Why Dak Prescott’s Dallas Cowboys are NFL’s BEST OFFENSE | Colin Cowherd Podcast
Welcome to the official YouTube channel for the Colin Coward podcast. Go on, hit that subscribe button if you’re new so you don’t miss any of our great football content this season. So, uh, let’s talk about the Dallas Cowboys. Uh, you know, they clobber Washington 44-22. I mean, Dallas had almost 300 yards in the first half and did they had a great Dak had a great Dallas is so good this year at the end of the first half. like they’re so good and Jaden Daniels got hurt, came back, Mariota had an absolutely dreadful pick six to give Dallas a 4115 lead. But I will tell you right now, I’m of all the surprises in the league. So, I picked New England to be the surprise team in the league. I feel good about it. I picked uh Denver and Kansas City to win that division uh and go to the playoffs. Chargers third. I feel pretty good about that. I feel pretty good about my stuff. I had no idea. I mean, I didn’t think Dallas would be good defensively. They may be the best offensive team in the league. They’re they’re situational. They’re unbelievable at the end of halfs. George Pickkins outside of Hofunga and probably including Hofunga is the steel of the offseason. I mean, a third round pick for that guy. Um, they had CD Lambach today. I’m blown away by Dallas. I And Jaden Daniels doesn’t look right. I don’t think he’s healthy. That was both of our concerns when he came into pro football. Could he stay healthy? I think Dak looks sensational. That offense is as fun to watch as any in the league. It is amazing what happens with CD and Pickkins both. It just opens everything up for their tight end play. Their running back Javante Williams looks like the Denver guy. So, I mean, I’m Dallas is I am I don’t say this very often. I am shocked about how good they are offensively. You could make the argument, and I’m not necessarily making it, but you could that that Brian Shottenhammer right now is the coach of the year. They trade Micah Parsons whatever what was that two weeks before a week before the start of the season. Yeah. He not a soul thought he should be the head coach and every human being that follows football thought it was an embarrassment to name him the head coach. And then once he’s named the head coach, they thought he’d be completely over his head. Well, offensively, he’s the offensive play caller and they are dominant. And then you you get rid of Micah to add Pickkins, who is a pretty big personality, who is going to shatter all of his personal highs. I mean, he’s on pace for about 80 catches. I think his career high coming into the season was five touchdowns. He’s already got six. And it feels like on any given play, he can score. I mean, he is he’s pretty dialed in. Now, I get it. He’s a contract year, but those situations can be can be touch and go. CD comes back seamless. Just put them right back in. They hit the ground running. Offensively, they look like a juggernaut. Now, listen, Washington, the magic is out. I mean, they look defensively, they look terrible. Jaden needs to protect himself more. He’s getting crushed. Obviously, they were missing wide receivers, but the magic from last year is is on empty right now, Colin. And Dallas feels like they got a little bit of it. Now, defensively, are they going to be good enough big picture to compete for a wild card? I don’t know that. But we all have to admit Brian Shottenheimer has done a remarkable job as the play caller in managing this situation, which I don’t want to say scenile quite yet, but Jerry’s pretty out there now in his mid 80s. Not an easy situation for a first- time head coach. Yeah. And I think it’s all because of Dak. I think Dak is just one of those guys. You know, it’s like everywhere Chris Paul in the NBA went. you know, the Clippers, if you go back to when he when he came into the league, um, you know, down in was it New Orleans and then the Clippers and Wake Forest and everywhere Chris Paul went, they remember Phoenix for years, they had, you know, Booker and they had a and they were terrible. And then Chris Paul got there and his 16 points a game and his IQ and his toughness and his distribution. It’s like everywhere Chris Paul went, your basketball team got better and smarter. Like, let’s just be honest about Dak. He just he’s played so many snaps at Mississippi State and and Jerry, whether it’s Dez, Tyron Smith, Zeke, Zack Martin, it doesn’t matter. Amari Cooper, if he’s upright, they win double-digit games. I mean, I think he’s been sensational. And I think it’s just like anything else. I don’t care if you’re a dentist, a sports cer, a quarterback, you just you do something long enough, you don’t have to think about it. And he he did this a couple times today where clearly the first two people weren’t open. You’re watching his head. They’re not open. And you can just his sense of the pocket and pressure is so good. He just has he