Probably the most confident loss I’ve watched to start a season in a long while
Losing sucks but was a fun ass game. Niko can’t start if he’s not gonna do shit and Jaime played way too many mins. Would’ve preferred Fonteccio down the stretch atleast he can shoot. On to the next.

Fantastic opener. Ridiculously competitive from start to finish. Felt like each team was in a dead lock in all of the major statistics. Shame we couldn’t get the rebound at the end off Banchero’s miss to go for the tie/win at the end. Still, given how much more talented Orlando is than us and not having Herro… not too mad at the result.
* Powell was aggressive as hell, played more D than I thought he would
* I’m so lukewarm on Wiggins.. clutch 3 late but aside from that eh
* Just happy to watch Davion play basketball… such a treat minus the short 3’s
* Fontecchio did way more than I thought he would, we’ll see if it’s an aberration or not
Magic did their job. Tristan Da Silva is the RSHK of the night. I’m optimistic that we scored 120pts+ on them. Been all too rare with our old offense in past years. Hope it carries over Spo!

I’m sorry but when a guy like Bam has to put all his energy into every facet of defense, yeah it’s going to be a long season!!

This feels like last year with Herro, he would have a really good game (Powell with 28) and no one else helps late in the 4th and we lose.

Wtf wasn’t Ware playing? Im at work I could only watch the last 3 minutes of the game. So many rebounds could have been had if Ware was playing. I thought he was injured until Spo checked him in the game with fucking 5 seconds left.

Why pull Fontecchio when he starts to get hot?
Why not adjust to getting killed in the paint by playing Ware?
Still blowing 4th quarter leads, new season same Heat. My expectations are low for this season, with that being said they played better than I thought they would tonight.

In basketball, games often come down to which stars can step up.
Even when Banchero missed, his drives collapsed our defense, setting up easy putbacks and open threes for his teammates. He exerts gravity.
On offense, Bam disappeared down the stretch. Which is fine. At this point in his career, we have to accept who he is: an elite defender & a limited scorer. He doesn’t generate or capitalize on enough mismatches the way stars do.
It was nice to see how seamlessly Powell fit in, his instant scoring was sorely needed. Mitchell showed a lot of promise, his playmaking has noticeably improved. Wiggins hit timely shots and was a great role player tonight. Jaquez looked good, simplified his game, and also played within his role. And Fontecchio was surprisingly effective, if his defense can hold up he adds another offensive dimension to our team.
Jovic can’t get enough defensive rebounds or doesn’t score enough to keep him in for critical stretches. Love that Dru Smith overcome two career ending injuries but he was erratic, jumping out of position for steals, getting bullied on too many drives. And Ware doesn’t do the small plays, doesn’t box out for timely rebounds, he chases blocks instead of simply being positionally sound … he hasn’t earned Spo’s trust. Which is frustrating because we definitely could’ve used his size down the stretch.
I think we have great supporting pieces, we just need a star to bring it all together. Intrigued to see how this season plays out.
Bam in mid season form. 4/13, 4 turnovers 2 assists. Fourth most points on the team. Only 15 points in a 121-125 regulation game. So sick of this dude. I don’t care how good defense you play, or how many hockey assists this guy has, how crisp his screens are. He is a max player in the nba in 2025. 4/13 is bad. 15 points is bad. Dude is a bum.
