DeMarvion Overshown: Football is More Than Just a Game | Dallas Cowboys 2025
you know, been watching for 300 plus days now. So, when you got like me that, you know, football is is more than just a game to you. It’s a a way of life. Uh you play with the passion and that energy and you know, when you’re able to do it again, you never take it for granted. So, each each period play I had out there, look, I was dancing, having fun with it because I know, look, it can be taken away from you at any point of time, but it’s more so just being out there with my brothers, man. We grind all off season, uh, see each other work and get better. So, you know, me and being out there to, you know, compete and and play, run around with those guys, I know they enjoyed it just as me. Right after the injury happened, you set a a a timeline for yourself that you’d be back no later than Thanksgiving. And right now, you’re on track to beat that, even if only by a week or two. Just talk about how how good it feels to to be able to, you know, do that and manifest that. Yes, sir. Oh. Uh, you know, it’s a blessing just to be able to, you know, get up off that field when when after what happened. Uh, I tell myself all the time, you know, I kind of knew, you know, at that moment what was going on with my knee. Uh, so I didn’t look back. I said, “Okay, this is what I’m dealing with.” You know, I don’t know the the total uh damage done, but I know it’s something that I’m going to have to work back from. And uh I got to have faith and that’s all it was at the main part. It was like look you have faith and and believe that what’s done for you is going to be for you. And I always knew this football is just a platform for me to you know spread God’s grace. And you know he’s had uh he’s given me grace. He’s given me mercy. So, uh, who am I not to to wake up every day with a smile on my face, uh, and enjoy, you know, the joys that he has blessed me with, you know, over this 30 think like 17 days that I’ve been injured. Uh, I’ve been blessed with a with a kid, been blessed to, uh, be engaged, but, uh, just been blessed to be around people that genuinely genuinely care for me and love me. So, uh, I didn’t I didn’t lose any sleep. I woke up every day smiling. Uh, I came here every day smiling and I knew once I got my opportunity again like look it was it was time to go and and it’s that time. It’s time to go. How do you uh stay patient though? I mean and not try to do too much. It seemed like a lot of people can’t wait to demo gets back like you come back and automatically be Superman and rescue the defense and you still have to play within yourself and not try to do too much. Oh, it’s just you know doing my job. I’ve always been the one look I ain’t going to go out there to try to do too much. I’m just going to go and do what I know I can do. And when I get in between those lines, you know, the sky’s is the limit for me. And I’m not saying that to be cocky or anything, but I know what I bring to the field. So, uh, you know, hearing the things and and seeing like, oh, we need Demo to be this when he come back or we need DO to do this. I ain’t I ain’t worried about it. I know what I bring to the table. Uh, I know what y’all saw last year and I know that y’all going to get more more of that. So, uh, it’s it’s really no stress or no pressure on me to go back out and do anything. I I know what I’m capable of of. And last year was still me just getting my feet wet. So, we still really ain’t seen what all I can do. What did you do today? What did I I went through individual uh and then done some more conditioning afterwards just to get me primed up. But tomorrow, I start getting a little uh team team reps and stuff like that. So, this basically training camp for me priming me up uh for that game, for that prime time. So, uh it’s going to be prime time. Going through this process again, does it add any more hunger or fuel for you? Oh, it do. It definitely do. You know, uh because we it’s a blessing just being able to do what we do. And we call it work and we call it a job, but this is something that, you know, I I enjoy doing and uh I can wake up and wish I can do this every day of my life. So, uh, just being able to go through things like this, everybody not blessed to be in this position. So, when I get the chance to just be here in this facility, the Cowboys facility, like I I’m blessed. Like, uh, a million people would do anything just to be in my position. So, I come here, do my job, get ready for the next day, uh, and just keep pushing forward. You said you said that game prime time. So, that game is the Raiders. that game. I mean, that’s what we looking like. But yeah, that that’s Monday night prime time. Monday night prime time. Uh Zero be making his debut and I’m excited for it. It’s it’s not going to be anything short of extraordinary. Like I say, I’m I’m ready to show, you know, truly, you know, how how blessed I am. And a lot of people, you know, claim that this knee is injury is one of the worst of the worst. And not too many people come back uh the same afterwards. So, I’m ready to put that to the test. Let’s talk about that, though. Are you stronger, faster? How do you, you know, in your rehab process? Where is that knee and how’s it compared to where it was before? I’m stronger. And we got the numbers to to prove it, but stronger, uh, faster, jump higher, more explosive. Uh, I mean, you name it, I’m I’m all of it. So, my game is not going to slow down. I think one of the worst things I heard over my over my rehab time was, “Man, you got to slow down. Like, we need you to play a full season. Like, you got to slow down.” But that ain’t how I play. I know how to play one way and that’s 100 full speed