doesn’t get nervous. He’s just you and he’s also a big guy. I mean Dak to the average person in America, even among pro athletes, Dak is big. He’s thick. You know, when guys get older, these pros, they’ve been in a pro weight room forever and they also eat. And so quarterbacks aren’t cut. you know, quarterbacks, they’ve got pudding. Dak’s a big human being. And I just watch him when the pocket collapses. He’s totally comfortable. He I, you know, he’s just a really, really good football player. And I I I don’t think there’s a lot of I think he has really great tight ends. I will say Javante Williams, the running back, has returned to that early Denver form. He’s pretty damn explosive. He doesn’t go down with one tackle. Listen, their defense a major question mark, but the one reason I’m just thinking like I can’t totally write them off. The kicker they have is a major weapon. So, this is not college football. A lot of your games are just going to be within the balance of a score. And if you get 20, 30, 40 seconds on the clock and you’re down, you know, two, three points, that guy can hit from 70 yards. I think Birkhart, he he blasted a 62 yard field goal today. He’s like, that would have been good from 80. I mean, he’s just he is I don’t think we’ve ever seen anything quite like it. Now, I get it. They these kickers have access to the balls Monday through Saturday, but is that really making a 10 yard different? It’s remarkable whatever these guys are doing. And that guy is the cream of the crop right now cuz his his ball doesn’t even move in the air. It’s just right down the middle 65. You don’t even think about it. How good are they like their red zone packages with Brian Shottenheimer? Guys wide open. It’s It’s been really really impressive to watch. He’s, you know, sometimes if you miss your window, I think sometimes in coaching, right? This this sport’s pretty fickle. An injury here, all of a sudden you go from a hot name to a negative name. Maybe, you know, he was somewhere in the middle. He maybe got a little too hot when he was young, but he kind of fell off the radar. Remember, he got with Russell Wilson. He got fired there in Seattle and just he kind of fell off the map. But clearly like this guy knows a little something about offensive football. Yeah, I think their red zone packages are late half are really it’s like I mean honestly it looks a little bit like Denver and a little bit like Kansas City. Like there’s just when you get into a congested area and there’s guys wide open that that’s coaching. Yeah. And I think I think Dallas deserves a ton of credit. Um I I want to talk about Otani before we leave and some college football. So the Eagles beat the Vikings 28 to22. It was an interesting day because Jaylen Herz was actually great down the field. You know that’s been the big knock. It’s a they can’t run the football anymore. They literally cannot run the football. Um, you know, Jaylen has has heard what people have said. He’s a super competitive guy. Devonte Smith, AJ Brown. I mean, it was it was big game hunting. Um, and you know, Carson Wentz is Carson Wentz. You know, he’s just But Jaylen in the end was 19 to 23, perfect passer rating, 326 yards, and anything over 10 yards, um, he was exceptional. You know, I’ve kind of come to terms with Philadelphia. It’s always going to be a leaky faucet. Um, because Jaylen has there’s some limitations, but there’s so many ways to win in this league from a quarterback. There’s the movers. There’s the big guys. I mean, right now, Joe Burrow can’t stay healthy. And we both love Joe Burrow. Like, Jaylen Herz stays healthy. Jaylen Herz leads. Jaylen Herz is pretty damn good over the top. He’s got that Russell Wilson thing in his prime. He’s pretty damn good over the top. Um, he runs. He’s great on the tush push. And I’ve just kind of come to terms with when they’re healthy, they’re not great at corner, but when they’re healthy, a lot of their gummies are going to look like this. They’re just going to have bad stretches. It’ll almost be like if the Dodgers didn’t have as good a starting pitching. They would have bad stretches if they face good pitching. Like they’re they’re he’s not gifted enough in the pocket to get easy completions. It feels like everything kind of feels like work. Now they can’t run the ball anymore. But I thought this game today, the Vikings off a buy at a tough place to play. Philly’s a little beat up. I thought it was a pretty impressive win. Did did any two play sum up Jaylen Herz more than at the end of the game they ran a slant? I think it was like second and 10 and he throws it behind AJ Brown and you’re just like, “Oh my god, they’re going to have to punt and the Minnesota’s going to get and then the next play they run the double move, fake the slant and he goes hits him in stride and you just went all all game long he hit Dvonte Smith on a deep bomb for a touchdown. Early in the game he hit AJ Brown and and then