I had a dream Stolarz got traded last night. I guess that’s not even possible with where Woll is this season.
Did not know LTIR could be used in this scenario since as far as we know he’s not “injured”.
Oh boy, this is not good.
this seems like a cap move. the fact that they didn’t do it earlier and called it a “personal family matter” makes me wonder if you can get approval from the nhl to put a non injured player on ltir for cap relief for extenuating circumstances?
Grape.
Not a good thing to hear, praying for him and his family.
Jake: Cool cool cool cool cool cool cool
It’s so over lmao
They had better start doing a good job protecting Stolarz
I think Woll must have some kind of serious medical diagnosis. Personal leaves of absence can’t lead to a player being placed on LTIR as far as I am aware. The league independently verifies that a player is indeed injured before they can be placed there. Would love to be wrong but I’ve never seen LTIR used for something like family issues, which is what it initially sounded like was happening.

Thinking of Wonderwoll
Hoping all the best for Woll. And, as if things weren’t tough enough, now the team will have to step up even more.
Damn it doesn’t look good, seems like something serious
This has ‘season of doom’ written all over it. Hope Woll is alright too
I hope our wonderwoll is okay 💙🤍
damn
Hope he’s okay. Not much else to say.
Ok…I understand being respectful and showing grace to what can only be described as a curious and personal situation. I appreciate that the media hasn’t tried to spin this, or intrude.
*BUT*…
At what point, as a fan of the player and the team, is it ok to ask what is actually going on with this guy?
I’ve never seen so many last minute “issues” with a player, as with this guy.
And before the performative downvotes occur, I am a fan of this player. I want him to succeed. I am happy he was extended on this godforsaken team we all cheer for. I want him to return and do well and listen to all of us gushing over his Golden Lab persona.
But also, what is going on? Is he expected back before the new year? Is he expected back *this* season?!?
*EDIT: I invite anyone to go look at the official statement the team made on September 23. You can find it on their IG page. No indication of personal injury. No indication of personal illness.*
I had a really bad feeling about this when he didn’t return for the start of the season. Given the comments about his ‘progression’ I wonder if Woll is on leave for a personal issue involving depression or anxiety. What if there’s a JT Miller/Pettersson or Anthony Duclair type situation behind the scenes we don’t know about?
Pretty obvious it’s a mental health issue.
Rumor is it’s something extremely heartbreaking that he’s dealing with.
This can’t mean anything other than he won’t be back for a long time.
I heard from a friend close to the leafs organization that woll may be suffering from largitis balls syndrom
Okay I certainly hope Woll is okay and wish him well and all that
However did anyone else think Woll somehow managed to injure himself while dealing with a personal matter and is now on LTIR because that’s just the kind of weapons grade bad luck that would happen to the leafs
If he’s allowed to be placed on LTIR, he’s either: dealing with some real deal mental illness, has been diagnosed with something serious, injured himself somehow while on leave, or the leafs just lied and he was injured from the get go. Can’t think of any other possibility.
Hope it all turns out okay for the kid. He’s my Wonderwoll.
I really hope everything is ok.
With him and if it’s a family member, I truly hope everyone is ok
It can also still be a family issue, but his mental health ie he’s depressed and can’t concentrate and they had the team physician certify he is unfit due to his mental health in relation to something that is happening.

So is anybody going to say what is wrong?
Sounds like he’s a Carey price fan
Surprised it took this long too be honest. But it is defo concerning
Sounds like the big C. Hope he is is doing ok
Genuine question: Can mental health problems get you placed on LTIR?
This doesnt really mean anything and people shouldn’t be speculating. The statement from the team was personal leave for family reasons. I can think of any number of reasons why I would go on leave from work involving my family and I imagine I wouldn’t have much difficulty getting a doctor to sign off on a stress induced leave if my work wouldn’t grant me a leave of absence. I would think stress leave would make him eligible for LTIR.
The timing of this fully negates anything sinister as they found out tanev cant go but isnt long term. They needed to call someone up but didnt have the cap space, so the options were 1. Run it without having a 7th dman on the roster when theyre about to have a run of away games, or 2. Make a paper transaction to get 3.6 mil in cap space. They can make his LTIR retroactive to the start of the season and he’ll only have to miss the next 3 games to be eligible to return (available next Wednesday vs columbus).
Realistically what we are we even dealing with here, right? We don’t even know if the issue impacts him directly or someone he loves. Like, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to release a statement of some kind. Let us know if the situation he’s in will impact his future or something. Joseph Woll is a big part of this team.
Man….reading some peoples comments on here speculating, y’all sickos.
This is rather worrying
Does LTIR have to be a physical injury or can it be anything?
I think the Leafs are doomed this year. So many weird injuries. Marner will be laughing in Vegas
Family issue can mean someone very close to him has a serious health issue and has to be there for mental support.. whatever it is prayers to him and family they get through this.
Such an odd situation all around. Really hope he is ok
Wish him well and hope he can come back soon, if that’s what’s best for him
