Lombard needs another two years in the minors minimum
I can say with 100% certainty the guy who just OPS’d .695 in AA this year is not the answer any time soon (probably never). Even the dimwits in the FO aren’t dumb enough to think that.
Neither one of them. You already have a guy on the roster who can play everyday at SS And he’ll steal you 60 bases. Save some money
They’re going to start Volpe as soon as he’s healthy. It’s pretty easy to see that.
I have so much faith that George Lombard, a RHB shortstop drafted in the first round out of high school who was committed to Vanderbilt and has had the exact same minor league coaches as Anthony Volpe, will be better than Volpe
Lombard is not ready and Bichette is looking like he won’t stick at SS for long. So unless the plan is to replace Jazz with Bichette next year and then fill in with Lombard, I’d say that we’re looking at Volpe/Caballero.
Adding someone who can play SS and 3B as another rotation option could work. I don’t think anyone would be celebrating in the streets over signing Willi Castro or Ha-seong Kim but they could fit in as guys who can play 3B against lefties and patch in elsewhere on other days.
Lombard is a glove first prospect with the hope that he fills into his frame and adds consistency with his bat. Hes a top ranked prospect due to his potential ceiling, but as of right now he’s not even remotely close to an option.
Caballero in 26 and Lombard 27
Trade Volpe for Pitcher or Hitter
Idk what the answer it is but I know it’s not Anthony Volpe.
Lombard hit .215. He is a while away. Bichette is a butcher at short .
I don’t know why these scenarios keep coming up. Yankees fans need to accept that the team is never moving on from Volpe unless he has a career-ending injury. Do I agree with it? No. Have I learned to accept that he’s their golden boy who can’t be touched for whatever the fuck stupid reason? Yes.
Lombard is 20 yrs old in AA and hasnt had the results yet at that level, no he isnt the answer this year. Bichette is not a great defender at SS.
If you think Volpe is a bad defender wait until you see Bo Bichette.
The injury obviously complicates things a little but my thought was trade either Jazz or Volpe.. which ever one drew enough interest. Who ever remains is the 2B. Cabby needs to play regularly to properly utilize the speed.
Also having to watch Bo everyday as a yankee would be up there with Verdugo. I cant stand even looking at his derpy face.
Lombard has to make strides with his in game power and consistently barreling balls. I think he has another 2 solid years in the minors to go. Bichette to me is a no brainer.
Apparently there are still some people who haven’t learned the lesson of what happens when you rush a highly regarded shortstop prospect to the majors before they’re ready in hopes that they will save the franchise.
Genuine question, why does everyone think the Jays aren’t going to make a big push to resign Bo?
All 3 are not a viable option for nexts season
Bo Bichette is an awful defender no thanks
It’s definitely neither unless there’s somehow no market for bo and you can get him on a prove it deal. Also idk if he’ll get a QA from Toronto but that’s even less reason to pursue him
Neither
Mikey Romero in Boston’s farm system would be perfect. Unfortunately, Boston
Why would Bo leave Toronto for us at this point?
barring another injury there is 0% chance the opening day shortstop is anyone besides volpe or caballero

Anybody other than Volpe is the answer
Lombard is volpe with less power. Dude hits .230
