Emery Jones Jr. on Being Activated to 53-Man Roster | Baltimore Ravens

So, it looks like you finally get to get on the active roster. And take us through this journey a little bit. I mean, what a I’m sure it wasn’t what you planned on. And what have the challenges been like? Uh, it’s been hard, man. It’s been hard watching the guys, you know what I’m saying? Practice. Um, just coming in here and lifting, uh, keeping my head down, doing my treatment, doing everything I need to do to get back on the field. Uh, now we’re finally here, you know, after a long six, seven months. So, uh, just doing everything I can, man, to get on the field and help the organization out. How far along are you, do you think, at this point? Like, can you feel like, yeah, I could go and play. I’m ready. Yeah, I feel good, man. Shoulders feeling well. was holding up well outside. So, uh, just going to keep attacking. You know, it’s in my rear view now, so I’m going to put it behind me and, you know, focus on ball. How about knowledge wise? You feel like you you been on the sidelines a lot, but it’s not the same as being in there. Do you feel like you would be mentally ready to get in there and go? Yeah, mentally. Yeah, mentally I’ve just been trying to attack it, you know, even though I couldn’t practice, you know, I just been trying to attack everything I’ve been doing. So, uh, mental side of the ball, I’ve been attacking it and, uh, now I’m just kind of getting practicing, putting everything together and, uh, getting up to speed. I mean, what was the most, uh, challenging part of this entire process? Honit. Yeah, honestly just watching the guys go out and practice, you know, and I had to go lift, you know, honestly that was one of the hardest parts cuz you know how much I love playing football. So, uh, now I’m, you know, finally here, you know, finally able to practice and stuff like that. So, now I’m, you know, I’m loving it, having fun. What have your thoughts been of your first few practices at the NFL level? Yeah, I just feel like, you know, I can I can compete on this level. Um, you know, I feel like that was a big question for me, uh, personally, just because, you know, I was kind of sitting out for those six months. So, I got out there and I showed myself I can I can play out there on that level. So, feel good. Since all you kind of got to do was lift, did you get I bet Imagine you’re doing a lot more than you did in LSU weight weight wise, right? Oh, yeah. I got in there with Ron Shri, my guy now, so we’re real close. Uh, it’s been fun, man. Just been just been trying to go as hard as I can. So, when I’m on the field, it’s easy. And how hard to watch this team go one and five while you hadn’t been able to be out there to try and help? Oh, it’s pretty hard, man. But, uh, you know, that’s behind us now. You know, we got through the bye-week. We’re trying to tighten up and fine-tune everything that we got. So, uh, we’re going to be out after this by week and we’re going to be attacking everybody. you guys talking about offensive tackle versus guard for you. Just I know it’s early and you’re just really kind of starting to ramp up. How how do you look at your position? Uh honestly, man, whatever they whatever they need me to play, you know, whatever going to get me on the field, same same kind of mentality I had at LSU, you know, whatever whatever spot opens up uh for me, you know, I’m going to attack the opportunity. Did you move around to LSU or were you just uh I practiced? Yes, ma’am. I played guard and tackle LSU. Um I went on the left side a couple times, practiced there. So, uh something that, you know, I’m I’m able to do. Um, so I’m comfortable doing it and like I said, wherever they need me, I’m going to go. Have John said you haven’t been medically cleared yet, but do you have a sense of timeline when you think you’ll be able to be on the field? Yeah, I talked to my doctor actually yesterday. We got we had a big kind of conference call. Uh, he he pretty much cleared me yesterday. So, uh, you know, next week I should be able to go. You know, if coach Harbbo think that I’m ready and they give me the opportunity and I’m I’m be in there. I know you probably touched on it, but just waiting. I mean, you’re waiting to get to the NFL and then you’re here and now you have to wait for that injury. Is how hard how has that weight been? How great does it feel know that it’s around the corner? Uh, it’s been good, man. God God is amazing. Um, you know what I’m saying? I have full trust in him through the whole process. You know, my mom just kind of talked to me and told me, you know, he didn’t bring you this far to bring you this far. So, now we’re finally here, finally able to play ball. So now I’m just kind of having fun with it, loving it, and getting back where I can have the
