Steelers Have 5 Intriguing Outside Options To Replace Teryl Austin After Defense’s Disastrous 2025 Campaign

  1. The 2025 campaign is only 33% over, a little early to call it disastrous. Inconsistent, critical fixes, disappointing by the “historic” expectations yes of course. But cool your jets Dante.

  2. Tomlin will hire someone internal who will be nothing more than a figurehead for his outdated defensive schemes.

  3. Why don’t people understand that this is Tomlin’s defense? Austin is just a coaching scapegoat by the organizations design. He has no say or control over the defense.

  4. Why isn’t the facility janitor on this list? He’s an internal hire, works cheap by NFL standards and will do anything Tomlin tells him to do

  5. It doesn’t matter who has the title of DC when the actual person coordinating the defense still hasn’t changed (like the defensive scheme hasn’t)

  6. I’m expecting an internal hire which would suck but they also went out of their way to get Arthur Smith when it came to replacing the OC so we’ll see I guess

  7. He never should have been an option. How do we go from an all time great in Dick Lebeau to the dummies we’ve had since. Flores was the only one even qualified to run a defense

  8. It’s the players too. The secondary is old except for Porter, and he is not HIM. Aldo, Cam Hayward is a liability. Sucks against the run, always has, and too slow now to rush. Cut him and free up the money.

  9. I’m by no means an Austin defender (I’ve been anti Austin since we hired him actually) but disastrous 2025 campaign is a crazy sentence given it’s like week 8. Season isn’t even half over