when when it was all on the line they put it in his hands and he came really on second and third down they they trusted him enough. So, I I would say this, it was a good moment for the OC to just kind of get everyone. They’re not going to be able to run the ball because their center’s banged up, who’s a little bit of an overrated player, but their their star guard Dickerson’s out. And their right guard situation has been in flux because they couldn’t pay Beck and he leaves. So, last year, their interior offensive line, we know their tackles, they had arguably the best offensive line in the league. And Saquon, let’s face it, like pretty motivated last year. Pretty big chip on his shoulder, wins the Super Bowl, doing a lot of commercials, living life now. You know, life’s good. And I totally understand. It’s it’s hard to be motivated at He got to the pinnacle. He proved to the Giants they were wrong. He doesn’t just maybe there’s just a natural uh wear and tear on the tires like we’ve seen now two years in a row. McAffrey a couple years ago, Saquon. When you have this historic number of touches, usually it’ll slower the next year. Everyone’s belineed on you. But here’s what you know about the Eagles. And when Jaylen’s on, how many teams have Devonte Smith and AJ Brown? I mean, it’s like get those guys the ball, you’re unstoppable. I bet How’s up there in the in the box always like just throw these guys the ball. Throw go route this thing. Like go deep. Unlike Bo Knicks, he he has a lot of touch on deep breaking routes. What’s what’s amazing about Philadelphia’s offense is last year they would just squish people with time of possession. They didn’t have the ball. I mean, the Vikings had the ball. I mean, if you were casually watching this game in the red zone, every time you turn on, it felt like Minnesota had the ball. Uh, you know, Carson Carson was atrocious at parts of this game, there were guys wide open. He was bad. He was He was bad. And again, you know, they wanted Sam Darnold. You and I know that they wanted Sam Darnold. I mean, the JJ McCarthy thing, he can’t stay healthy. So, I it’s Minnesota has been well-run since the 70s and they have like Buffalo now. Buffalo’s had long stretches where they were really a mess. I mean, Jim Kelly years were great. The Josh Allen years were great, but they had a lot of lean years. They had lean decades. I mean, New England went 12 years, just beat them twice a year. Minnesota’s been like Kansas City. They’ve been playoffs or borderline playoffs for most of my life. It’s just when you get Mahomes, it changes everything. Minnesota’s just waiting for that great quarterback. They probably should have signed. It was hard. They gave up a fourth and a fifth to move up to get JJ McCarthy. I think they wanted to sign Sam Darnold, but Sam’s like, “You drafted a guy.” I want to I want to I mean, Sam and his agent made the right call, but now you’re trapped. You You kind of have to play JJ. And I think inside the building, they have real doubts about it. I I think Breer talked about this last week. You kind of resurfaced. They They had tried to go all in for Drake May. Did Did you talk about that last week on your show? like they had they had offered I think their two first round picks and a the for the next year’s number like they they put an enormous package and the Patriots smartly just said no but let’s face it like they do feel now and you have Kevin Oonnell so you never know like you found Sam Darnold like they could find a pretty type but they they could have a little couple years of like being like the Colts right now because you’re like Wentz definitely is not it I mean he’s on this is a six team in six years right and let’s face it at this point in time how could you have any faith in JJ McCarthy just to say healthy, let alone be a good player. So, you watch them, you go, they their personnel is pretty good. Their coaching’s good, but if you don’t have a quarterback, I mean, there were guys even on the one that Hawinson, they called a drop. I I thought it was a catch, but I get the rule. Uh he was wide open and Carson like does this like sidearm like he’s Chuck Knoblock. Just just lob him the ball and have him catch the spread basket. What are you doing? And that that cost him. And uh but that’s like Carson went to your quarterback. It’s 2025. What are you going to do? JJ comes back next week or in two weeks. They got problems that stability at that position because you can watch at any moment the pos the players around him. I mean, Justin Jefferson’s spectacular. Honestly, the talent relative to the Eagles was pretty equal. The quarterback play the gap was how he had to feel pretty good. I got rid of that guy for this guy and I won. Yeah. No question. [Music]

Jalen does have limitations ….namely his OC. as far as the Eagles not being able to run the ball , that will get back on track after the bye. the O line has battled injuries the whole year.
