Raheem Morris reflects on Atlanta Falcons matchup vs San Francisco 49ers | Press Conference

slow down our run. Um they did a nice job eliminating big plays. Um that’s what this defense is made of. That’s what they do best. Um and they was able to execute their plan today. We did not execute ours. The intentional grounding at the end of the first half. Did Mike think he was out of the tackle box or did he think somebody was over there? Yeah, I’m sure he thought he was out of tackle box when he made a steps to the left. You know, went up and I thought we would have one more second to kick the field goal right there. It landed at 11 seconds. Uh we had the 10-second runoff. We thought we’ve had one, still kicked the field goal, end up resetting the clock, making it 10. So we were able to get out. They were able to get out of there with no points. And that definitely came back as a factor that hurt us. Did it feel like those moments pop feel like to you those moments popped up all night? The third and 13 to Mcaffrey in the red zone. Anytime you play a team like this and the quality opponents you’re playing, you got to be on the screws with every single thing. And we were not tonight. Um that situation happened the end of the half. It happened in two-minute at the end of the half and it happened at the end of the game. Those things happen and that’s why they won the football game. Third and 13. Were there 10 men on the field? Is that There absolutely was and it’s absolutely embarrassing and it’s my fault and I’ll get it fixed. How did it happen? It doesn’t matter. It’s my fault. Raheem, uh looked like Mike got a little shaken up um one of those plays late, maybe maybe a leg. Is he okay? Uh we don’t know that yet. Obviously, we got to go let him get evaluated. He gave me the thumbs up on the sideline when we were asking him, so he was okay to finish. We’ll see where he is tomorrow. Yeah, coach. How do you try to move on? Yeah. Um um how do you try to move on from a game like this? McCaffrey uh was able to, you know, run it and catch it on the defense today. We go fix the problems. As coaches, you identify them as players. They’ll fix them. We’ll go back to the lab. Won’t let this game lose twice. Won’t lose this game twice. The fourth and one call to throw to Drake. Were you good with with not going like sneaking it or Yeah, 100%. Um you know, anytime you get a chance to throw to one of your best players, you feel really good about it. Um they made a great play, they knocked it down instead of us moving the chains, being able to go out there and try to win that football game. Uh we didn’t put oursel in the best positions to win and they made a play. Not having your power back, Alia hurt you there also. Uh he was in the game. Did you feel like it was a good week of practice and you crisp and feel like coming in that you know you were on screws with everything? Yeah, it felt great. The guys do a great job during the week of preparation. uh we didn’t go we did not go get some of the things executed that we want to get done and you lose the games when you play those type of games. I played these guys a lot. Uh when Cal’s able to maintain possession, able to run the football the way it was tonight, when he’s able to take over the time of possession, when you break even with him in the turnover situations, you lose those games. And any critical mistakes that were happening in the game throughout the coaching standpoint, that’s how you lose games versus CHN. Clearly, you know, always know McCaffrey can have one of those days. I mean, when you’re on the other end of a Bejian type game, um it does it feel not helpless, but frustrating? No. Um it feels like you need to go out there and figure out how to stop it, right? is never feeling helpless, especially when you got the players that we have and you got the men that we have coaching them. Um, you always feel like you got an opportunity to go out there and win those football games. We did not do enough to win it tonight and that’s what happened.

  1. Why is Mike limited to just out route concepts and curl flats? The route tree for the wrs is little league. Zac has like 6 plays on offense, and still calls only 3 of those ! Kyle Pitts keep it up

  2. We got to have some real leadership. Someone needs to make a stand and show some pride. Where is the accountability? What is the standard?
This team is luke warn at best on tack to miss the playoffs.

The only way we win, is when another teams lets us.

  3. 1. We got beat by a team full of 2nd stringers.

    2. Penix was not worth the 8th overall pick

    3. The O-line is terrible

    4. The receivers are garbage

    5. Outside of Bijan the offense can’t score

  4. Are they seeing something in practice to not let penix throw over the middle? We're getting to predictable. They say he can throw the whole route tree, with their defense so beat up the middle should have been a no brainer

  5. Raheem is NOT a head coach. All he does is stand on the sideline with a dumb look on his face. He has NO input or emotion only when they do good. There should never be only 10 men on the field and there should never be 12 people on the field. I will never understand why that happens. Raheem should be fired.

  6. If you take away bijans 30 receptions on 39 throws ( some HUGE gains on a few ) and 2 tds, penix jr. is completing 53% of his passes and a ypa of 6.2- 6.3.

He's only had 9 starts but there is something awkward or perhaps slow on his delivery mechanics. This was highlighted in his college draft notes. Against mid to better defenses ( especially on road), this may be a common happening.

Cousins impossible contract to move may just be a blessing. He's a healthy 2 years removed from achillies and the falcons actually have a good defense with a real d/c.

This should and could be a playoff team.

  7. All y'all talking negative about my coach and quarterback take your ass ova there. He getting it. And thank you for your opinion. We doing just fine u usually trying to get above. 500. Y'all too impatient

  8. You hand the keys of a potentially high powered offense to a first time OC last year and he hasn't learned a darn thing. Raheem, you may be a good assistant coach but no way should you be a HC.

  9. Honestly. This game was just another critical game. Does to show why you should still continue to underestimate an opponent’s defense with no Fred Warner. Moreover, I am still calling BS on that TD because CMC was dragged in there which they should have called that a penalty. These passing plays are what’s killing us. Glad that Kaden got his first INT of the season. Pray for a speedy recovery for Mike, Divine, Jalon, Billy & Ray-Ray. Yesterday was a cheated matchup and Niners know that TD was 💩

  10. I’m tired of hearing about how good the other team is and what they did well. Fucc them…. Walk in yo trap take over yo trap and when we’re at home we put BTA. That’s the attitude we need to win hire me as HC

  11. After the buffalo win, I didn't think we were "legit" like penix said. The issue has always been the coach and OC. Game management and decisions not always the best. When niners know what we're running on 4th and 1, don't you think they would know all teams scout for tendencies? We may win 9 or 10 games but don't expect our "leadership to take us to the super bowl.

  12. The literal difference in this game was that the 49ers were just more of a disciplined team than the Falcons and that made the difference. The small eras like having too many men on the field and Penix getting the intentional grounding call were just two mistakes that most likely cost them the game. The Falcons were the most talented team, but the 49ers were just the more disciplined and that's what made the difference.
