Based on the headline alone – no. Maybe running out of time for THE TIGERS. But at his age? He could find something anywhere in the next half decade and then be a top 5 player in baseball from 29-34. That headline is LOL.
Yep, no player has ever improved after the age 25 season
Really hard to say Mize has reached his ceiling at this point. Most of the other things I agree with.
The dude just hit 36 homers and 111 RBI in his age 25 season. This is a delusional headline
Make it stop
This is going to be the longest offseason

Dumb article. Horrible headline—-Riley has holes in his game for sure but let’s be honest, everyone would be singing his praises if he performed in the playoffs. A good postseason with his reg season counting stats = a good player in my book.
I’m more bothered by Riley’s indifferent attitude at the end of the season with the struggles he and the team went through.
Petzold has gotten so click baity over the years
At the end of last season, I was convinced Riley had broken through and figured out how to be a pro batter, and I know that somewhere in him is a legit 5+ win player who can hit bombs and show some discipline (even with an elevated strikeout rate).
But it was a big bummer to see him strike out even more and fall to below average in terms of OBP/walk rate. Idk if he was hurt – which would explain the defensive and speed collapse – or making a conscious choice to try to hit bombs, but his 2025 version just isn’t good enough.
While still an average/solid hitter, seems like his production dropped the last 2-3 months. Maybe once teams figured out if you throw him high stuff, he had a hard time handling it. Makes sense when you start your swing at your ankles.
You won’t be disappointed next year if it’s the same roster. It will be the second half of 2025 all over. Needs major overhaul and trade skubal before opening day.
Mize is a sp2 or sp3 at best. He’s middle relief on top 8 teams.
I think he has a good amount of time left to do it
Evan has become insufferable. Can’t really take him seriously anymore.
He definitely was not great in the second half of the season and it was probably the worst 3 month stretch of his career, but I think there are some overreactions happening.
I’m going to give him the offseason to reset and see how he settles into next season before throwing in the towel because he was decently reliable the last couple seasons. The whole team struggled collectively so there may just be an overall approach that needs to be addressed up and down the lineup.
