He’s got some real real skills and I think people give him a hard time. Really good screener, and his processing speed in the short roll keeps getting better. Awesome catch radius and real deal lob threat. I like think he can be a version of someone like Clint Capela.
That was such a moving screen 😂
Rim running and rebounding will be more than enough to stay the rotation. I’m rooting for him but cautiously optimistic.
That was literally an illegal screen, the same kind he gets called for every single game, seemingly multiple. Why is he so bad at screening
Edit: spelling
I hope so, he’s in the league
based on that play?
He’s better than Embiid already.
Joe taking guys out of the game whenever an offensive rebound is given up is gonna get old fast. Queta started the game playing well and was pulled after 3 minutes.
Everyone is joking about it, but guys like Adebayo, Draymond Green, and our own Al Horford have been some of the “best” screeners in the league by pass blocking at the three point line and somehow getting away with it.
Don’t criticize Queta for setting these obviously criminal screens all game. Celebrate him for getting away with it, because that is an elite skill
Jayson Tatum just got a technical for that
He needs to get better at screening, his technqiue is pretty bad, but otherwise he’s a pretty good center prospect, he just hasn’t played much yet in his career. And his paint touch, 3-10 ft, is a really nice weapon that Al and Luke didn’t have last year. We should pass it to him more often on paint switches!
I thought he was underused last year.
His minimum goal this season is he should at least be better than Luke Kornet as a backup for us. If Boucher and/or Garza outplays him then we’ll need to look for 2 Cs in the market.
He’s 26.
I think he’s capable of being a 15/8 guy, but he’s flawed and plays sloppy at times, especially on the defensive side, and he picks up a lot of fouls that he shouldn’t. You’d hope that stuff gets cleaned up with more of a consistent role.
We should all be pleased he’s even turned into a capable rotation player. Great scouting.
He’s going to be one of the most productive contracts in the entire league for the next two seasons (we’re in no position, but awesome trade asset), and I don’t think it’s crazy to say we should try to extend him on a team friendly asap if it can make sense. He’s UFA after next season.
If you look at his per36 numbers at every level, he’s always been a 14-18 point, 8 rebound, 2 block player. Level of competition changed, and he kept producing at similar rates – including some stretches of really successful international play.
LOL Our big guys do moving screens all the time. Do our coaches tell our guys to push off on screens? sheesh
My biggest reservation with Queta was that he could never finish at the rim and he did tonight. Really that is all I need out of my big man at this point.
The big idea is hoping that we can find someone who can be a top 8 player on a championship roster along with JT, JB, DWhite, and PP (assuming that Hauser and Simons are not long for this team). If Queta and one more player can figure it out, that would be great!