WOW…REALLY!?!?
Stop talking about the Cowboys positively!!!! BANDWAGON HERE!!!!!!
You were trashing the Cowboys AND Dak ALL OFFSEASON and further in the past!
BANDWAGON BANDWAGON BANDWAGON BANDWAGON
This is exactly how Minnesota should be offensively with Jefferson and Addison but yet here we are with a totally wasted year of KOC’s shitty play calling and not knowing what you’re doing as a head coach. Sorry, as you can tell I’m a Minnesota fan, pathetically. That being said, Dakk looks amazing! He’s using his weapons like he should be using them and this is the most explosive offense in the NFL because of it. He deserves it as well.
I would compare the Eagles WR corps to the Cowboys versus the Vikings.
Who has Dallass beat????
It’s real simple. A competent offensive play caller, a decent running game to go Ali g with those weapons and Dak will flourish. I think we forget how bad the running game has been in the past few years.
I just want to see him do this in the playoffs
Coach of tha year..????? ALready???? Cmon…..Im A BOYZ FAN
Cowboys have not won in Denver since 1992, Dak has never won there, lets see after Sunday
When will they acknowledge they were wrong about the Schotty hire?
I didn't forget it Zeke was washed
Except for the Jets. Dallas has lost or tied to every Defense ranked 25th or better this year.
CC likes his tea! 🥃
Dallas is beating the worst Defenses in the NFL. Watch what happens vs Denver
His dad was a hall of fame coach and one of the greatest offensive minds the nfl has ever seen. If you thought his son wouldn't pick up something from his dad your crazy.
I would pump the brakes on the cowboys offense.
“He’s thick”… Pause
I was worried about Schotty. But I quickly ate crow. And love the guy
And you can tell the players want to play for Coach Shot
Just let’s wait and see what Dak does in the playoffs. Up to this point Dak has come up small in the playoffs.
We dont want you, please continue being a critic.
I’m kinda surprised too…CeeDee and Pickens open up EVERYTHING! And Pickens in a contract year is playing lights out! If the Max Crosby trade happens, the Defense might become salvageable. We’ll see….its been a long, long time since Dallas was worthy of any praise…so, let’s see how it goes.
I love hearing Colin talk about my boys
We've seen this before from Dak. I gotta see it in the postseason. Lighting it up in the first half of the season is actually normal for Dak… As is shitting the bed in the playoffs
puleaseeeeeeeeeee…same rinse and repeat for lion heart Dak, he excels in regular season but shrivels vs any playoff team into int machine….how many years have we seen this?? This is the definition of dak's career, another version of Kirk Cousins
Lmao Colin violated calling another man thick and pudding 😂😂🤦🏽♂️
It's crazy how this early in the year people already talking about MVP and Coach of the year .
Colin refusing to give Schotty his credit because he absolutely roasted the hire. I was also wrong about him but I can admit he has been really good.
