Jack Quinn Earns Three-Point Night In Buffalo Sabres Win Over Detroit Red Wings

Jack, first of all, the win itself uh to have uh Ellis come in, play goal, play the way he did in his first NHL game, uh that has to give you guys a lot of confidence. It was great. Yeah. So awesome to see. Um such a good guy and we really wanted to get a win for him and played unbelievable. How about yourself? You had a good game. Uh three-point night for you sometimes. Uh I I know it’s been frustrating for you because points haven’t come, but certainly uh you’ve got six points now on the season. Talk about your season and talk about what went well for you in this game. Yeah, there’s been some uh good games and some not as good ones and tonight was was a good one. So, it was nice to produce a little bit for the team. What has been key for you in developing consistency over these last three to four games? Uh I think just trying to become a better player and um play the right way. Jack, what have you learned about Ellis? He’s not an organizational guy. He’s been here a month. What was your takeaway the last couple weeks and there tonight? Yeah, like I said, just uh just a great guy. one of my uh buddies I play with in junior knows him really well. So, he texted me and um you know, we were just happy to see him get in there and play so well. What was the mindset tonight? It’s a goalie in his NHL debut. When you think of the defensive mindset going into this game, how did that factor in? Just we knew that the way we needed to play. We needed to play a good game and and not give up free chances and uh when we did, he was there for us. Seemed like on Kak’s goal the other night and then um your second assist tonight, just like get the puck towards the net and see what happens. like that like both times assistant Kak is that just your mentality sometimes get it there a little bit. Yeah, I was just trying to kind of attack the middle and um luckily kind of squirted right to him. So, uh yeah, just kind of attacking mindset. Can you take us to the first goal where you kind of I don’t know if you spun or you just kind of threw it at the net it looked like um can you kind of take us through that I guess? Yeah, well Z passed it over and it uh got like deflected so it slowed right down. So it felt like the goalie was like right on me. He had no net, so was just able to tap it back to him and uh was able to bury it. Jack, you scored that go ahead goal early in the third quarter, third period. How does your team balance protecting a lead and creating more offense? Well, I think um yeah, I’m not really sure. It’s a definitely a balance, but uh you want to keep playing the same way. You want to uh keep playing in the offensive zone. It’s kind of the best best defense. You don’t want to be, you know, hemmed in your zone just defending the whole time. So, not giving up any free chances, but trying to play the same way. you’re able to find the open ice on your goal and Mloud was able to find you almost like at the perfect time. I know you have a lot of confidence in your shot. I you know if you can get find open ice and get a get in your wheelhouse like that, you’re going to probably find the net, aren’t you? Yeah, I think uh that’s the biggest thing I’m trying to focus on is getting myself looks and um playing on the inside getting getting those shots because I feel like when I’m not scored, it’s when I’m not getting them. So, it’s a great play by Clott. When was the last time you like? Yeah, I don’t know. It’s been a while. I feel like we’re usually watching Tom Rat up from there, but was happy to there. What can a game like this do for your confidence? That’s good. I mean, uh, just want to keep building on it, keep producing.
