Hard to argue with that. Winnipeg has handled some disadvantageous situations super impressively
RIP
I don’t think Vegas has seen any adversity in order to rank them this high.
3 teams with recent cup wins, 1 that is a perennial contender with excellent drafting, and Winnipeg who manage to be a top team with one of the hardest situations in the league
Seems reasonable
Montréal is on its way up this list! Watch out!
you mean to tell me the kings aren’t on this list? /s
If only our team had a good front office…. I don’t trust Allvin, Rutherford, or any of them.
Hard to argue that hiring the son of a league executive for your front office is the best possible strategy.
Biased Avs fan, but it’s incredible how both Colorado’s front office, and the coaching staff have just gone completely under the radar by national media in terms of recognition for like the entirety of this team’s window.
And Dallas #2 ahead of Tampa and Vegas and Colorado? In my opinion, Jim Nill has been coasting off the 2017 draft for a while now, thank god they got Benn’s horrendous contract off the books this off-season, but yet still have another two years of Tyler Seguin’s pretty overpaid contract. Not to mention the Lundqvist for a first round pick trade, signing Matt Dumba, and I still think giving Duchene a four year term this off-season will age very poorly. A good GM, but second best? Don’t think so lol.
And Carolina has a very good case to be in this managerial top 5 in my opinion
Chevys done some great work over the years, nice to see him get some recognition.
TLDR – One of these things is not like the others.
Not surprised that 4 of the 5 are in warm weather, non-traditional hockey markets, and most importantly, income-tax-free states. All the more impressive for the Jets, as Winnipeg is pretty much the exact opposite of the other 4. Smallest market in the league, smallest building, worst weather, and with the exception of Edmonton, the worst city in the NHL to live in.
I’m not surprised the Penguins aren’t there. FSG doesn’t give 2 shits about hockey. They just wanted another to own another team
In the last 5 years? How is Montreal not there?
Literally some of the best contracts in the league.
I might put jets at top. Probably the most difficult team to be successful (not desirable for FA, not the best city according to polls, Canadian taxes etc) and yet they continue to succeed. Also worth noting two of their best players are Americans (KFC and Helle) so for two phenomenal Americans to sign long term in a Canadian team is hige
Yzerplan
Montreal is #6
You can tell no one from Buffalo was asked to participate based on the fact that GMKA didn’t vote for himself.
When the nepo baby runs your FO and daddy will do anything you ask that will make you the best FO.
Is it just a coincidence that the top-3 teams are no-tax states? 🤔 Like if it helps to manage a team when you don’t have to negociate really high salaries to deal with the income taxes. And it will be a better advantage with the higher salary cap.
Winnipeg is the only true answer, the others are based on low taxes on salaries for players, not about executives.
Winnipeg being up there is tremendous for the league!
But notice how the top 3 have no state income tax?
Coincidence?
Montreals front office has gotta be pretty good to go from absolutely no one 3 years ago to a potential contender with a locked up young core.
Nice to see Winnipeg on there
Really surprised Canes aren’t higher. Contender, lots of cap space, core signed long term.
Montreal and Winnipeg.
Everyone ripped on Steve Yzerman, which is deserved, but I don’t think anyone’s drafted better than him the last few years.