and that’s all you going to see. So, the knee is stronger than strong. You were torn. They say three ligaments are torn and they tell you that. What was your initial reaction to that? That sounds really serious. I just looked at it as another injury, as another obstacle that look, whatever it is, it’s my job to to get through it. Uh, and and have that faith that I’m going to be all right. And that’s exactly what I did. Like I say, uh, you know, I’m blessed. My family is blessed. So, uh, I can tell you that not one day passed up by that I didn’t smile and I didn’t think that I was going to be okay because I knew I was going to be fine. When did that light come on? When did you know what part of the question? Go ahead. You said 317 things. That doesn’t sound like a random number. Oh, good question. Have you have you followed I mean have you marked every day on the calendar? Uh pretty much pretty much uh almost every day. uh I’ been kind of seen like what’s the projected of ACL, MCL, PCL injuries and you know some people wait out a whole year some people wait 12 month you know some come back 10 11 months so uh I had an idea of you know where I wanted to be back me and Brit both did and what was going to be the safest thing for me uh my career but you know what was going to help the Cowboys win games and that’s the Marov playing football So, I done whatever I could to get back as soon as I can, but 100 at 150%. So, uh I’m I’m ready. I’m excited. Uh nothing that happened to my knees is still structurally wrong. Like the MRIs are perfect. Like nothing has been done. So, I’m good. What are kind of the thresholds that you need to pass these next three weeks to to be ready to go full speed? Just running around. Uh get a coach’s confidence enough to say, “Okay, he’s ready.” I think they they gonna go off of my go. Uh but just to let them see me run around just like what they see in training camp for the other guys. Uh look at the catapult numbers. Let me get into like full practice, full game type reps. So uh really it’s just I’m waiting. I’m waiting as a what? Pinch hitter uh closer coming out the dugout. So that’s that’s what I am right now. So whenever they tell me this week you up, I’m up. I’m ready. You were longer than that even loose, you know, mentally watching practice and stuff like that. How has that helped you and how what have you seen from that vantage point? Oh yeah. No, everything that we talked throughout camp and you know just how he calls games like I’m able to see it while I’m at home or I’m able to see it while uh I’m on the sideline. So, I think doing that over the span of training camp is going to be another thing that don’t slow me down when I get back out there because the communication that we done had on a consistent basis since he been here. It’s been, you know, uh top level. So, uh I’m I’m excited. I know he we already been talking about, you know, different techniques for me and and different plays that they got planned for me when I do come back. So, look, the talks are already in the work. Tail, that TB right there, that’s my dog. That’s my dog. Confidence is a big part of uh coming back from knee injuries. When did the light came come on that I can do this instinctively? Run, cut, do what? When when was that? How long ago was that? That I mean really before training camp. Uh I kind of got an idea of where I should be just from the first knee injury. Uh so once I got to that five, six month period, it’s like all right, I should be doing a little bit moving. like and once I start moving around, it’s like I’m going to be good. Like it’s a confidence thing and a mind thing at that point. My knees healed. Now it’s learning how to run again, learning how to be an NFL football player again cuz you know, you just don’t wake up and do that overnight after being on a walker. So I feel like for about four four months, I’ve been comfortable with my knee. It’s just been getting into football ready shape. Thank you. Thank y’all. Thank y’all. Hey, I feel good, man. at zero. I’m telling you, I almost had my jersey on my cape on. I was so excited. 5:00 morning. You uh during the tackling drills, you kind of after you hit your the first guy, you kind of went like that. What was that moment like? Oh, no. I was celebrating. I was celebrating. Uh it’s a blessing just to feel that contact again. like we joke around in the linebacker room all the time and I was already calling out who I wanted in the tackle drill. So, uh I said I ain’t getting tackled, but I’m tackling everybody cuz I ain’t tackled in a while. But, you know, it’s just a blessing to be able to do that again. And, uh get up, pop up, and go on to the next thing. Last time I was in the fire like that, I was being helped off the field. So, you know, it was something something to celebrate about. I got up and I walked off and I’m good. Thanks, Demo. We’re done. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Adding him, revel, a healthy Carson for depth, that alone should help out some what. Not going to solve the worlds problems but will most DEF provide a spark. He needs to be the leader of the defense. agent 0 if healthy will be a stud. NOW JONES BOYS- NOW IS THE TIME TO GO FOR IT! STOP SITTING ON YOUR ASS AND “WAITING FOR YOUR GUYS”, dak migh get hurt next preseason and not play a snap in ‘26, strike while he is playing as the best damn player in the league!! If they do nothing and sit on these picks, that absolutely proves they aren’t serious contenders.
What no one sees is the incredibly hard work and effort that goes into rehab! Knowing what DMo has had to put in to get back on the field I just pray that he is able to go on without any more setbacks and have a wonderful and successful career!
