Tennessee Titans QB Cam Ward comments on WR Xavier Restrepo being called up from the practice squad

sometime soon. Um I think he’ll get opportunity play. Uh but end day, I don’t get a chance to to call that man up. He’s one of the the best uh practice players that we have out here from receiver and him, James and Mason Kenzie. Uh they give our defense a good look every day. So I just know the the people who are going to continue to get brought up, they going to make some impact plays for us. And you know, if they seven get his chance, I’m pretty sure, you know, he’ll find a way to make some plays. How are you getting to this level? Um it’s more really getting better. Um, I’ve lost it every stop I was at. Uh, so biggest thing is how can we get better faster? I think that’s the the biggest point where I’m trying to get to. And then we also got to make plays. I mean, just throughout the game. It can’t just be expressive times. We just got to be consistent. Really just depends on the concept of how I came out. Um, and then really if my people was there, um, or I threw a sidearm or wherever I threw it, just um, just a different way. It all comes down to where I’m hard on myself cuz I want to be perfect on every throw. Um, and that’s not even just having receiver catch, it’s just ball placement, giving them a chance to get some yak force. Um, and I think just the more I continue to stress that on myself, it’ll help our receivers out a lot. I’m just going to keep doing what I do every single day. Just show up. um put in the work, let my faith lead myself, and again, whatever the team needs to succeed, whether that’s whatever it is, you know, um I’ll do it. How do you feel like your your progress has gone so far this year? Excuse me, sir. How do you feel like your progress has gone so far this year in the practice squad? No, I feel like um me personally, I’ve I’ve jumped tremendous uh expectations for myself, you know. Um I set goals for myself and I’m exceeding them um with great help from the strength conditioning staff, from the nutrition staff, and from all my teammates. What’s your relation? No doubt. I mean, um, I’m willing to do whatever for special teams. Coach Bones knows that. And, uh, me, Coach Bones, coach Stew, we work on multiple positions. Um, I could go anywhere, anywhere in the field. Daniel Jones, obviously they continuing to play well. What’s made him so tough this season and fit so well over there compared to places he was in the past? They got a good chemistry going on. Um, they got a good flow of kind of their offense. He’s understanding what they want to do. Um, and then he has helped from good players around him as well. Have you seen him get better since you guys first saw Daniel Jones? Yeah, I mean, yeah, he’s improving. His confidence is high. Whenever your confidence is high and he trusts his scheme, he knows where to go with the ball. So, he’s playing good ball. When you go into a week, just playing more as a whole, um, everyone understanding what their specific job is based on the play call and just simply executing. I think a lot of things for me personally and us as a group is just simply just executing what’s being called um and executing the way that we did in practice. Um you know just being very intentional about everything we do so it rolls into Sunday. What’s the pride like for your unit and in just trying to kind of show what you guys can do against such strong playmakers against the Colts? Uh, I mean it really doesn’t matter who we’re playing versus, you know, for us to feel like, oh, our pride is here or there based on who we’re playing. We’re the same and we think of ourselves the same no matter who we’re playing. I mean, at the end of the day, we’re all professional football players. You know, nobody’s really going to, you know, do too much based on the opposing team. It’s up to us to play to our standard and play to how we know we’re being coached to play. and like I said, letting it show on Sunday and not just having a great week in practice. Obviously, they got playmakers in the passing game. How big a problem is Taylor, Jonathan Taylor? Oh, he’s a he’s a he’s a good back. He’s a really good back. He has been a really good season. He’s been a good back in this league for a while. So, you know, it’s going to take all 11 guys on defense to everyone do their job, uh, win their one-on- ones and play as a whole, play as a collective group to to make sure that he doesn’t have a good game. or um just wanted to ask you about the second time around, especially going up against some of those Colts playmakers on offense and and what you can maybe learn from the first game facing them. Yeah, I mean from the first time we played him and watching all these previous or watching all the games they played since then. Um you know, I kind of got a better idea of how they of how they’re going to operate cuz we played them early on. What was it week three or something like that? And uh you know, you kind of get a good it paints a good picture of how they’re how they attack certain spots of the field in certain situations. So, um, game plan wise, you know, we all feel great. I mean, obviously today was only the first day of practice, and so we have the whole week to iron things out, but, um, just looking at how they operate as a unit, um, you know, I feel good about our game plan against them, and don’t get me wrong, you know, they’re they’re operating at a high level right now. You know, they’re very efficient in the run and pass game, but, you know, from what I’ve seen, you know, I feel I feel good about things. How have you seen Mike McCoy settle in now that he’s had an official full week to game with you guys? Um, you know, I thought he did a great job stepping in. Even even in the first week, you know, I feel like we didn’t skip a beat. I didn’t feel like there was any huge discord amongst the team, you know. Um, this is my first time experiencing, you know, a new head coach during a season. But seeing him from this from last week to this week, you know, you can tell there’s nothing crazy different. You know, he stepped in and started commanding right away. But, um, you can tell, you know, he’s got that he’s got that swagger to him. He’s got that talk to him. So, um, you know, I’m happy for him and, you know, I’m happy for this whole team and and I think and I know our record doesn’t reflect it reflect it, but I think we’re headed in the right direction. What are some of the keys against Jonathan Taylor this week? Got to wrap up. You got to swarm him. You know, I said it earlier, you know, one of our one of our keys to victory on defense is, you know, getting 11 versus one in the run game and everyone everyone’s got to fly to the ball and everyone’s got to wrap up. You know, he’s he’s a hard runner and hard to bring down, but that’s why you got to wrap tackle.

Titans QB Cam Ward commented on fellow rookie Xavier Restrepo, saying that he knows X would take advantage of any given opportunities, but Ward knows that ultimately it isn’t his decision to call him up or not. Restrepo is confident that he will take advantage of any given opportunity that the team calls him to.

  1. I’m glad they know they have to wrap up and make tackles! I am so tired of these new players not wrapping up to make a tackle! That is football 101! This new bump style of tackling is hard to watch!!!!

  2. Sometimes the answer is right in the palm of your hand but we don't see it because it's not the plan we had in mind, with nothing left to lose but games, find out what fits in your system moving forward to 2026, plus everyone gets playing time to get comfortable with the speed and the system that you are running, Titan UP šŸ’Ŗ
