Has not been aggressive. Neither has Donets here in this third. Back door. It’s Curry understands the situation and and of course the previous play Curry that’s what JJ Reick said the team had to be so aware of you have to know where Steph Curry is 100% of the time which is easier said than done as Donic continues to make magic fading away with another chance for three I mean right there Donic just once again so strong that he puts into his game he looks stellar out here with this movement Sir, what you’re saying is watching him doesn’t make you want to come back as Peyton explodes. GP2 with a slam. The awareness knowing that he’s hit two threes and Draymond Green at the top just delivering. Mismatch with Aiden. Curry right past him. Kick out. Kaminga again. Pure. He’s become an assassin from three-point range. I’ll tell you, the ball finds energy. Kaminga has tremendous energy. Great confidence. And right there you see Stephen Curry plays like a power forward with the finish. Jonathan Kinga now with 11 points in this third quarter. And yet he can’t stay in front of Donic this time. The easiest deuce of the night. They are down by 10. They’ve missed 10. Heel deep ball goes down. Buddy buckets from way outside. Luca has done on him. And then he’ll swing swing. You got to close out. They are kind of Donic off the screen, send fends off on Horford and he somehow just finds the perfect angle as always. Domingo started this run for Golden State in the third. Working on Donic attack mode for two more with Marcus Smart and Jackson Hayes on the floor. Can they bring that energy and that toughness needed? Big time three there on the swing swing from Luca Dodgers. Two minutes to play in this third. Lakers could really use a run to end this quarter. It’s healed again for three. And talented on the defensive end. And of course, Pajimsky drawing the contact, collapsing the defense. Now the blitz around Olabia. More of that zone look we saw in the first half from Golden State. That leaves Donic open on the outside. Attacks. Lobs. Hayes with a finish. Boy, Luca’s going to stay in the game. Remember, Reeves has five fouls. Luca has not sat in the second half so far. He’s got 35 points. And Smart finds some offense and a smart drive there. But you’re tough spot right now for JJ Reic with Reed with five fouls. You can’t take Luca out. And right now, Buddy Heel is killing the Lakers defensively. And previous play the throw ahead the awareness of the hot hand. Vanderbilt not known as a three-point shooter. Donic doubled back to Jared Vanderbilt. He’ll attack. Sky had it knocked away by Green. We talked to JJ Reic about his visit with Rams head coach Shawn McVey this summer. Said the biggest thing that he learned was instilling a football culture as Vanderbilt misfires and also the gadget plays. That’s something that he loved that the Rams were instilling as he was getting there. And speaking of getting there, Draymond Green goes all the way. Stephen Curry approves. Once again, Lakers not back in transition. Draymond Green so smart. What he does does not show up in the stat sheet, but he impacts winning to the highest degree. He’s got four fouls now as Reeves has a chance for three. He just toyed with a secondyear man post and that’s what they need. Reeves downhill. We saw a lot of that in the first half. Attack mode. Nice little shot fake. So many battles in Miami and Boston between these two. Cut off. Four to shoot. Green. Swing it. Healed. Another three. It’s pure. Buddy healed. Stuck on automatic in LA. Well, I’ll tell you what, the awareness of the team knowing that Buddy Heield is hot from downtown here in this half. And Reeves back on there trying to play through five fouls. Laavia, one of the acquisitions this summer, spins. No rebound. Hayes outside. Reeves pump. Drive. Leave it. It’s Hayes on the attack. Knocked away by Green. Working on Vincent again. He’s loved the matchup all night. [Applause] Spin and score. Jimmy Butler willing his way to the bucket. Reoff draws two over the top. Hachima on the take. Six to shoot. Dantic back on the floor. Attack mode. Gets to the rim. Fades and puts it home. He’s got 37. Yeah, you know, he did kind of it was a little jab there. You know, just enough. You noticed it too. Just enough. Horford inside for the easy one. Feels like Kaminga is going to be the X-factor for this team this year. Eighton stops, pops, and hits. And that’s part of his game. Those nice little floaters and push shot there be a weapon for them on the offensive end, but not enough here tonight thus far. Heels no hesitation now. Donic leaks out. Heel gets back defensively. Donuch goes right to work. Floats it up and in. 39 points for Luca Donuch. Just under six to play. The retired jerseys and the banners, it makes you want to be here for as long as you possibly can. And so he was excited to get a deal done and be here for the foreseeable future. As Richard gets in the scoring column, drills the triple on the outside. A valuable asset to this team. You can see the trust right away at this young player. Hima’s response. It’s there. Got to be careful as long as that man with the ball is in the game. 3912 and eight for Donic. He gets inside, gets to his spot. He’s up to 41. It’s his careerhigh in a season opener. Hammoro steps up. Horford backs down and intercepted. Reeves takes it the other way. Numbers for the Lakers. It’s Aiden trailing the play. Catch and finish. Lakers making their push. Approaching four minutes to play. It’s a 70 run. Reeves attack mode for two. Time out. Golden State. N0 Laker run. We’ve got a game. Trying to find Curry an opening. [Applause] Butler working on Donic. Draymond Green will try and hit. Now it’s Donuch offensively against Pajki. Double comes. Vincent three was blocked. Aiden got it and he was out of bounds. Steph Curry on the closeout. gets it done defensively right there. They’re scrambling on defense. A great swing swing and Curry contesting on the Steph Curry. Three steals and a block. 235 to play. Warriors looking to close the door. It’s Butler patient for the bucket. Door on Butler. Butler just takes his time, attacks Luca, and we’ve seen that here on display tonight. Back to a 10-point game. Reeves three. Good. Rattles one home and a big hit to keep it in arms distance. Hand it. Curry hook it. Butler bounce. Payton for two. Beautiful basketball for the dumps. This play right here maybe the best play of the day for Golden State. The screener roll action. [Applause] Reeves Hachimura around for Donic with 41 points on the attack for two more. Trusting the pass. Big time possession. Butler three. Kaminga up high for the board. [Applause] Butler inside. Payton. Seven to shoot. Curry deep one. Bullseye. Steph Curry. He loves shooting from deep when you’re in the building. Wow. [Applause] Alienike tendencies showcase in downtown Los Angeles. Reeves with a bucket. And your final score. A strong performance to start the season for the Golden State Warriors. They claim it in downtown Los Angeles 119 to 109. It’s on ESPN on Disney Plus.