If Dallas' defense can just get a few more stops and get off the field a little more, they will contend with the Eagles for the division. We'll see.
with the coach that will be fired by mid season? UFTS Cowpoke
they need to trade George Pickens – for some sort of Def
Parsons is VERY overrated. The Packers are barely winning. He doesn’t make a difference enough to warrant $47 million a year…. That’s QB money. No way he’s worth that. Packers made a BIG BIG BIG mistake. Cowboys may have too but we’ll see who they draft with those picks. PLUS, if Jerry turns one of those firsts into Maxx Crosby, that would mean the Cowboys turned Parsons into Maxx Crosby, Kenny Clark, and a 1st….. that’s a massive win.
He also called him as a Chris Rock
The Cowboys lost to the Bears and Panthers, and tied with Green Bay. Ya'll need to slow your roll.
Somebody told me Danny Dimes was the best quarterback! The MVP even… 😮😂
wow..Colin finally gave credit
They are 500 record lost to Bears and Panthers inconsistent
I swear you guys love, jumping out the window without a parachute with these takes. We just witnessed the Indianapolis Colts put 38 points on the Chargers, effortlessly. The commanders have the worst quarterback in the national football league and their defense is very old. Can we keep things in perspective please. How many points do you think the Colts would’ve put on the Washington commanders?
FIRST OF ALL THE SURPIRSE TEAM OF THE YEAR IS WITHOUT A DOUBT THE COLTS..CMON DANIEL JONES..THERE IS A MVP CONVERSATION NOT DAK PRESCOTT WHO HAS DONE WHAT? PLAY A BUNCH OF LOSING TEAMS NAME ONE TEAM THEY HAVE BEAT THAT HAS A WINNING RECORD. YEAH THERE ISN'T ONE THEY PLAYED 4 TEAMS THAT WERE WINLESS INCLUDING THE EAGLES ON OPENING DAY WHEN ALL WERE WINLESS BUT THEY HAVE BE INCLUDED BECAUSE THEY PLAYED..SO 4 OF THE 7 GAMES WERE VS WINLESS TEAMS..GIVE ME A BREAK..WE WILL SEE HOW THIS CLOWN HOLDS UP WHEN THAT START HITTING THE KC CHIEFS AND THE LIONS BECAUSE IM TELLING YOU RIGHT NOW TODAY THEY WILL LOSE THOSE GAMES BECAUSE OF DAK..LOL ALL THIS MVP TALKIS A JOKE AND CLICK BAIT..Y'ALL REPORT MORE ON A 3-3-1 TEAM THAN THESE TEAMS LIKE THE COLTS AND TAMPA BAY THE TEAMS WITH ACTUAL WINNING RECORDS..NO ALL YOU CLOWNS WANNA TALK ABOUT IS DALLAS WHO HAS DONE NOTHING BUT BEAT BELOE .500 TEAMS..SMH THE ONLY MVP ON THAT TEAM IS AUBREY..
A good old fashion fortyburger beatdown of WSH, regular service has been resumed
Colts are the best offense in every single metric for the past century. It’s okay to talk about small market teams
Micha was more worried about his podcast
Dak Prescott interview talks going against Denver Broncos, the 2 previous games and this big one in Denver, show all my way, what's at stake and his I'm going to approach this, Dallas Cowboys big win over the Commanders, Cee Dee Lamb & George Pickens and Javonte Williams our #1 offense, just letting them know I can play

This is why Colin should not have laughed at Schottenheimer. He said it was a joke. Maybe he should have gotten some information before saying that with no facts.
Not as much on the road, though. They need to step it up in road games.
6:39 clearly he knows something about defense too. Shotti has been humble but he alluded to it, and Jerry outright said that Shotti spent hours with the defense everyday last week. And Shotti said he will continue to do that. Shotti focused on the defense and all of a sudden they look competent?! Shotti is giving genius vybz
I'll say it first we beat Denver with a FG three seconds on the clock with the best FG KICKER in the world with a 72 yard FG to win but the film shows it would've been good for eighty yards COWBOYS 37-34
We were playing the Commanders!!!! Without all there players lets calm down it was a good win but lets regroup and move forward.
